10# Challenge 9/23

Good morning everyone!

I guess I'll start this off today, although since I'm usually a thread-killer, this should be interesting...:D

Anyway, I did Rodney Yee AM Yoga hip openers this morning, and Butts and Gutts are on the menu for later.

Eating has been good, and I plan to keep it clean and continue to drink more water.

Have a great day ladies. Let's kick it up a notch today!

I am going to go running in a few minutes for the first time in over a month. Hope my PF doesn't flare too badly.

Went out to dinner with a friend last night. Since I knew I would be out, I didn't eat much throughout the day.

My daughter has a volleyball game late afternoon and then I have an Open House at my son's school tonight so those 2 things should keep me out of the house during my "eating hours."

Good morning Denise! I tried yoga last fall and started with a Rodney Yee one. After about 10 minutes of moving my body in ways it had never moved before - I pulled my back out and was laid up for days. I would love to be able to do it since my joints have really taken a beating with all of the high impact stuff through the years but I am scared to death to injure my back.

Hi everyone! I'm down 2 pounds today so I feel like I've got my eating sorted out at least during the work week. Now I just need a better plan in place for the weekend.

Workouts have been good. Kung Fu class last night and 2 miles. Today will be LIC (a premix) and hopefully 3 miles if my achilles feels ok.

Hi there! I thought I was the only thread-killer around here;) I'm checking in with the forums to get my butt in drive again!

I did Circuit Max this a.m. and that was a killer workout 470 calorie-burner. Needed that! Plus I'm doing STS Meso 2 and have had a hard time keeping on track with that. (Stressful month...lack of sleep...17 yr. old daughter....dont ask!!)

I recently bought Rodney Yee's Power Yoga and the other yoga tape you mentioned. I think he's very good, and yes, I pulled some muscles too that made me have to pull back on exercise. Only lasts two days but still... it reminds us that even though we CAN indeed get in that position and hold it, we'll pay for it later!

Anyway, I have been beating myself up mentally the last two weeks because I weighed in at 127.5 lbs the first of the month (Best in sooooo long) and now I've put on 2 lbs. I usually try to weigh myself on the 1st of each month, but I knew my stress-eating would get to me and I was right, plus my lack of energy....can you tell I'm stressing??

Any words of endearment will help at this point!! Got any??

I've already slapped myself up this morning  and said I got to get out of this slump (plus did sleep okay 1-2 nights..). I scheduled the rest of the Meso 2 workouts so I get them done so I can make it to the rest week!!
Plus, I've been trying to incorporate the cardio 35-60 minutes so I can get psyched up for the STS cardio coming.

Thanks for letting me rant and rave...I needed that! I hope you all have great workouts the rest of this month!

Hello folks. I missed my workout this morning, but plan on GS chest and back this afternoon. Got in KPC yesterday am, and golfed in the afternoon. I did pretty well with the food at the clambake that followed. It's the wine that got me.

Cheryl, please don't beat yourself up. You'll have those 2 pounds gone in no time, especially since you know why you gained it. My problem is the 2 pounds that show up and for the life of me I can't figure out why.;)

Cindi- nice going with the 2 pounds.

LOL maybe we should rename the group the threadkiller challenge as I was sure I was the one best at killing a thread.

Enjoy the day. Off to the weight room.

Hey everyone! Yesterday's workout was Drill Max, that one definitely kicks butt! I forgot how much is packed into that workout. Since the weekend I haven't had major slip ups with food but I gave myself permission not to be VERY strict and it seemed to have helped. According to the scale this morning I'm down 2 pounds but I don't know if I believe it. This has happened in the past where the weight would be down then back up again in a couple days. I don't get it. I won't weigh myself again until next Tuesday and see if it sticks, or should I say stays off :).

Hope everyone is having a great day so far.

Where on earth are you guys getting this thread killing stuff? You are not thread killers! Good heavens! :D

Well I am officially back in the saddle. Clearly my antibiotics & my stomach thing had an all out war over the w/e, & yesterday the antibiotics emerged victorious. :) Did bis/back/abs last night at the gym, & LIC cardio premix this morning, felt good enough to pop in Tracey's Step Sweatfest just to get the cal burn over 400. Off to the gym tonight for legs (oh no!) & chest. Clearly I am playing catchup. But I will not overtrain. I'll do cardio tomorrow & take a rest day Friday. Saturday I might do Drill Max just to punish my body for betraying me. LOL!

Yesterday I had chicken soup & crackers for lunch, & rice mixed with chicken broth for dinner. I felt well enough to have a banana & PB for dessert. I really enjoyed all that stuff too, b/c those are the last carbs I'll eat until I lose some weight. ;) Off to the market at lunch for some proteins & salads!

Deb, that was an interesting article. Funny, I don't really have those between meal problems. I only have a weekend problem. :p We'll see how this w/e goes.

Other Debbie, I know I shouldn't but I'm laughing at your yoga story, it sounds like something I would do! My muscles are way too tight for that stuff. Not to mention I have issues sitting still for longer than 20 seconds or so.

Cindi, you do kung fu? What kind? I love martial arts. I wish I had the time & money to start again, but I can't fit it in w/the gym time & expense. Such a great workout.

