40's September thread

did my standard dog walk, then HS -- lots of you don't like this one, I do, especially modifying...I think I like the music. During conditioning I did my PT. My PT is basically shoulder and back. My left shoulder still isn't right, hoping the kinesio taping helps the left trap.. was able to get to some hard knots yesterday on teh foam roller after my w/o.

Ronne, I hope it isn't a cold! and yea for work. I need to work on some budget figures and see where we are so far this year with all my loss of income.

Mary, I love the cooler weather, but my neck/shoulder/back muscles do not. I was a bit sweaty after my walk and I sit on the patio but it was so cool that I had to grab my pashmina.....ew, didn't want to get sweat on it, need one for post workouts :)

Roxie, how long will it take your toe to get better? I'm happy to trade your toe for my neck :)
 
Hi girls. I did a jogwalk today, not too catheletic, but wth.

Food I do eat good stuff- but often too much of the not good stuff (last night I had wine chips and oreos) so I guess it was good that earlier I'd had kale smoothie.

Lisa, our fitness and life is marathon, not a sprint so maybe its ok to be starting over- better that than to be crossing the finish line and be DONE!
I eat better now that I'm in school and clinicals since I pack food, I gained a lot when I was home over a month. Ronne and Lisa, I think it takes a lot of discipline not to eat all day long when you are home. Roxie, what to you do when you are home? Roxie, I appreciate honesty from my kids, but there is no easy way to hear that someone has noticed you've gained weight. Mary, how is the new fall routine going? Do you have students yet? Are your kids settling into stuff?

School is same-ish. I've enjoyed new clinical site.
I've had cars to repair shop this week and needed dental repair $$$$ : ( so that is the bad news. The good news is I have crushes on both my mechanic and dentist. ttyl hugs.
 
Hi everyone

Jody - oddly enough I eat less during the day now than i did when I worked in an office! Nobody brings cakes and sweets round or stuff back from their holidays and we don't have that much unhealthy food in the house. I actually lost weight when I went freelance !

Lisa - actually I seem to remember the music in HS is pretty good. I guess you could do your workouts along any Cathe DVD and feel like you're joining in.

Mary - DM is on my list for after this rotation. I haven' t done it for ages.

Roxie - so have you been back to the lake again with the good weather?

So, my new project is starting next week and I thought I'd take advantage of the free time. I just went into town to see an exhibition. Really enjoyed just wandering around looking, much quieter on a weekday.
Did GSCT this morning, not sure if I'll do CLB tomorrow, still trying to hold off the cold so I don't want to get my heart rate up. The problem is I don't really have any easier cardio anymore, thanks to Cathe! Could possibly do MMA KB.
We've got another quiet weekend planned. Weather a bit warmer so will probably go for a walk on Sunday.

Good Morning,

The sun finally came out and its only suppose to be in the 70's today. I did Xtrain Bis and Tris and KCM's Start Here Cardio and it still hurt the toe its bothering me more today.

Ronne-we couldn't go Wednesday DH had a meeting to go to and yesterday was his late day so we didn't make it while it was warm but we do plan on going today when he gets home. I don't eat more while I am home just the wrong things.

Jody-I clean house and now I am back to work on GS's wall hanging that I started before he was born to keep me busy. I will start walking again when this toe decides to heal.

Lisa-I don't remember how long it took the last time I broke 2 toes to heal and yes the toe isn't as bad as your neck just a pain to deal with.
 
Hi all. Sorry to have not been around much. I was not going to say anything, but I did not want to just drop off the face of the earth with no explanation. I have breast cancer and started chemo. I am really tired but otherwise okay. I used to get up at 5 am to exercise, but now I try to get that extra rest in before I have to start my day. I may try to get up around 5:30 for a leisurely ride on my bike or do some stretches or ab work or something - just to feel normal again. I have been going on walks and that feels good. I may up it in a few days. Anyway, just to let you know what is up with me. I will keep you posted on how things go. Prayers are welcome.

Murphy, I'm glad you told us what was up. Take care of yourself, get that extra rest, listen to your body. Prayers for your, remember we are Cathe strong, we WILL get thru our challenges and it can be helpful having a support system and I hope we can be that for you.

Today's dog walk was not restful, the older dog GOT OUT OF HER HARNESS chasing a bunny around a tree, I was shocked to see the harness come back with no dog in sight. there was a ranch style fence I had to get under/over or something, and I had the puppy. I couldn't figure out how to get into the fenced area to possibly see where she went, kept calling her name and come. NOTHING. Called DH to come help me, meanwhile puppy goes under fence so now I have no option but to crawl under the 1 ft area under the last rung, thru wet cut grass, leashes got all wrapped up around a pole, meanwhile I"m calling for the dog, DH is on phone yelling he doesn't understand where I am. Get leashes untangled start looking calling, she could be anywhere by now, finally I turned around and there she was coming toward me, but knew she was in trouble. This all took about 5 min. Came home, wiped wet (now dried onto me) grass off my legs, went to bathroom, and what do you know, I had wet dried grass IN MY UNDERWEAR! sigh

Now onto my left trap hurting, 24 hrs after the kinseio taping, when I foam rolled, I was able to find about 4 painful bean sized areas and I tried to roll them out but not get myself too sore. Then next day after HS, my left trap trigger point hurt bad, got to thinking and maybe all the modified jumping jacks (arms straight up), overworked it (so being careful). Maybe the kinseio taping is helping , i dunno. I did do S&G, of course didn't do jumping jacks, mtn climbers, or squat thrusts, did my PT exercises when I couldn't do what Cathe was doing.

