40s - week of June 14th

Cathlete
Hey everyone! I'm BACK!!!! Actually, I've been back, just been needing to rest up (even though I went to work Friday). I thought I'd start the thread early this week, I probably won't have enough time at work to "talk" properly. (that sounds like how Ronne might phrase something :)

We did go ziplining and to Mesa Verde. It was a LONG drive. Bummer part is that DH got a ticket the night we were driving back! Failure to stop coming out of the gas station...I think the police was waiting and since when is there a stop sign coming out of a gas station in a dusty little town? I had to go to Google-Earth to find it, and from the direction we came from out of the gas station and how wide the exit area was, there is no way we would have seen it. Guess that town has a bit of our money now ($90!). Anyway, Mesa Verde is very interesting the first tour the people weren't so athletic and had a hard time making it out the exit (I think a 100 ft ascend on a ladder and steps). The second tour was much more exciting getting into and out of (and we had athletic people because they warn the public a lot on that one). Here are the pics that I think everyone will be able to see even if not on facebook.

Ziping was fabulous (the train ride was a bit long ---only way to get there). It is a coal powered train so the smoke made our eyes hurt--especially on the drive back---we didn't get back until 1:30am---I haven't seen that hour of night in decades! ) The people on the ziplining really made the tour fun....they all remembered your name and we had a Brit who was sooooo funny and he hugged me at the end....so personable. Lunch they provided was fabulous too (or maybe i was just starving?) The best part is this girl put me in a size 2 harness and one of the guys said it was too big so they had to put me in a size 1. I bragged about it and then the lead guy said that they normally use size 1's for teenagers! Oh, made my day! (It's the little things). I even went upside down on the line! Here are those pics:

Now to exercise. I did NOT exercise on the trip (sorry Kathryn). And at one point on the zipline course we did have a 1/4 mile hike uphill (I'd say 8% grade). Finally on Friday, I did 4DS KB only (started back slow), then Saturday I ran 4.5 miles (I was still slow), and Sunday I did STS Meso1 legs (had to hit pause SEVERAL times). Why does it take you so long to recover the older you get?

Oh, the weather here has been crazy. 95 most of the week, then on the weekend 55 for a high! Back to the 80s this next week. Maybe the humidity is affecting me still? I did feel the elevation change in the mountains (normally we are at 5200 ft, and in the mountain we were at 7200-8200ft) I'm taking the BP pills every other day (if I take them every day my BP is too low). The trip DID help my outlook----I laughed SOOOOOOOOO much with my boys! That is until the cop was a party pooper--thankfully THAT was at the end of the trip. We are still laughing at the time we had.

Ronne, I need a vacation like you had now! I did wear my hat MOST Of the time I was in the sun---did I mention I HATE hats?

Mary, sounds like the hip is getting better? How is the other hip doing?

Hi Lisa and anyone else looking in!

Sounds like you had a great time. I had a look at the photos - the one of you upside down was a hoot! I'm not sure I would have been brave enough to do that. Well done! Glad you could get away with the family and just forget about stuff for a while.

No workouts for me at the weekend, just not enough time. But I did lop some branches off the tree at the back and mow the lawn, so not too bad. Yesterday we had friends over for lunch which was lovely. I ate so much I didn't have anything else for the rest of the day !

Back in the swing of things again today with 4DS KB. Feeling tough now!

today I did STS Meso 1 CH/Bi/Shoulders. This is the last week of Meso 1. I think I decided to try to shake things up and do 2 weeks of Meso 3 right away since I took my recovery week a week early.

Ronne, oh my, you must have eaten a LOT! My problem is I still have the other meals too even when I splurge. The upside down was a bit scary, I would only take one hand off of the rope in front of me. I couldn't bring myself to let go with both hands.

Hi everyone else....gotta run. Still cold and rainy here. One more day of it. I spent yesterday trying to read in bed (perfect weather for it) but found myself falling asleep in no time and so didn't get much read. Been ages since I've snuggled down with a good book!

Lisa, I'm glad you had a great trip! The zipline thing sounds like so much fun! We did that in Mexico once -- even took the kids! No worries about not exercising -- it sounds like you had quite a bit of activity without it. I'll check your pix after I finish this.

Speaking of kids: What made me think that my life would be easier when school got out? I have all of the same responsibilities, plus I get to watch them (and their friends) every day. They've not been in camp much, so they're home and they're so bored! (I've got plenty of laundry for them to fold...)

Still moving through STS. I was so sore after the first leg disk that I didn't think I could walk for the rest of the week. And tomorrow I'm doing legs again... probably with less weight than last week. Gee, I thought I was in shape, but I'm sore after every STS workout.

Ronne, we had friends over yesterday and ate far too much also... and then there were the margaritas. Way too many calories and too much sugar! I'm avoiding the scale for a bit, until I feel like the extra weight (and bloat) is gone.

My long-time best friend is coming to visit on Thursday, and we're going to North Carolina for the weekend -- leaving DH with the kids (yikes!) and having my first-ever trip without them. I hope everybody survives... it could get ugly.