Cheryl, I feel just as frustrated! I've barely eaten the last few weeks & spent half my time in the bathroom , you'd think that needle would just MOVE! Don't get discouraged. I'm trying to look at it as two steps forward, one step back instead of one step forward, two steps back. Stay consistent w/the exercise & clean eating, the weight loss will sneak up on you. And we'll feel so fabulous when we do see results!

Laura - I do the Shaolin Longfist style of Kung Fu. I've been doing it for 5 years now along with my husband and our three children. It's slow moving program - I'm planning to test for my brown belt before the end of the year. We've done Tai Kwon Do also but couldn't manage the cost and schedule of both and went back to focus just on Kung Fu. I've done a little Tai Chi too.

Our class is through our park district so the price is very reasonable. Might be something to look into if you are interested. :)

Hi all

So far so good on the milk rations. I've only had it on my oatmeal and in a couple of coffees. No pints as of yet. Its only a day lol.
Had a terrible nights sleep last night. I've altered some medications and I think they don't quite suit me. Could only manage a couple of hours sleep. Felt like death warmed up today. As a result no workout. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.

Good job on the workouts ladies.

Laura

Hey Ladies,

Sorry for the late check -in back from Rochester trip and have my workout clothes on so as soon as soon as I am done with this I am going to work out....IMAX 2. Eating today was so so being on the road

B - 1 cup of Cheerios, skim milk, 1 hardboil egg, coffee
L - I stopped at the rest stop on the Thruway and could have had pizza but decided on blueberry scone and a cup of coffee and an apple from Starbucks....figured bettered than the pizza I was so hungry (still not the best choice but not much to choose from.)
D - Steak, green beans and spinach

Today was 4ds double cardio premix. I could take or leave the LIS part of the 4DS. It just doesn't get my heart rate up.

I worked today during the day so that kept me from eating anything I shouldn't.

Debbie: interesting article,

Laura: My problem is the weekend also. Maybe because we try so hard during the week on a restricted meal plan that we do all our inbetween snacking on the weekend. Just a thought.

Need to go prepare dinner we have soccer practice later.

B: 1/2 oats, 1/2tsp of flax seed, whey protein,1cup skim and 1/2frozen banana
L: CE chicken casserole,1/2C low fat yogurt and 1tblsp chopped almonds
S: 1 apple and 2tblsp of NPB
D: turkey breast, marinara sauce and some noodles
S: if still hungry I'll have some whole grain crackers and goat cheese

That's all for now.

Hi there! I thought I was the only thread-killer around here;) I'm checking in with the forums to get my butt in drive again!

Ha! Got you both beat as I am a Check-in Killer. There has been more than one check-in that has died right after I joined. :p

I have been running around all day, heck I am still not even home I am at work. My eating has been good again today, so this makes 3 days in a row so I am hopeful! Still, think I will be scared to get on the scale at the end of the week. I did Meso 3, Disc 29 Plyo Legs this morning. Workout was 54 minutes and I burned 481 calories. Those plyo workouts are tough!

May I join in? I'd really like to get my eating under control. Read the EOE and so am more committed to eating better and consciously. Lately my problem is not drinking enough water at work and not getting enough sleep. Of course, my last couple of days have been a struggle with extrabittersweet chocolate too. The phrase can't have just one applies to me.
Thanks, Cookie

haven't checked in too much since we began...been unusually busy for Sept. at work...not looking forward to the actualy start of the flu season but this has been motivating to remind me what is the most effective at keeping one well-good nutrition, a little sunshine on your face, good exercise, hugs from your loved ones, and SLEEP! That's the one that I do poorly on! I was excited to have lost a few this week-this group has been a great motivator-I'm a better lurker than poster :D
Debbie-great article! I have ordered a couple journals from journalsunlimited.com (someone mentioned them on VF-clean, simple, useful looking!) but I feel that journaling has really helped. When a patient laments that they NEVER eat ANYTHING but can't lose weight-I gently point out that even taking a few bites of each dish while cooking or "cleaning" their child's plate can REALLY add up!
take care and who knows...maybe I was the threadkiller :D

I have been unable to post for the last week. No internet since last Wednesday. I did complete my first week of STS ( second time around).
Unfortunately Sunday I came down with a horrible cold. Either because cold has me not being hungry or working out last week I have lost a pound.

FYI a Starbucks blueberry scone is 400 calories.

This is the first time since last January that I have gotten back on track for losing weight. What I learned last year may help all you weekend bingers. I made it through Thanksgiving and holiday parties by planning all the terrible(wonderful) food I was going to eat. I was honest with myself about what I was likely to eat. I then adjusted the rest of the day/week to allow what I wanted. Sometimes I needed to adjust the portion sizes a little bit but I ate everything. When you give yourself permission to eat, (and measure everything) you don't feel like you failed and give up and eat even more. It does slow your weight loss but you don't feel so deprived.

I will always need to record what I eat when I am losing weight but I know it does work. At least I can now stay the same when I'm not "dieting"

No work out yet, if I feel better later it will be disc 4.
