417!!

:eek::eek: I had to move my video collection today because the closet it is housed in is having some work done this afternoon. Curiosity got the best of me and I had to count my videos, 417. That is individual disks/videos. I counted each disk as one even if the disk had multiple workouts (CIA, cathe, CLX, etc.). I of course preordered shock cardio and plan to order Insanity (I was on vacation last week and reading about it all week was making me crazy:eek:). I vascilate between, whoa I have too many, and what a great addiction to have. Mostly, it was good to see some of my old friends (including my first video The FIRM Volume 1) and get excited about doing some of them again.

Oh good! Now when I get teased about how many workouts I have with my (I'm guessing) collection of about 150 I can confidently say I'm not even close to "some" people ;)

I have at least 5 times that many movie dvds, does that count? I have a long way to go to catch up to you two in workout dvds! I better get a move on! ;)

Thanks, Shayne--now I don't feel so bad about MY collection! I actually haven't counted them in a couple of years, but I don't THINK I have 417! I need to do a re-count (well, maybe not:eek: )

I don't dare count mine!
I'm sure I have at least 200...but come to think of it, since there is 'spillover' outside of the three-tier, two-layer shelving unit I keep most of them on, I may have close to 400 (I certainly do if I count the three large boxes of DVDs to get rid of).

Scary, isn't it?

Firm Flashback

My original Firm tapes are sitting in a special box in a very dry closet - I transferred them to DVD about two years ago. Do you ever do your Firms when you feel nostalgic? Or just to see that you can still do them?

Imagine how many you would have if you counted the actual workouts? Like KPC AND Legs and Glutes.....wow!!

Funny you mentioned this...I was feeling nostalgic the other day and did The Firm volumes 1 and 2! (Bought them back when they were $50...) Years ago I used to do volume 2 (w/Janet Jones Gretzky) so much that I could probably do it from memory! It was still fun after all these years, though I'd forgotten how killer the floor leg work is! I transferred mine to DVD a few yrs ago too, but still couldn't bear to part with the original VHS...

That Firm 2 with Janet Jones is one of my alllll time favorites! Love it! My college age daughter just did it the other day and thought it was very good...although she was cracking up over the guys in it! ~deb

What Shannon said. Cathe is always The Great Temptress because so often she puts multiple workouts on one disc, AND the premixes.

Shayne, thank you so much for outing yourself; the next time DH twits me about my ever-blossoming DVD collection I'll show him this thread.

I agree that Vol 2 is definitely my most favorite workout ever. I also agree about the guys... the outfits...the socks...!!!

Ly10up - I have preordered Shock Cardio (4), and plan on ordering Insanity (10), so that brings me up to 431. I am sure someone will come up with another video that my life simply won't be complete without having :D

I always laugh when I pull out my Firms. My first "real" video was Volume 1. I will always remember the first time I was doing it DH was watching me with growing concern on his face. After about 10 minutes he asked me, with great concern, if I should stop because a person really shouldn't work out that hard. Of course I refused and now he thinks you are supposed to work out that hard. The real humor in that though is how much harder so many of my newer workouts are. But I will always love the Firm for starting me on this path, where I know I am supposed to be.

Shayne, I'm in awe of your collection! I'm also grateful to The Firm for getting me excited about exercise. Who'd have thought that 20+ yrs later I'd be here having just finished my 5 month STS rotation, awaiting Shock Cardio, "thinking" about Insanity, and lifting heavier than I ever would have imagined back then!

We all rock... I have a few friends who can't ever fathom the idea of exercising "all alone at home" with "no one to motivate me"... They just don't get it!!!

henh henh - Vol 2 was also my favorite, too, however Vol 1 was a close 2nd. Susan (forget her last name - the one with the loooong blond hair) and that freakin' floor work for legs would have me in tears. And she'd grit her teeth maybe once during the whole thing :) Ah, the memories.

But yes, where would we be without first experiencing the original Firm?

Wow Shayne, I agree with Aquajock.... when my DH can't understand why I 'need' so many workouts, I will have to share your information with him.

I would guess I am well over 200 workout DVD'd and videos. I tell DH I need a variety, he doesn't get it though.

Thanks for sharing!!

Do you ever get rid of workouts you don't use? I would say I have maybe 60-70 individual dvds but I've gotten rid of many through the years. When I visit my mom I'll usually bring her something to keep or borrow as she doesn't indulge in new dvds for herself as much. Aside from something off the swap for eight bucks, I haven't gotten anything new for a while. I'm going to remedy that, though, right after I move this weekend and get settled a bit.

I started with Vol 1 (Susan Harris), Vol 2 (Janet Jones Gretzky), and Vol 3 (Sandahl Bergman). I LOVED the Firm. And when I started exercising again after a long hiatus with cancer treatments, I started with these volumes.

I only do Cathe now - but God love the classic firms. They are timeless.

I probably have over 100 workouts - but nowhere NEAR 400!!
