40 & over checkin - week 7/20

Hi Ladies!

Well I am finally getting a moment to sit down and check the forums. My workout for today consisted of spending six hours walking around Six Flags with my neighbor and our 7 boys ( my 3 and her 4). We barely sat and I pushed a stroller and chased wandering boys back to our group the whole time. I hope that counts for something today because I am so tired.

Reading all these posts are so fun. You are an amazing group of women. I am realizing that I am falling behind with my computer skills. I love all your graphics and avatars and smilies. I have no idea how to do it all but will have fun learning from you. Maybe I will figure out the avatar first.

PugW and HarleysMom I also have gone back to using Sparkpeople recently. I seem to find that is what always works best in the end. I just get tired of doing it every so often.

Lisa and the others using the nutrition site keep posting reviews and info as you use it. I may also cave and try it but I need to look at the demo more closely.

Vilma, love that purple lady!

Scubagirl, wow your t-ball season is a long one! How did the last game go? All our sports are done here but two of my boys are doing karate and I feel like I am there constantly.

Janie, I hope you get your technical problems worked out. Hang in there!

Well I better go we are getting a pretty big thunderstorm here. Maybe we will get rid of that humidity like you Scubagirl.

Hi to all those I missed! Lots of posts here and so fun to read what you all are up to.

Have a wonderful evening everyone
Alison

GOOD GRIEF!!

Hi all,

I'm not liking all this new stuff!

This is my first post in this thread since the change over. What ever happened to "if its not broke don't fix it?" I'm still very frustrated BUT I've decided to keep going and see how I go. I can't work anything! AND I have no patience with computer use either!

This is a quick hi and bye just to stay in touch! I'll be back tomorrow for personals and stuff.

Hi and Bye,

Andrea

Hi everyone,

This rain is making me sleepy. I did abs today but really did not put any effort into it. I then was annoyed because I was up and dressed and felt like I should have done better. Oh well, I will start again tomorrow.

Andrea - I know what you mean about the site. It was confusing, overwhelming and annoying at first, but I kept at it and it got better. There is so much to see and sample (a lot I don't expect to use) so it is a little more exciting now, but not so much in the beginning. Stick with it, maybe your opinion will change.

Murphy

Hi Andrea - please don't get discouraged. Tell ya what I'm doing...concentrating being able to post in this 40 & Over forum (my fav, I just love you gals)....posting more in the Christian/Devotional Social Group.....dabbling and just dabbling in the pages with the nutrition and all. I just read on the STS Forum that they are having major problems and hope to get it all cleared up today. We'll see, I would just like to hear how close they are with the STS workouts....I'd rather had those first :)

On the diet side of things - it really stinks!!! I'm going to do better, but ya know...right now I'm in a slump and I know it, so I'll roll with it until it's over!!!!! :)

Hope all is well!!!!!

Hi everyone. Well, I did cardio fusion today so the workout is out of the way.

You know, now that I'm tracking my eats, I'm eating better (I know there will still be slip ups...gotta live, right), but I'm sooooo hungry and I feel bad if I go over on the days I'm trying to be really good. I don't like being hungry so I still eat a little something and then I'm at the high end of my calories. <sigh>

Alison,
Once you watch the demo you may just cave to testing out the nutrition software for a month. Six flags can be so draining and not as invigorating as a workout, so treat yourself to a workout today. Your boys must be young still, did you say you had 3? Wow, I have 2 boys, they were energetic when young and now that they are teenagers all they do is eat! I could not imagine having 3.

Vilma,
What do you think of the demo for the nutrition? I haven't seen/used WW, how does it compare?

Anyone else using the free food logging sites (sparkpeople, etc), how do you think it will compare?

As I've said before, I've never used any food tracking so I don't know which option is best.

Mary,
I like sweets too, but after seeing my sister (only 49) being diagnosed with diabetes I decided it wasn't worth it. I still will have an occasional little sweet, but then I'll know I won't feel as good (sugar high/crash) and I evaluate if it is worth it. I'm sure my nutrition in other areas too aren't even close to where I should be, but I do like to live a little.

Gotta run for now, later.....

