    Just a thought for the OP but you might try doing a 2:1 approach with weight training. 2 posterior exercises (pull) to 1 anterior (push) exercise.

    I recall that Brenda broke the top of the femur at the joint and had pins. I don't remember her having her hip replaced though. Regardless she has recovered quite nicely.

    Justinef I do bench presses with dumbbells and position my arms (elbows) at a 45* angle out from my shoulder to keep the anterior delts out of the work. I also limit flyes to reduce shoulder pain too. I read about the 45* angle from muscle & strength I think.