I did STS disc 22 CST this morning all before 9 AM, so that is good for me. I've gotten to where I scan ahead and figure out what I'm going to skip or modify in order to get thru. Maybe I eliminate a set of push ups, the second set in the drop sets (wt changes take more than 10 sec anyway) or changing single arm whatevers into double arm whatevers to speed things up. At this point I'm using STS as garden variety wt workouts, not a system I'm committed to doing. My goal is to stay fit, active and healthy and hopefully leanish and strongish. I can focus on periodization or other specific goals later. Shrug.

Murphy, share what/when you feel like it but know we are thinking of you. I just have a sense that you will handle it. That sounds weird? Its sort of a mantra from Face the Fear and Do it Anyway tape I have and I can hear her saying, no matter what it is, I'll handle it and I heard that in my head this morning when I thought of you. :::awkward public forum internet hug from a friend moment:::

Roxie, I hope toe doesn't slow you down, Ronne, congrats on new work. Mary, I still have two more STSM2 w/o to go, you passed me and finished two weeks earlier.

Did you get your tooth fixed? Ronne, hope you are having a good weekend! Crazy busy here, last night football game, rained out by halftime, they evacuated the band. Today cross country meet in the pouring rain, picked DS up, cleaned worked out, took DD back to high school for band competition, I'm not going 2 hours away! Going off to church next, then DS has a party, have to pick DD up at 11! Little one and I, are hitting Target for our Saturday night fun! Hope all is well with everyone! Talk to you later, Mary

I did the standing cardio of AOLIH then walked on the TM for 30 minutes. I am not feeling well today but just can't figure out what exactly is the problem but on a good note the toe allowed me to walk on the TM.

Busy yesterday with laundry-max, grocery-max, then a bit of sleep-max, didn't feel that great (damn trap). So only did the 1.5 mile dog walk, thankfully uneventful.

TOday, since I didn't do anything woke up sorer. KNew I had to work it out. The big dog is licking her paw (maybe she did something to it on her excursion when she got outof her harnass), so, did LIS, did PT shoulders and back and core, and did the calves of LIS (wowsers. so out of shape on calves, hurt!), stretched, foam rolled, my trap hurts, right in the trigger point, right where the tape starts (yes, Mary, PT tapes it, supposed to last 4-5 days, I notice maybe it hurting more on day 4 so maybe it's losing it's "power" even though it's still on my skin? I bought some so I can tape (or DH can tape it once we learn how). TOday, my sis is bringing over her 3 dogs, so our dog can get socialized.

Roxie, good your toe is healing, maybe it takes longer to heal the older we get.


SPeaking of older, happy birthday on tues Mary (before I forget).

Jody, that sounds like a good goal. I did Meso 3 maybe 2 times, never will I again (and that's not because of my injury), just cuz it wasn't for me.

Can't wait until PT tomorrow (remember I'm weekly now), this trap is about to drive me crazy, there never isn't a time it isn't hurting, I think that area was just so nerve damaged that it is taking a while. I was able to do the ext rotations on Cathe LIS, so I think the rear delt area is getting better on my left arm, if I didn't have that left trap pain I'd feel pretty good (just out of shape). Oh and I had that darn bone stimulator around my neck this morning and about 30 min later noticed I forgot to turn it on!
 
Hi all. Thank you for all the kind thoughts and prayers and hugs and everything. The morning was tough b/c the kids wanted to play and I was too tired. I rested and am feeling better, but the tired is a constant. The kids know what is happening and they and DH are helping. It is just hard to sit on the sidelines while they have fun. I keep telling myself that this is only temporary. This too shall pass. Anyway, please be sure to get your butt kicked by Cathe for me while I kick mr c's butt!!

Murphy, I'm glad you rested. I think that pushing when you aren't up for it wouldn't be good for you anyway? maybe rest is your PT right now.

Prob won't be back til Thurs or so, waves~~

Jody - have a good week. And well done on keeping up with STS, you're making it work for you, it doesn't matter how you're doing it, just as long as you're doing it!

Murphy - take your rest when you need it. It's your body telling you what it needs.

Lisa - plenty of maxes in there! Switching to once a week must be good as now you're looking forward to it instead of dreading it!

Mary - I don't know how you find time to breath!! You're so busy, you make me look like a sloth!

Roxie - hope you're feeling better.

Subbed yoga on Sat for cardio. Had such a lazy day, I did nothing!! Then yesterday we went for a 4.5 mile walk by the river, the sun came out and it was beautiful. Supposed to be good today, it's warm but completely grey!
Got CTX for the whole of this week's rotation. Did 10/10/10. Just the right amount of work.
 
Hello! Today did a TTM premix, a little ugly, but done! Murphy, must be so frustrating for you. Sleep is when we heal and recover. I'm thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers. Ronne, that sounds like a perfect weekend! Once football and croos country season is over, things will slow down a bit, I'm hoping a lot! Jody, hope the week flys by for you! Lisa, it must be really sticky tape to stay on in the shower? Are you still taking the neurotiin? Would that help with your trap? Roxie, how are you?