Hi everyone

Did an Amy Bento KBX premix today and the sweat was flying!

I can't add to the opinions on nutrition software as I never do anything like that. I workout so I can cut myself some slack on what goes in my mouth! :D

Andrea
I found this new version really confusing to begin with but now I'm getting used to it I really like the new look. It just takes a while!

Murphy
Sometimes you've just got to let those workouts go - I know what you mean!

Tina
I'm sure you'll come out of your slump. Don't give yourself a hard time! ;)

Lisa
You're just like my mum. You know that as soon as she starts talking about something within a few weeks she'll have bought it. I bet you're difficult to buy presents for as well! :)

I may not be around much over the next few days as it's school holidays and I'm out and about with DD. Will probably check in sometime over the weekend.

Take care.

Quick Fly by post for now as I'm sitting here in wet sweaty clothes :D

Just finished CCv8 and I made my hills between 8.5%-10% so my legs got it good - which I absolutely LOVE.

Haven't had much time to be online so far today so I'll BBL w/ personals.

Toodles for now I'm off to shower

Just a quick question for Vilma before I head home from work....

Can you see a difference in weight loss using Cardio Coach or with whatever workouts you were doing before it?

Hi girls,

I did 4DS- BC/biceps and triceps today. She just about killed me. I know that the cardio in these w/os are shorter and that makes me happy but I was feeling it today. Good w/o though. :)

I don't know if this will help any of you or not that are having problems with the w/o manager but I tried a different browser last night and was able to get it to work. I use a MAC and was using Firefox and haven't been able to play with the w/o manager. I switched back to Safari and was able to access it again. It didn't retain my info I put in after I logged out and came back but I could play with it anyway.

Vilma, I'm not sure what got my beagle?

Murphy, I wish we could get some rain here. We need it.

Alison, six hours of walking definitely counts as a w/o.

I'm using this right now for counting calories. The Daily Plate I like it but I think it would be nice to have everything at one site. I don't know. I might do a month trial or something to see how they compare.

to everyone. I'm running short on time today. I still have some things to get done if I want to come back a little later to play. ;)

Just a quick fly by post for me too!

Thanks to you guys for supporting me over my computer no show skills! That was very nice, especially when I was close to throwing in the towel.

Thanks

Andrea

P.S. I am "over 40" and all this computer whizz stuff is perhaps just too much for this old girl! I now insert a smiley thing but I don't know how! LOL

Hi everyone, It is a beautiful day here, I just finished mowing the lawn(do you think that counts as a w/o?) I love the smell of grass when you are done mowing. I did GSCSB today, I went heavier except on those darn shoulders, I feel like a wimpy girl doing those! Now I need to go make dinner, sometimes I wish there was a magic pill like in Willy Wonka, the magic gum? I hope everyone has a great nite! mary

Well I am just getting home from another long day out with my boys. My family had a get together so it was fun but I missed another chance to workout. Having all 3 of my boys home and ready to go do fun stuff has made it hard during the summer to be as consistent as I need to be. I know the answer is getting up before everyone but I am having such a hard time doing that. If there are any tips to getting up earlier I would welcome them. So no workout today but I should be home the rest of the week so I still have a chance to meet my goals.

Lisa - Yes I have 3 boys ages 2, 6 and 10. They are pretty good eaters but every time I hear about moms with teenage boys I get scared. I can't even imagine what the food bills will be like!

Rhondalynn - Thanks for the tips about the MAC and using Safari. I will have to give that a try since I am on a MAC too. 4DS is one of the few Cathe workouts I don't have yet. I have really thought about getting it because I do get short on time. It's good to hear you like it.

Andrea - I too feel old when it comes to computer skills. I still can't figure stuff out here but hope slowly being on this forum will help me catch up with technology...maybe!

Vilma - Your workout impressed me! It sounds tough. Do you use a treadmill or elliptical?

Scubagirl - I say mowing the lawn counts for sure. That means you had two workouts today. Good job!

Talk to everyone tomorrow.
Alison

Question : Do any of you guys own (at home) an elleptical (cross trainer) machine? If so, do you recommend them for weight loss? AND what brand do you have?

