    Looking for some Cathlete wisdom

I was questioned by a coworker the other day concerning osteoporosis. She knows I weight lift etc and wondered what I've come across about the subject. I'm going to share with her my Dr. Sims book, Next Level, because there is a chapter about bone density. I did promise her that I would ask...

    Floor Chest Press or Bench?

I'm thinking that some of the difference is simply about getting into position. Some people don't want to wrangle heavy weights into position on the floor. It may be easier the way Cathe often deomonstrates by resting the dumbbells on the thighs, then sitting down on a bench and hoisting them...

    Larger Round Mat?

I'd buy one if it was larger too. There might be issues in the manufacturing and shipping of them but if they can . . .

    Live DVD Series

Well, nice idea but I just tried to purchase 1 download and it just says transaction failed. I have no idea why. I'll have to double check my card balance because it is a pre loaded card, but there should be plenty to cover $9.97! Ah, technology . . .

    Live DVD Series

I'm so glad I read this. I don't have internet at home and only use dvds but I've often wished I could do the Cathe live workouts. From what I see in the clips they are just as good as the dvds. Anyway, you have given me an idea that maybe I can download to my cheap (and I mean cheap, the...

    Follow Progression

I think if you look closely, not all members are lifting the same weight. I've been lifting with Cathe (well not only lifting) for about 15 years and I started from ground zero, just figuring it out on my own. I slowly increased weight as I could, focusing on what I can do. Now that I've worked...

? on Glute Bridges ... barbell v dumbell

I've done the hip thrusts with a barbell but my barbell is an Olympic curl one I bought years ago at Dick's Sporting Goods because it was a short bar. I found because it is not a straight bar I have not been able to pad it sufficiently and the curve in the bar makes it impossible to use...

    Cathe's Upper Body Birthday Party

Happy Birthday Cathe! I never celebrate mine except for doing a favorite workout which of course would be one of yours. I have a question: what does your t-shirt say? I can clearly read the Happy Birthday tanks but not yours. I must say I'm jealous of the Cathe t's.

    STS 2.0 with lighter weights

Echoing those before me, do what is right for you. Heed Cathe's advice though: "If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you" I believe is what she has said. Since I've been working out with Cathe (15 years now) I've found I crave for new workouts not only mentally but physically.

Little cardio with STS 2.0 understood

I'm totally on board with limiting cardio this time of year anyway. I generally do more lifting when it is so hot. Cardio when it is hot and humid just sucks. Not to mention I have to work in the gross humidity all day at work and that really takes it out of me. I have to drink electrolytes so...

    mini ball help

My trick: I used the pump and tip from my exercise ball. I do agree that what was provided did not work.

STS 2.0 Metabolic Core - love it!

Yup, the ab workouts are a hit with me! Not doing endless crunches and bike maneuvers is great.

    Thoughts on Intermittent Fasting

Always remember that you need to fuel your body to do your workouts and to help your muscles recover. From what I've read recently, lifting on empty is counter productive.

    Cathe Weighted Vest

Maybe this will prompt Cathe to do a weighted vest again. I've been considering one because my hands would like a break. There are days that it would be nice because I work with my hands and holding onto heavy weights is almost overload. Also it would be a nice way to go beyond 35 & 40 pounders.

    Not hardcore but trying

Joan, please don't feel intimidated at all. The beauty of Cathe workouts is that you can customize them to your abilities. We all have to start somewhere and work through physical limitations, illnesses, and whatever challenges life throws at us. I find there is a collective wisdom amongst...

    Tri-Sets Total Body- STS2.0

I did this one yesterday for the first time. I really enjoy all of the total body workouts but weirdly enough there was one set that was the most difficult for me out of all of the workouts. That was the triceps triset. I did the same weight as Cathe and was especially struggling on the...

Hiccups between chapters in STS 2.0

I also saw hiccups while playing the Active Recovery plus Total Body stretch premix just as someone described it (where the chapters should occur). I haven't had a chance to see if it does it on other parts of the same dvd. I have a basic Sony dvd player with an HDMI cable hook up. I'm no...

Requesting the first week of workout schedule for 1 month and 3 month rotation

No complaints from me! I've just jumped right in with the first disc on Thursday and yesterday I did a couple of the abs--standing ab warm up and abs with the ball. I love the the variety of movements and laughing at myself on a few of the moves with the ball. No guide needed here! When it is...

STS 2.0 Total Body Giant Sets

I jumped right in and did the full Giant Sets workout and loved it. I matched Cathe on her weights for all exercises and know there are already some I can increase. I wasn't sore the next day, just happily tired. The hardest, and funniest, part was trying to figure out how to get into position...
