A gym update & a thank you

Hopefully this won't get controversial, b/c it's a happy post & I want it to stay that way! :)

I spoke to the manager last night about the boys in the locker room. He did confirm the age (I wasn't sure I had the ages right but apparently the tae kwan do class is for 4-6 YOs) & when I asked him about them changing in the ladies locker room he said I was absolutely right, it was inappropriate. He said he'd send an email out to all the parents in the class. I tried to be positive & proactive & suggested perhaps they could change in the daycare. He really liked that idea (there's a bathroom in there! Duh moms!) & said he'd include it in the email, something like "if you can't change your kid at home, change him/her in the daycare."

So it was all very nice & amicable, & resolved to everyone's satisfaction (as far as I know anyway). I wanted to thank everyone for your input, it was very helpful in resolving this situation.

P.S. It was pretty clear nothing had been done yet, b/c AFTER the class I saw moms taking their boys into the locker room. I wish there was an eye-rolling smiley option on this forum. :+

Good! I'm glad that the management was open to your ideas and thought that you were right. Sometimes it's not that way, as we all know.
That's awesome!
Congrats, and hopefully it will change soon for you.

Kathy

Well, the moms probably hadn't checked their email yet. And some will probably just be rebels and change the boys in the ladies room anyway.

Oh, great! Sounds like a solution has been found. Since not everybody keeps up with email, it might be a good idea, too, for the manager to post a few signs in the locker room.

Agreed! Our gym has BIG signs in the locker rooms telling women with sons to use the Family locker rooms. :)

That's awesome that the management was agreeable and easy to talk to! I think that it also helped that you just didn't go to him with a complaint, but also with a possible solution! I just hope that the moms are going to abide by this and not make a huge stink just because they have to change their habits!

Sounds like it is all going to be fine, maybe they should have also put up a flyer at the entrance to the ladies locker room to just reenforce but I'm glad it worked out well.

I agree.

Glad to see that the problem had an easy solution (though it would be nice if it were actually followed up on in a timely manner).

Guess you never know if you can get what you want until you ask for it.

Yes Way to go, but I bet there will be rule breakers....they will say they did not get the email

Our Gym had a jungle gym type area(tubes...swinging ropes etc........ there was a BIG SIGN.....on the door that said children up to 8 years could play....WITH parent supervision...You would be surprised at All the parents that just dump there kids off???

Well it is not my place to yell at someone else's child, but I got the Gym staff EVERY time I was in there and they took care of it....paging the mom/dad....keeping the kids with them until the parents were found....The moms were so upset??????

My advice would be.......get the staff when you see the mom in the locker room with her son...Then they can have a talk with her on her way out.
