40's hot July thread

Good Morning,

I am headed up to stay at my sister house tonite so I don't have to get up so early to take mom to a funeral and on the way up I am going to spend some time with my GS. I will do SJP step only this morning my body is killing me. No time for personals I am running late.
 
Lisa, quickly reading previous post I thought you called your dh a drag queen. I am glad you two have each other to support through all this .
Ronne, I bet you guys have a fab time in Cali. I want to take my girls there to go to coaster park like I did a few years ago w/ my guy. I may have to try some yoga soon.
Roxie enjoy time w/ family but sorry about funeral.
Murphy did you guys do anything for the 4th?
I took my dad down to the beach for a walk today, he usually goes on his treadmill at home or to cardiac rehab on Fridays. We split so we could do our own pace and meet back up. His response when I met him back at the car. Well that sucked lets don't do that again ever anytime soon. ::eyeroll::
I got in 4 miles w/ some intervals. Should do CBS from XT but probably won't attempt anything like that.
 
Ah, that gel seems to be helping. DH likes rubbing down his little filly with it, lol (in case you didn't know it's a gel for horses, but lots of people use it for sore muscles and arthritis). Let's hope I continue to feel better. I'm not backing off any percocet either. I'm not going to try to be a hero with not taking pills. 2 more days of this brace! I'm feeling more hopeful now (amazing what a little horse gel will do), I was pretty down on the 4th with the muscle pain.

Jody, you'd think a walk on a beach would be so much better than where he usually walks! Any change in scenery is always better.

Roxie, I may use this gel for DOMS whenever I get them again. How are your legs now, how was GS?

Mary, will you be back soon? I've missed your cheery posts. Sometimes I need you to counter balance the negativity I get from my sister. Gah! Why did I start talking to her again? All I get is, your hair looks like crap in a ponytail and you are such a wimp to still need pain pills. I quit answering her calls for a while (I have a reason too, I'm over my minutes on my plan...only have cell phone).

Ronne, Hope your Murray wins. Not watching at the moment. Your yoga reminds me of my going to bed routine lately. Go lay in bed, can't see the tv in the position I have to be in, so lay there and focus on relaxing (the valiumm I take helps that part :) ) and know sleep will come soon,hopefully. My normal way of relaxing (reading) is too difficult a position to get in. Sometimes, like last night after being rubbed down with the gel, I lay there and enjoy the fact I don't hurt. Do you have much to buy for your trip to CA?

I got called out for work last night, wth, I'm not on call! Thankfully I had just woken up to change positions so it didn't wake me up, but they kept calling (wasn't going to answer, wanted to get back to sleep), so I put phone on silent, but it still vibrated, and put it under a pillow in the family room (on my way to get more drugs). Not sure where the mix up is (ie. why they called me), but I know I shouldn't have been called! No dedication here :)

I finally made it back home it was a really long day. I went for a 1.5 mile walk before we went to the funeral.

Lisa-GS was running a temp he has another ear infection but while I was at thier house he cut his first tooth right side on the bottom.
 
Roxie, first tooth, how cool. I hope he feels better now that the tooth broke thru.
Lisa, re calls in the middle of the night, are you on some random work list? Enjoy the rub downs. Just don't expect sugar cube at the end!
Ronne, is your trip all planned? Did you do yoga this Fri again?
Mary are you back and planning on STS tomorrow?
Murphy, did you have a nice 4th?
I did supercuts pm with core 2. I had to do something even tho I didn't feel like it. Also am working on coffee stain on carpet.

We went to the lake today and it was not a good day it was windy and DH decided he wanted to ski well I can't control the boat when its windy and I got the ski rope wrapped around the prop and DH had to cut some of it to get it off and it also ruined the fish finder lets just say I felt like a failure. Its really hot here today and suppose to get hotter by Tuesday. I didn't workout today.

Jody-hopefully the antibiotic kicks in for his ear infection so he can feel better.

Lisa-glad to hear you found something that helps.
 
