Nancy C. here us your recipe for my fabulous cookies...

kifli Hmm. Does this stuff vary by name alot? I just did a search for kifli (yes, I am obsessed with finding Helen the answer to this) and kept getting some cream cheese and nut kind of thing either with or without chocolate chips. No raspberry jam, no raisins. I had hopes when in my...

Nancy C. here us your recipe for my fabulous cookies...

I even just tried... ... looking in a Russian cookbook for you. No luck. But once I'm done working out, I will glance through a few more books and see if I can find anything close. Or at least another name to try searching under. They sound really good. Karen, who has even more cookbooks...

I know that this is totally unrelated to this forum, but

I'm another one in the "do what you want" crowd D^$# the etiquette police! I'm not married, but I just went to one of the more interesting weddings I've ever been to. They didn't listen to the powers that be, and it was a wedding that just suited the bride and groom to a T. It was in the...

    Worried about kickboxing!

I started with the Chuck Norris, too.... It really is a pretty good way to learn the basics. Every now and then, I'll still pull it out and tack the "aerobic" part on to another short tape (it's a whopping 20 minutes long). And I am always suprised at how much I feel it in my shoulders the...

    Nutrition Buddies

jalapeno brownies I've seen that recipe, but haven't gotten around to trying it yet. I did have some friends once give me a "gift" of jalapeno chocolates, though. I think they just wanted a picture of me tasting them, though (blackmail purposes?). But I foiled them! I just munched away and...

    Completely off topic

also, libraries Sometimes they have really good fitness vid selections (some people have found Cathe's at their libraries, though I've never been so lucky, but I've seen Charlene Prickett's, Karen Voight's, and assorted yoga). It can at least break up the monotony, even if they don't have...

    Soy Protein Powder

finally, a soy yogurt that actually tastes like it For those still in search of palatable ways to eat soy: I was browsing through the local Fruitful Yield (tiny health food chain), and happened across this soy yogurt that I've never seen before. I bought some just to check it out, and unlike...

    Step Height

hi lea I only borrowed PS Legs, so I've done it once, maybe a year ago, so I couldn't remember if Cathe used 12 or 14". But yeah, that's the exercise the Firm does. They show multiple height boxes for it and do explain about the 90 degree thing in the 20 questions videos, though I'm sure not...

    Soy Protein Powder

silk I love the stuff, but maybe I'm weird in that it's the plain that I like the most. I think the vanilla is too sweet and can only use it on cereal (where I agree that it rocks) and in smoothies. Maybe my problem is that I cook with soy milk too much, and you sure don't want to be putting...

    Soy Protein Powder

Speaking of Dixie Diner... I highly recommend their Soy Rocks. Yum, Yum, Yum. And very full of soy protein / isoflavones. Karen

    Step Height

Lea, do you have PS legs? Cathe does an exercise in that tape that is pretty much the same as the Firm does with the tall box. It's not aerobic, so you are going at slow speed, and hence isn't as much of a knee problem as it sounds at first. I've seen the same exercise in Cory E's Basics...

    Gin Miller in Cooking Light

doh! They've been deleting your question? Was that the comment you made in response to that Delaney woman? I just scanned the responses I hadn't read yet, but didn't think to look to see if they had deleted anything.

    week off from exercise

almond milk I've tried it in coffee and it's pretty good. And Blue Diamond makes a fortified one now (the only one I could find before was Pacific, I think, and it had no calcium to speak of). I may be imagining it, though, but when I try almond milk straight, it seems vaguely salty. But it...

    Adult Acne

yep, that was me I'm amazed they printed it, since it was highly critical of THEM for not mentioning problems that could readily occur in their target audience (ie. women of childbearing years). Hmm. Maybe I should photocopy that and put it in my performance review binder (work evaluations...

    week off from exercise

possible half and half sub... Hi Ranae, Check your local health food store (and maybe even "normal" grocery) and see if they carry Silk creamer. That might be the closest thing to half and half. It's by the people who make Silk soymilk, which is my favorite of the soymilks, though opinion...

    Adult Acne

Didn't totally work for me... I tried Proactiv, and it while it worked better for me than did anything the doctor's office ever gave me (antibiotics, Retin-A, other topicals - I refused to consider Accutane; I'm a pharmacist, and quite frankly, I'd rather have bad skin), it didn't solve the...

    Wolff-Parkinson-White, anyone?

my dad has it Took them years (and numerous heart attacks) to figure it out, though, starting at about age 36. When they finally did a procedure on him, I was away at school, and the doctor described it to the non-medical family as "burning out the extra nerve". I'm guessing that's the...

    Body changes after mid-thirties

dixie diner Kathyrn, Thanks mostly to your mention of Dixie Diner, I recently ordered from them. Yum! I ordered some of the "soy rocks" and they were really good. And I like the orange chicken-NOT! rice salad, too. Don't feel like cooking tonight, so I may have to break open another...

    muscle mass and body weight

Thanks, Cleda I'm in the exact height, weight, and size range as you are, and people tell me it can't be possible (I get weird looks at the driver's license branch, and when I go to give blood). Ha! Now, if only I looked as GREAT as you do... but alas, I am not there yet. I've got way more...
