A Chili's Crisis of Epic Proportions

Folks, I need your help -

One of my favorite big-box restaurants, Chili's, has discontinued my favorite dish in the universe - the Veggie and Smoked Cheese Quesadillas.

I can't go on like this - they took away the Texas Torpedo Wrap from T.G.I.Friday's, Jerry Orbach left "Law And Order" (although replaced by another silver-haired hottie Dennis Farina) and now this.

Please log onto www.chilis.com, go into "Contact Us" and let them know that A-Jock needs her veggie-smoked-cheese-quesadillas back.

I'd be grateful.

A-Jock

LOL...you got it, A-Jock!! Doncha hate it when it seems like as soon as you find something you REALLY like the take it off the menu??!! Happens to me all the time too!

I feel your pain. The Macaroni Grille recently took Nachos Napoli off their menu. It was one of my favorite dishes in the world. I don't see any point in going there now. Without that dish, they are the same as any other Italian restaurant.

Those fiends! I forgave Chili's for that baby back ribs jingle but this is too much! I think an email campaign is a great idea and I'll do it. So, they 69'd the Nachos Napoli, Caren! Have you ever been there when they 69 something becasue they've run out. It's quite a to do, bell ringing and all that. But permanently sixty-nining something you love is unforgivable. I have half a mind to give them a piece of my mind and I would except, I obviously can't spare it! LOL!

I love Law and Order. I have been watching it on and off on TNT. Haven't seen any of the Dennis Farina episodes but Jerry Orbach is absolutely terrific. Farina, whos from Chicago, has a summer home in New Buffalo where my family lives. My big sister runs a cleaning business, which is especialy booming when the summer visitors arrive em masse. Farina is one of her clients and she got his autograph for another sister's friend a few years ago. Word is, he's a great guy. That tickles me! :)

LOL, this is the funniest thread that I've read here. :)

I've never been to Chili's, so of course I've never heard of the quesadilla they're discontinuing, but I'll definitely go to their website and try to revive this dish for you. :)

Sent them an email......do these quesadilla's build bicep veins?????? Hope it helps AJ, my deepest sympathies are flying through cyberspace at ya ;( ;( ;( .

A-Jock,
Chili's actually sent me an email. It looks like you might be able to have your favorite dish customed made. Here's the contents of the email:

We are sorry to hear of your displeasure when we removed the Veggie and Smoked
Cheese Quesadillas from the menu. It is never an easy decision to delete any item from
our menu as we always run the risk of an unsatisfied guest.

It is only after extensive testing that our test kitchen and culinary team makes the
decision to remove any item from the menu. Currently, our menu items are geared to a
larger population who are not vegetarians. We will gladly forward your suggestion of
adding more vegetarian choices along to our culinary team for their consideration.

The kitchen can also "custom create" a meal to your liking using any of our vegetarian
components. Please speak with your server or the manager on duty.

Guest feedback is vital to our success. We appreciate your loyalty as our customer, and
hope you will continue to frequent Chili's. It will be our pleasure to serve you.

I actually clicked on this thread by accident and began to read out of curiosity. But A-Jock I have to tell you, that as a former TGI Firdays waitress, you can also special order that wrap that you where talking about. I don't know if they even carry wraps at all anymore, but usually they have a cook in the back that knows what the patron is looking for. Heck, we had a regular that special ordered a cob salad soo badly that we ended up naming it the "jerry Cobb". At that restuarant you can go in and order the jerry cobb and you will get a cobb salad with tuna salad mixed in, and there are other things that aren't in it that would be in a cobb salad, but it's been a few years, so I can't remember the specifics. But you can definately make up your own thing there as well and they will do it for you. Like my sister in law used to "S.I" the hell out of things to the point where it wasn't even what it was supposed to be. Like the cajun pasta that they used to ahve she would have it with no veggies, so they strained out the veggies for her. That was what made Fridays stand out back in the day. I'm not sure if people even realize that they can do that anymore. But now you all know! So, go, be free to order what you wish, and not feel bad about it. Because you aren't the only one, there are others out there like you. But, now you know the secret!

A-Jock: I just want you to know that I'm very disappointed to read your email. I don't go to Chili's all that often, but when I do, the only thing on their menu that I can/will eat are those quesadillas!! A few years ago, one of my former favorite restaurants, Tia's, took the spinach quesadillas off of their menu. I don't understand why they're saying that vegetarian items don't appeal to the masses when healthy eating is becoming a bigger focus in this country, especially in the restaurant/fast food industry!!!! I, too, will send them an email w/those opinions. It's nice to know from previous responders that you can custom-order menu items, but I hate to do that seeing as how the likelihood of spit in my food will increase with my pickiness!!! LOL!!:7

I just wanted to say that I sent them an email and got the exact same response as Kepi, as I'm sure that most of you did too. It must be a standardized response--what a shock!!!