Hi all! We are home! Trip was nice, weather was a little dicey, nice to see everyone, so glad to be home! I will catch up with all the scoop tomorrow, just wanted to tell Jody I don't know if I will be able to start STS tomorrow. I slipped on some wet bricks, landed on my wrist, still hurts to bend it. Not quite sure what I'd did? It's swollen, but not terribly so, just hurts to move it, I don't think I will be able to do 7,000 push-ups! Haha! That's what it feels like in meso 1! I will see how it feels in the morning. I'm sorry. Hope all is well with everyone, missed you all! Talk to you tomorrow, Mary
 
Hi all, I am back from vacation. I took Yesterday off. I did not exercise while away, no dvd player, but I made sure to get in at least 10,000 steps. My hips are really sore for some reason. I did an Intensity premix. I plan to get back on schedule tomorrow. Waves to all and I hope everyone is feeling better and less grump. ;-)

Enjoying a mini heatwave here at last! Having said that I did spend a large chunk of yesterday glued to my telly! Well done Andy!! It was fantastic!
Managed to fit a workout in on Sat. Did my first Jillian Michaels, the week 1 from ripped in 30. Tougher than I expected. Everything seems to be tough at the moment, not sure why!

Murphy & Mary - sounds like you're both refreshed and ready to get back in the saddle again. Hope the wrist is OK!

Jody - SC is a hard one especially with the core. I only did that premix once!

Roxie - oops! I can't imagine I would do any better!

Hi everyone! Well, tried a few push-ups, didn't work so well, so I did XT legs. Ronne, congrats on Murray's win! Your trip is coming up, bet you are getting excited! Lisa, does the brace come off today? Today is your freedom day! When is DH getting his colonoscopy? Jody, I'm so sorry. I'm going to give it a week and hopefully start next Monday, you were my first thought after I fell! Murphy, where did you go for vacation? Someplace fun? We had 17 family members together! Some fireworks, literally and figuratively! Roxie, sorry about the lake trip! Kind of funny the way you describe it tho! How is GS? Today just getting everything back where it belongs, have a good day! Mary
 
I'm free, I'm FREE! Neck brace is off! I already feel a ton better without that boat anchor around my neck. PT on Thurs, same day as DH colonoscopy, busy day it will be. I'm sitting here with a nice new heating pad or around my neck and shoulders have any brace to work around, oh what relief!

Need to get off teh Percocet, maybe I can now that I don't have that brace digging in everywhere and I can get heat where I need it easily. Now just working on getting range of motion back and these stiff muscled unstiffened! I can do elip (no arms), but I think I start walking the dog. Weight restriction is now 30 lbs, but I probably won't do any weights, I want to just get to where I can do normal stuff first! Said overhead weight work is harder on neck (interesting). Got a new heating pad that is shaped for shoulders and neck, I'm in hog heaven. Go back in 6 weeks after getting more x-rays to see if bones are fusing (still have to wear that darn bone stimulator 4 hrs a day, small price to pay).


Ronne, Yea, for Murray! This is first year I haven't watched any tennis.

Mary, hope your wrist is just a minor set back

Roxie, Mary is right, it is kind of a funny story, though I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time

Murphy, you snuck off on a vacation, vacation ninja style :)

Jody, you've seemed to be down in the dumps a lot, not your normal crazy workout self. Hope your funk (or nms) ends soon.

Lisa, yea!! You've done an amazing job of keeping up w/ all your treatment and following directions, keep it up! LOL to boat anchor. Re grumps, i just need to get some stuff to shift, soon.

Mary, sometimes being with family makes you feel beat up, stressed out and worthless. Oh wait, maybe I'm talking about me again. I hope your wrist feels better asap. What do *you* want to do? skip M1? I was flip flopping between STS and Rachel Cosgrove Drop 2 sizes right until this afternoon. STS more isolation and D2S total body. In the end, I looked at Cathe's physique in STS decided to go for it.

-for the record, I don't keep up with Cathe *a lot* of the time in her workouts. I'm often slower and do fewer reps. Like with that push up/sit up combo in SC? I'll leave out one whole set of each or just do 4/4. I was thinking today that being to move quickly in the workouts is part of the fitness level I haven't achieved. I'm thinking about playing the senior card!

Roxie, I felt bad for you and can relate. But keep in mind that part of the reason a boat is hole in the water into which you pour money is b/c of shit like that happening! Aren't you supposed to have another person in the boat to watch the skier so you can just drive? You were just understaffed! hugs!!

Murphy I love Intensity, good one to jump back into things. I hope you all had fun on vacay.

Ronne, yea! for Andy. Keep us posted on JM and Ripped in 30. Her Body Revolution is on my wish list for someday.

I wasn't in the mood to workout today but I ended up to CK25 WK6 D1. Its really hot here today.

Jody-DH ordered a mirror so I could see what he is doing when he skis.

