Cathe, is SUBA diving a workout?

I agree with that. It's the water temperature that makes the difference, not the physical exertion. I also wondered if it might be OK to really push it occasionally, maybe if you're not real deep and you're not really likely to use up all your air anyway, but I found out from the DAN (Divers...

How many 'risers' do you all use?

Oh, Boot Camp and Muscle Endurance also use the high step.

    CTX Series or Timesaver

I totally agree with what the others say. CTX is a much more useful DVD than Timesaver. More options and more effective.

How many 'risers' do you all use?

I use 6 for the mini-step and 1 for the long step, and I am 5'8" with relatively short torso, but the impact is too much to do step with an 8" platform anymore, as I am pushing 50. I use 8" for LowMax though.

Best Aerobics for Pear shaped body

Running, kickbox, LowMax and careful eating.

Pure Strength or Slow & Heavy?

Yes, I agree. I would say SH for upper body, PS for lower body.

    Gray Hair?

I found my first gray hair the week my daughter was born, which I thought must be symbolic of something! LOL. Anyway, I was 27. I started coloring my hair in my late 30s, then quit a while, then started again at 45, and now I'm letting it go. It's just SUCH a bother, and I'm sick of it. My face...

That was a hilarious story, Haydee. Thank you. Liane

    Resistance Bands

I use cornstarch to repowder mine from time to time. I just sprinkle some on the kitchen counter, then rub the band all over it and then pick up the band and rub it between my hands. I don't keep it in a plastic bag. I got my green band with the Hardcores and it's still fine also.

Pure Strength or Slow & Heavy?

Well, I'd have to agree with Marietta. But not for the same reasons. I love SH and don't think it's too slow. I find it more effective too. But I hate the leg workout. It's too short and I can't really go heavy enough, no floor work, and I don't like the preexhaust sets or the plie squats with...

    Speaking of Aging...Clothes?

I'm 48 and can wear 2s and 4s, but I don't like looking like I'm trying to pretend I'm a teenager. Not that I want to look "dumpy", but I tend to select classic looking things that I would also have worn when I was 25. I do have some low-rise jeans. I do tend to show a lot of my arms in warm...

    Power Max revisited!

This was my first Cathe also. I still own it on VHS, don't do it often, maybe twice a year lately, but I still enjoy it when I do it.

    Core Max in Glamour Magazine

It helps me to put the step top on the floor (the 4" top of the full step) and do the levitation holds that way. My legs hang off the end in Indian-style position, my hands are on the step and I can lift my body more easily that way.

    Does anyone eat Sardines

I'm mostly vegan myself, but my grandmother, who was Spanish, used to eat a can of sardines on top of a baked potato, with a little minced raw onion on top, and black pepper. It was an easy supper when she was just eating alone. She lived to be 100! (Not saying that's why, but she did eat a lot...

Clean eating - how do dairy products fit in?

I think nuts and nut butters are a great substitute for the "stick to the ribs" nature of cheese. Very satisfying. Peanut butter on a banana or apple is great. Just like cheese and fruit to me. A small handful of walnuts and some raisins or grapes. Stuff like that.

    best leg workout for hamstrings???

I agree with all of that. PLB is probably the best for hamstrings, but I wanted to say that PS Legs, because I use much heavier weight, and it has that hamstring work at the end, actually creates more DOMS in my hamstrings than any other. LL is the "winner" for quad soreness. I just did it...

    Exercise bike

I use the Boot Camp All-but-core premix with my stationary bike. I do a hard interval when Cathe does cardio, rest while she rests, then go to an aerobic speed for the lower body and upper body. I end up riding 12 miles in the 45 minutes, plus a warm up and cool down. You can also do intervals...

    Trader Joe's

Just had to pop in and say I love to buy strange things in TJ's too. Last time I tried dried dragon fruit. Really nice flavor, not too sweet, totally purple.

CM with barbell - thanks to whoever suggested this!!

RE: CM with barbell - thanks to whoever suggested this!... Yes, thank you to Aquajock. I've done this several times now too. I use 35 pounds on the barbell and it is just right, cardio-wise. I like this so much better I don't think I'll ever do it again with the upper body moves in there.
