What a great thread!
Okay, hmm.....
1. I have a photographic memory for spelling -- if I see a word written once, I can spell it correctly for life. My 17-year-old son has the same trait. My 19-year-old, not so much. ;-)
2. I was born when my mom was barely 30 weeks pregnant (in 1955, this was a HUGE deal), weighed 3 lbs and lost down to 2 lbs quickly. I fit into the palm of my dad's hand. I was given less than a 30% chance of surviving my first 48 hours, then I was upgraded to having *maybe* a 50% chance of living a week, etc. I was nearly five weeks old before my parents were told that I would definitely live. THEN they named me. They were discouraged by the hospital staff from naming me before then because they were told that if I didn't make it, losing "a baby girl" would be easier than losing a baby who had a name.
3. Because I was so premature, the cartilage in my nose and ears had barely begun to harden when I was born, and so from laying on them in my incubator for weeks I have a slightly crooked nose and one ear that's slightly higher and sticks out slightly more than the other.
