What type of workout do you usually do when you have REALLY bad menstrual cramps and low energy? Or do you just skip a day?

low impact high low. i still keep my kathy smith and denise austin's around for this reason. then lots and lots of stretching. i go through spurts of bad cramps then i can't get out of this bed cramps. the latter i take a day off and stretch in the evening if i am feeling better.

I find that if I am keeping up with my ab workouts, I get less cramps when the time comes. Lately, I've been slacking off, so I might be really in for it next time. I find walking really helps loosen everything up, and running as well if I can, depending on how bad they are.

sometimes a nice walk outside can cure just about anything:)

happy dance here tho....between pregnancy & nursing i havent had a period for about a year and a half! wahoo!!!!

I usually do whatever workout I had planned, and try and ignore the cramps. By the time I've been into it for about 10-15 minutes, my cramps are usually much better or I'm focusing on something else and not thinking about them. I used to get them really bad, and my gyno suggested that I stop "babying" them and do regular activities. I know this won't work for everyone, but it did for me.

I also take motrin! And then continue on! I try to not let it slow me down too much, but everyone is different!

older cramps

I'm an older woman and still have cramps, but it's true, the more you move and exercise, the less pain you have. sometimes it can even change the period.

Hope you feel better.

I rest. I have super heavy flow for couple days (super plus tampon + maxipad every 2 hours) and I just feel awful. I don't feel bad about pampering myself those days either....eating whatever sounds good....and just doing anything I can to get through it! lol

I use the Mirena IUD, so I hardly have a period at all!

I suppose that yoga or pilates might be good for that, though. Also, lots of sex.