Anyhow, because of that, my check-ins could be spotty, but I'm trying to post every day -- even if it's only a line or two.

So much for a restful summer!

Yeah! Everybody is here! (Murphy, I know you are out there! Did the house sell?) Lisa, looks like you had a fabulous time! How nice that your boys still want to go on vacation with you! You all look so happy in the pics! I envy your courage zip lining, I, on the other hand would probably wet myself with fear!! As to your w/o's, from those pics, it looked like your vacation was a w/o! Ronne, I eat like that a lot myself! I do love my food and drink! Kathryn, I'm with you on the kids being home! Today the twins are in boating school, learning how to be safe on the lake! I just have the little one, he hasn't stopped talking for the last 5 hrs! Have fun with your girlfriend! I am jealous! Just did HIIT on the bike and the floor work from GS legs. I see the orthopedist on Thurs. I'll see what he says about the other side, Lester seems to think it has a tear also. I'll let you know!! Have a good day everyone! Mary

We are such bad girls with our eating!

Kathryn, Margarita?!?!??! OMG, I love them but the sugar! Might as well just take sugar straight :) I'm having issues with sitting down too today from STS MEso 1 legs yesterday. I'm ready to move onto another MESO---thank goodness I'M DONE WITH THE PUSHUPS!!!!!!!

Mary, when my kids were young, I had the same, I'm bored (actually still do, but thankfully they can work now--that keeps them busy! :) ) The boys tell me now how they hated summer camp (uh, but what was I to do with them?!?!?!) They survived and we can take pleasure that one day they will have a child just like them (my Mom used to say that to me----and my 1st boy is just like me!)

Forgot to say----I determined on vacation that kids will always say the dreaded " ARE WE THERE YET?" no matter their age!!! Or, "HOW MUCH LONGER". And Mary, the boys are always ready to go with us, as long as we are paying ! :)

Hi everyone,

It has been crazy lately, well, crazy as usual... Saturday I did the core cardio from shock cardio, Sunday I did Tracie Long and this morning I did Michael Olajidae (jumprope).

Lisa - that vacation looked fun, love the pictures.

Mary - nope, still did not sell the house. We have had people come through, but who knows if they are like us, just looking and waiting for their place to sell! :-(

Murphy

Hi everyone

Good to see the whole gang here!

Kathryn - how was Disneyland? Did you have a good time? Did you do your workouts like you planned? I know what you mean about the school holidays although I do like spending time with DD. It's like she's all mine again :D! You've never been away on your own without your children!!! Wow, I go away every year with a friend, couldn't manage without it. Hope you have a great time.

Murphy - hope the house sale isn't too stressful for you. Are you tidying up all the time in case someone comes to see it?!

Lisa - hope it's not too miserable now you're back at work again.

Mary - did the kids enjoy boating school? That sounds like fun.

Today I did 4DS HIS. I burned almost 100 fewer calories from when I did it a week ago. Not sure what that means! I'm feeling in pretty good shape apart from this football where my stomach used to be - yuck!

See you all tomorrow!

Hi everyone! Today was PUB, haven't done that in a long time! Ronne, I know what you mean about having kids all to yourself, time goes so fast! I know they will be gone way to soon! Kathryn, all the friends like to come to our house too, which I like and don't like! Make sense? How is STS going? Lisa, how is it to be back at work? Do you miss all your extreme activities?! I am amazed at your daring! Murphy, are you getting lots of traffic thr your house? Have a good day, have to take DD to ortho for her arm! Mary

Hi all, unplanned rest day. DH let the kids watch a movie that gave them bad dreams. They were up all night and up talking to me all night. I finally made DH deal with it and went to sleep in the kids' room (they were in our bed). Of course I still could not sleep b/c I could hear him yelling at them to go to sleep - yelling at 2 am always helps people sleep!

Mary/Ronne - the house is always tidy. The kids are upset b/c they cannot find anything or something is packed away. We have a lot of traffic but most of the people are either like us, looking but have a place to sell, don't like all the stairs (3 levels) or are really, really cheap. We are not desperate yet so there is still time.

Murphy

Hey everyone! Work is busy so this is going to have to be short and sweet. I didn't sleep well last night either Murphy! We got a call at midnight---WRONG NUMBER---woke me up from a deep sleep and I couldn't get back to sleep. So was a bit tired this morning, I did STS Kickbox....that is such a fun workout, I still sweated a lot --- humidity. Mary I do miss doing adventurous things...work isn't too adventurous you know? The mgr that laid me off when I was a IBMer has been talking to me a lot! First about ziplining, then about losing a dog and how I should go get some pills (this one she eavesdropped on mine and the guy I sit next to conversation). It's just funny. I feel like this post is discombobulated (or however you spell that). I've gotten interrupted quite a bit, I better close before another interruption!

Hi all

Not got much work done today. Had to go into town this morning to do some shopping - presents, cards, bits & pieces, all very time-consuming. Couldn't manage it without a list! I did a KCM Bootcamp when I got back, fast and furious and done in 30 mins.