This turned out to be more than one question - sorry!

AND LOOK, LOOK I've got an avatar!! Oh Yeah!

I can do colors too!!

I am now having FUN with this new Cathenation thingy!

YAHOOOO! (I know, its the small things in life that keep me amused and satisfied).

Hi All! Happy Friday Morning!

I'm still a bit tired so I'm getting ready to get some coffee.

Just a quick bit of personals .........

Tina: I don't have much weight to lose, actually thats not my goal but to maintain my weight ( I do deal with a bit of rebound weight at times) and if I lose a few then fine. My goal is more to get my body more leaned and toned .
To answer your question about CC - Yes I can see an improvement with my legs they look toned. Not sure if that helped you . Last year when I started my TM runs using CC & iTreads I can say that yes I did notice a reduction in weight.

Andrea: Lovely avatar photo your girls are so sweet

Alison: I use my treadmill for my Cardio Coaches & iTreads... and yes yesterday's TM was hard I don't see myself using that high of an incline like I did yesterday cause it was tough but I'm glad I pushed myself to see how I would fare. V8 rocks!

Scubagirl: Using a push lawn mower does count! Esp the legs and arms in my book!

I have HSTA on schedule today so I must get going to start .

Have a great day and I will try to get back on here later.

A quick checkin from me. I feel like I'm running around like a chicken with their head cut off. Heck I feel like that most days, and I don't work anymore, I do not know where the time goes!

I did my new Kettlebell Way DVD today.
Wow! I was wondering if the 15 lb gofit KB would be enough and I would say for most exercises it is so I think I'll stick with it and not go get a 20 lb. The hardest exercises for me were the windmill and the snatch.

I felt like it was a good TB workout, I got some cardio at times but not enough cardio to classify as a cardio workout. Not sure if that a correct assumption.
It's different and that is what I was looking for.

I'm feeling it in my buttocks and lats right now. It will be interesting to see where I have DOMS tomorrow.

Then like an idiot, I decided to do PUB too since it was on the original rotation I'm doing. My UB is exhausted, I'm sure to have DOMS tomorrow. But my legs will be ready to do the CCPP challenge Saturday. Then after tomorrow, my whole body will be ready for a rest day!.

And the big news of the day is.........(drum roll please) I lost another pound. Yea! Being commited to that Nutrition pgm is paying off. Now only 5 more to go. I may not get 'A's in all the categories but it is helping me to keep tabs on my eating and helping planning too.

Tina, I felt the CC and iTread resurrected my treadmill from non-use and I think it did help push me past a plateau. I'm sure it would have continued with helping me lose weight but being true to logging everything that goes in my mouth is working wonders. You know it is probably everything all combined. I like how strong and lean it makes my legs feel. Also when I started running (albeit a slow 5 - 5.2 mph) I also felt it in the lats/waist I guess from getting the UB in there to propel me on the sprints.

Everyone have a great weekend!

Hi everyone,

Today I finished the 4DS with LIS/shoulders. Love this one too and so glad I saved it for last. I was a tired girl today. :D My body feels like it's worked hard this week and this is good. Tomorrow will be cardio. I'm also planning CCPP but I doubt I'll do the extra challenge.

Look at you doing the Cathenation thingy. I do have an elliptical and I really like it. It's great for cardio. I have an Octane. It's pricey but a great machine. I had a Nordic Track before and it was good but this one is so much smoother. You can tell the difference. DH got it for me for Christmas last year with the intention of using it himself. He's a big boy so we did needed a good one. He hasn't used it yet but we have a nice machine. I think you can see it in my pics of my w/o room.

Mary, if you find any of those pills, send some my way. ;)

Alison, sometimes you just have to do what you have to do and family comes first. I have no tips for getting up earlier. Thankfully, I don't have to.

Lisa, I have Providence and I believe they are the same w/os? I feel like I get a cardio w/o with most of my KB w/os. I can't believe you added PUB to that w/o. You are a wild woman. My butt was sore for weeks when I first started using KBs. Congrats on losing another pound!

Vilma, I would love to be at goal wt. If I ever get there again, I promise that I'm staying there.

Y'all have a great weekend!