Lisa-I am glad to hear you lost that uncomfortable brace.

Lisa - Hurray!! So pleased for you! It is literally a weight off your shoulders! Hope things continue to make good progress. Glad to hear you're not thinking about jumping back in but are taking things sensibly.

Jody - For what it's worth, it seems to me that heavier weight work is the way to go (maybe even more so at our age!) I don't have STS but the best sense of achivement I've had in exercise has been monitoring what I lift and seeing the numbers go up.

Roxie - enjoy the good weather!

Mary - be careful! Good move switching to legs. I bet you're doing a mega clean and clothes wash aren't you? Love the fireworks comment!

Weather seems to be sticking around - getting us warmed up for our trip. Did Tabatacise today, 1–4. Don't think I'll ever do all 5 again! Felt like just the right amount of work.
Work picking up again, will probably have quite a lot to get through in the next few weeks. (And then the money can come in while I'm away!)
 
I goofed off this morning but plan to do 3 miles at lunch. I have to plan it right b/c of the heat. DD has track tonight. Maybe I will do it while she is doing her thing. It will be much cooler.

Mary - we were in Buffalo, NY. We have family there. We also took the kids to Niagra Falls. They had a great time.
Lisa - congrat's on getting the brace off. Don't worry, Cathe will be kicking your butt again in no time.
Roxie - it is pretty hot here too. It has been raining a lot, but thankfully the rain is now quick showers and not the torrential downpours we had the last two weeks.
Jody - enjoy STS. I really liked it and saw results.
Ronne - I don't watch tennis but I am happy if you are happy.

Walked 1 mile last night and 1 mile this morning....DH is going with me and the dog. I'm pretty out of shape!

Jody, play the senior card :) Actually I think my new philosophy is going to be "don't work harder, just work smarter". Anything is better than nothing, this may be the time we have to watch diet more.

I slept all night on my heating pad that I just bought, it is wonderful, conforms to all the important areas. I feel less tight. First thing I did this morning after walking, put gelatin in my hair! My hair just has no substance to it (thought it is down to my bra strap), need gelatin to give my fine hair some structure!

Murphy, it's hot no matter what time of day it seems! No wonder everyone has been wanting the A/C cooler but I wouldn't let them I was cold since I didn't really go outside much, and I certainly didn't do any movement while outside.

Ronne, there are a lot of moves in Cathe's workouts I will need to be careful on. Even jumping jacks on discs, they may be low impact, but it joggles your neck a lot (at least it seems to for me). But I'm looking at it that it's good enough that I do something even if it isn't exactly what Cathe is doing. It will still be fun and actually there may be less dread factor!
 
Good Morning,

Another hot day here. I didn't sleep very well last night for some reason my eyes are watering and they are crusty, I know its allergy related. I did my trainers WK2 Workout 1 rotation and it was tough and then I walked on the TM for 30 minutes to loosen things up plus I did Total Body Stretching 1.

Week 2:
Plank on Forearms 1 min
Jacks (hands on step or risers)
Pushups 15 reps
Dips 20 reps
Lunge Pulses 30 reps each leg (one foot on risers)
Step Ups 15 each leg (quickly).
Repeat 3 times.

Lisa-nice job on the walks and I think we are all getting to the point where we need to modify more.

Murphy-no rain here we really need it.

Ronne-to hot to enjoy unless the lake water warms up so we can get in it.
 
Did the 3 miles and feel good. Of course the slice of cheesecake I had probably counteracts the benefits of the exercise, but they both made me feel good!
 
Hello all! Today did a premix from AT. Lisa, sounds like you are loving your freedom! I wonder what sort of exercises PT will have you do? I'm so happy for you! And your hair! Murphy, 3 miles at lunch is impressive. Is it indoors or out? So humid here, I would be a sweaty mess! Roxie, is it a big mirror? I don't think I would be very good at driving a boat, I'm not all that great with a car! Ronne, are you renting a car in CA? Will it be weird driving on the other side of the road? Jody, I am determined to start next Monday! Still sore, think I just strained it. If not for all the working out I probably would have broken it. I saw the orthopedist today. I have a couple of tears of the muscle and a lot of scar tissue. Next Monday I have to get a cortisone injection, then do PT, he said he doesn't think that will work, but for insurance reasons we have to do that. Then I will have to do the arthroscopic surgery again to clean it all up. At least I'm not crazy! Have to feed the kids! Have a good night! Mary