Murphy - poor you, what a night! sounds like you need SleepMax:p

Lisa - I like Kickbox, it's nice to do something a bit easier for a change isn't it? Hello to your manager if she's peeking over your shoulder!!!

Mary - hope DD's ortho visit was OK.

Right, time to do a bit of work!

Hi girls! Just did a menagerie of things, bike, legs from MIS, and floor work from GS. We are done with DS orthopedist, she just has to wear the brace for dangerous things, like walking, etc! Today we are off to the orthodontist! Ronne, did you order KCM new ones? I saw clips, they look totatlly different, some powerlifting. I have to think about those. Lisa, don't you just love unsolicited advice? Murphy, did you get some sleep? When my DH was little his mom let him watch Halloween, he cant handle scary movies to this day! Have a good day all! Mary

I decided to sleep in today and take a rest day. I was tired from being woke up last night....good thing I don't have young kids anymore! :) I had a slight headache too, and now that I'm in work, it's worse, and starting to feel queasy....aka Hormone Migraine.....

Ronne, I have to have lists too especially as I advance in age! Or sometimes I try the---I need 3 things, and then when I'm at the store I try to remember the 3 things....sometimes it takes a while to remember (and sadly sometimes I don't)---so I'm learning to do the list thing. My handwriting is so bad that sometimes I can't read my list!

Mary, what fun you are having at all your (and your kids) dr appts.

I'll close now, I just can't form a coherant thought with this headache.

Hi all. I got a smidge of sleep last night. The little one still cannot sleep and she ended up in the bed with me. DH fell asleep downstairs while watching tv so there was room in the bed. So, DD gets into the bed and wants to talk! I kept telling her to be quiet but she only got louder. I eventually pretended to be asleep and then she stopped talking. ??? She tossed and turnd which means that I tossed and turned. I managed to do CoreMax (Ronne, loved you SleepMax joke!). It felt good but I had planned on some kickboxing. Oh well, I am glad I was able to get something in. Oh, tomorrow DD graduates from pre-k, this is the 4th time they changed the graduation date!

Murphy

Hi all

Lisa - hope the migraine cleared up. My DH gets them from time to time and they make him feel awful, so I do sympathise. You made me laugh with the handwriting thing. I'm known for my illegible handwriting but at least I can read it! :)

Murphy - don't know what you're like but I am horrible with no sleep! Any chance of an afternoon nap? I bet not.

Mary - sounds like you're getting your hip back into action. Any twinges or is it feeling OK? I haven't ordered KCM's new ones yet. I'm waiting to see clips from the actual filming before deciding. I think she usually has the presale for quite a while. I do like her workouts but am a bit unsure about these.

Talking of new workouts, my new Cathes arrived today! How about that for quick? I only ordered them last week. I'm still sticking with my rotation so probably won't try them for a while but I think I'll have a look at one this afternoon while I'm working. Today was 4DS LIS, I think that's my favourite one of the 4DS. I really like the music and it's got such a happy vibe. OK, off to preview something now, not sure which ...

See you all tomorrow.

DD's pre-k graduation today. She is soooo excited. I am too. I am sure I will be crying. I would wear my glasses instead of my contact if the 2-year old did not break them - again...

Ronne - glad to hear you are sticking with your rotation. I have not been able to do it. I did it with STS and not much else.

Murphy

Weeeellllll, I didn't sleep well again last night, so at 2:00am changed my alarm to later so therefore another unplanned rest day. WOW, that's 2 days in a row and the first 2 days I've not exercised before driving into the office about 2 months ago. MAYBE I'll do STS Meso1 Back/Bi tonight....or, maybe not? How do you all do it when you workout in the afternoon or evening, do you end up taking 2 showers? I sweat soooo much even on teh UB workouts that are endurance type (like Meso1).

Murphy, yea on graduation from Kindergarten! Yes, you will cry! :) By the second though you will be rejoicing :)

Ronne, have fun previewing! Let us know how you like them. My fav 4DS is HIS, 2nd is LIS. Man, I'm feeling like a lazy slob not working out for 2 days

Hi Mary, how's everything with you, running any marathons yet? ;) I'm impressed by your recovery. What does Lester say?

Hi to Kathryn if you are reading, enjoy your visit with your friend.

Later ladies!

Hi everyone! I'm late today! Sat with my girlfriend, and kids while she had a garage sale, of course I spent money! I have to get to my w/o, think maybe Travel Fit? Anyway, saw the doctor this am, He thinks the other side has a tear also, so I will have surgery in July, at least we have met our deductible for the year all ready! Lisa, how frustrating not sleeping! That makes me crazy, it is a terrible cycle, you don't sleep, get anxious over not sleeping, exhausted, then you still don't sleep! You needed some rest days! Murphy, I cried at the twins 6th grade graduation! I know I will cry when they start middle school too! Ronne, I really enjoy LIS too! I have tried HIS, haven't mastered that one yet! Kathryn, HAVE FUN!! I probably won't make it back tomorrow, we are going to the beach house for the day, I hope everyone has a good weekend and Father's Day! Mary
