30/30 HIIT..or for me..more like 30/60

Has anyone tried this yet? I did it this morning and WOW! I had to double up on the 30 sec rest intervals on about half of the workout to get better control of my breathing. I felt like a wimp! :( Just wondering what others thought of it.

I havent done the 30/30, but I did the 40/20 this morning. My breathing sounded like a train whistle! By the end I had to pause a couple of times to get control.....yikes! Good workout though....I like the intensity and duration of this....

I did 40/20 this morning and by the last few intervals I had to lower my step height! Also I wobbled a little going back upstairs after the workout was finished! Whew! I can't wait to try the other two HIIT workouts:)

Cathe and crew certainly make it look easier than it sounds here (I've just previewed so far), but it's SUPPOSED to be anaerobic, isn't it.

Sounds like many of you (and me, I'm sure!) may have to work up to it, which IMO is a good thing. Just think if it were easy right off the bat: no challenge, no growth for the workout, and a very short life for it. And we get the thrill of accomplisement when we can eventually make our way through it more easily.

I did this workout this morning. It's the first one I've tried. I loved, loved, loved
it. My husband was down in the basement while I was working out and came over and asked " hey Jen are you okay" totally embarassing, I was weazing and coughing so badly. I'm not sure if it was the workout or the fact that I've been sick for the past several days. It definitely was anaerobic. I think it is a workout that can easily be worked up to. The time flew by too. I can't wait to try the others. :):):)

Yes, this will definitely be one to work up to. I'm dreading the 40/20. I wonder if I shouldn't even attempt it until I get THIS one down. :D

love it!

Oh yeah, it was tough...but a great workout! Made me shudder to think that it is the "easiest" of the HiiTs.

i did this one this morning and it killed me! the thing that got me most was the air jacks. It was crazy to hear cathe say this one was the easier one of the group!!! I'm scared to do the others.

Kim,

I had the same problem. The first few intervals weren't too bad but after that my rests were definitely more the 60-second variety. The air jacks killed me too! The power turning lunges were the worst for me but I did use an 8" step.

From what I've been reading recently about Hiit
(see Robert dos Remedios' new "Cardio Strength Training" : http://www.amazon.com/Cardio-Streng...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1262120284&sr=8-1 ), that's actually a very good idea.

Hiit is a VERY INTENSE type of workout, and one should gradually progress to longer work periods and shorter recovery periods, and work on increasing intensity of the workouts with longer recover periods before moving on to workouts with shorter recovery periods.

And for those who are finding this workout really intense, good! That's what Hiit is SUPPOSED to be like (dos Remedios describes heart-pounding, nausea-producing workouts). For those who are finding this one easy, and/or are able to chain together two or three of the Hiit workouts, these workouts are NOT functioning as Hiit for you.

LOVED it!!!!

I LOVED this workout! I was able to keep going but def was gasping at points! Loved it when Cathe said the line taps were the last interval because I was just telling myself, that is about IT! But, I survived and cannot wait to do it again. Have you tried CardioCoreCircuit yet? ANother goodie and bring your lungs along!!!

Ok you guys are scaring me!!!! Between air jacks and power lunges, I'm huffing and puffing just reading about this!

I'm getting over a really bad cold so hopefully I can get to this soon. My poor shock bundle has been sitting on my DVD shelf for a week now just begging to be opened!

I loved it!

I absolutely loved this workout! Well, I didnt love it so much during the tuck jumps. I thought my lungs were going to explode. I felt so good when the workout was done though, it felt so good to breathe!!:p

This one is on my schedule for today. I did 40/20 on Sunday and just about died! I used an 8" step, since I didn't want that much impact, and I still was really done for by the end. Yes, I agree, these will be something to work up to (for me, anyway!) and that's what makes us fitter, doesn't it? :D

I was wondering initially if these were going to be challenging enough when I saw that they were all 30 minutes or less. I have been doing Cathe videos for 2 years now, and most of the programs I do are 40-45 minutes long. I needn't have worried. I started with the Pyramid. OMG, I was lame for 2 days. I did 30/30 today and although I could get through it, I had to modify a couple of times. 40/20 looks really hard to me, but I'm looking forward to giving it a go. As always, great job from Cathe and crew!
