Road-trippers - what positive changes have you made in your life in the three months since the Road Trip?

For me, I became a vegetarian, learned A LOT about clean eating, took up running, dropped 8 pounds, sent away for ACE study materials, and kept in touch with all my new, spectacular Cathe friends!

How about you?

Angie

I upped my weights even more and actually got better at circuit-type workouts like Bootcamp and the high step workouts. They used to wipe me out clean before. And today, I was able to do 8 unassisted pull-ups with a narrow, underhand grip (although I sucked with the rest of the pull-ups after that). I splashed water on my face afterwards to make sure it wasn't a dream.

Most important of all, I have a lot of fitness friends I can check with every day, who keep me motivated through periods of bad eating and lack of energy.:)

I met a bunch of awesome friends, took up running as well and completed a marathon. :)

I can't wait until the next Cathe GTG!

:)

I have taken my weight training much more seriously and I have also upped my weights considerably. My body weight has stayed the same, but I continue to lose inches.

I have also kept in touch w/all the wonderful Cathe-ites I met on the road trip.

Great thread, Angie!

I've changed the focus of my workouts to be more goal oriented rathre than checking off days I've worked out on the calendar. I've cleaned up my eating to the point that I am eating 97% clean (still have a little cream in my coffee). I've kept in touch with some of the best people in the world. I'VE QUIT SMOKING!!!!!!

The road trip changed the way I view fitness in general. There were some unbelievably fit people there (LauraMax, Haydee, Pinky, Shonie and lots of others). Before and during the trip, I would compare myself to other people. Once I got back home, I realized, this is MY journey. This is MY body. It's going to react to the way I treat it and feed it and train it. Since grasping that idea, I've lost a pants size, gotten a bit of shoulder definition, lost 5" overall (total of 9 measurements) and gained 1/4" in my biceps.

:)

my hat is off to you wonderful ladies for your accomplishments! I bow in the presence of fitness excellence! Woo!

Thanks, Sarah!

Becky, I think you take the Most Improved Award for quitting smoking! I know you have inspired me to work harder, who knows how many other people you have inspired through all your hard work?!?

Oh, and it's the 512 girls' fault that I'm a vegetarian!!

Anyone else want to share their post Road Trip accomplishments?

Angie

Hmmm... well, I lost another 8 pounds since the road trip. And I can now do 16 pushups on my toes (with lots of grunting). And I've increased my weights for a lot of upper body exercises. Nothing really impressive, but it's a neverending journey for me. I try to get a little stronger, a little leaner, a little healthier with each passing day. And the people I met on the road trip helped to fuel my motivation to keep pushing forward. :)

I'm so envious of you ladies. If you recall, I had to miss Cathe due my mother's visit to ICU. I love reading all your inspirational and hilarious posts, and hope to meet some or all of you at Cathe's next road trip. Please let there be one!!!

Ummm...Originally I had increased my weights, cleaned up my eating, finished videos I had never made it all the way through, and got beautiful shoulder definition. Then I start slacking....Since last week though, I've start following my rotations and eating better again, so maybe I'll have better results to report at the 6 month mark.

Great post Angie! I have cleaned up my eating ALOT. i have lost 4 more inches and about 10 more lbs, which is a total of 30 lbs lost since Jan. I started doing leg workouts with out weights almost everyday and have seen great definition increases in my back, legs and triceps due to increased weight workouts. i have cut out cardio workouts due to knee rest (oddly, it has not negatively affected my results) and am working on returning to cardio.

Great accomlishements everyone! Ya Rock:7

That's awesome, Becky!! Thanks for the reminder that our journeys are individual.

Since the Road Trip, I have felt that fitness is more lifestyle choice than obligation. I enjoy working out even more than before, because I feel like it's really FOR ME and no one else.

I am pregnant now (souvenier from the Road Trip), so my workouts were non-existent for two months. But now I'm working out again, and it makes me feel fabulous!! It's difficult having to modify some things, because I feel like I'm cheating myself.

I have lost 10 lbs and gained a lot of strenght in upper and lower body. I feel much more at home on the forum after meeting everyone and value this place so much. I can't imagine what I would do all day and where I would get my motivation if it weren't for all of you amazing ladies. I can't wait for the next trip.

Well, I broke through a 5 year fitness plateau two months BEFORE the road trip b/c I wanted to be in the best possible shape for the trip, but I've stuck with the "really pushing myself" routine & seen really amazing, fast results (based on comments from friends & family I'm not sure it's a good thing, & I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep at it, but it really is cool watching your muscles grow & seeing the results of a lot of hard work).

OK I drifted...........the most positive change in my life is the fairly consistent stream of emails I get every day from a variety of fabulous ladies I met on the trip that keep me entertained, make me smile & sometimes even LOL (not a good think in an office environment ;) ) and who I know are there for me if I really need them...........oh, the ties that bind! :p

Miss you guys! Can't wait til next year!

Pennstater! That's fabulous news:) Congratulations.

Well, let's see. Fitness/healthwise, I have incorporated a lot more strength training into my routine, and am really enjoying the results of that. I'm also much more aware of what I'm eating, and although I don't eat clean 100% of the time, I am doing much better in that category, and feel great as a result.

As Maximus pointed out though, I'm enjoying some amazing friendships that were kindled by meeting people on the road trip. I now can't imagine life without the three women I roomed with (Lunacat, materialsgirl and finsgirl), and the rest of the heifers are now an irreplaceable part of my daily life and I don't know what I'd do without them.

Who knew that travelling hundreds of miles and rooming with women I'd never met would yield such lifelong bonds:)

PennStater (sorry, I can't remember your real name!) CONGRATULATIONS! That's a rather unique souvenier from the Road Trip! I just got a couple pairs of K-Mart pajamas to bring home!

Emily, Christie, Jes, Laura, Susan - you guys ROCK!!! No wait, we ALL ROCK!!!

And Robin, we will definitely see you at the next Road Trip next year! Start planning now!

Angie
