    Workout Warriors Jan 17th - Jan 23rd

Okay, all of you, it's called "Atletica", without the "h". And I swear, I leave for a couple of days and it turns into the enablers thread!

    Workout Warriors - Jan 10th - Jan 16th

So, just to give a DOMS update the day after, feeling it still in my back and up into my shoulders. I went for a 12K run this morning, and felt it a little in my hamstrings afterwards, but I definitely think this hit the upper body more, deadlifts notwithstanding. Of course, the run shook...

How do you modify Cathe workouts?

Well, keep in mind that I did the workout as a strength workout, not endurance, and had much lower reps than Cathe intended. When I do the workout as Cathe intended with 16/12 reps, my weights are usually about this level: All deadlifts: 75lb barbell All lunges: 20lb dumbbells Squats...

How do you modify Cathe workouts?

Well, I'll repost what I wrote in the check-in I lurk in: Okay folks, I really feel the need to brag about this morning's workout (it lessens the obnoxiousness of bragging if you tell people you're going to do it first, right?) I did STS Total Body and modified the pure hell outa it. I did it...

    Workout Warriors - Jan 10th - Jan 16th

Shit, I just typed this huge message to everyone - my first attempt at a Janis-style check-in, hit the wrong key, and it's all gone. Well, that was that. Consider that I responded to each of you in a very special way, really getting at the heart of anything bothering you, gave you incredible...

    Workout Warriors - Jan 10th - Jan 16th

Okay folks, I really feel the need to brag about this morning's workout (it lessens the obnoxiousness of bragging if you tell people you're going to do it first, right?) I did STS Total Body and modified the pure hell outa it. I did it as a very slow heavy workout, with reps in the 10-12 range...

Some of my favorite things.....(just for fun)

This was ridiculously hard for me - all my favourite things are related to working out and running or are alive. 1. my programmable coffee machine that gives me a reason to get up 2. my Reed and Barton hammered steel cutlery 3. my Sony walkman with drag and drop and my Curvyman that ties up...

    Workout Warriors - Jan 10th - Jan 16th

Hey guys, today I did my patented (not really) CardioCoach Premix #9 (LOVE that one) to work and a fun run home. Not so fun, though, as I had some gastrointestinal issues on the way...

    Workout Warriors - Jan 10th - Jan 16th

Hey, mine lasted a month! I guess that's not so bad after all! Now if it had been irish cream fudge... I wasn't feeling so great today. I started out with severe stomach cramps that didn't last long, but made me scream while they lasted. They subsided, but I was left with major energy...

    Workout Warriors - Jan 10th - Jan 16th

I'd rather not say what I do for a living, but yep, I do get sweaty. It's not the sweat that smells, it's the bacteria that, when left to fester, grows and becomes stinky. So I wear moisture wicking clothes and change them right after my workout. Now, we're in the middle of a Canadian winter...

    Workout Warriors - Jan 10th - Jan 16th

Yep, I was right (seriously, Janis, am I EVER wrong?) Rowan's a boxer brief kinda dude, although I'm not sure gray's his best colour. I'm sure your hair is lovely, and worth every penny and second of time spent on it. Mine reflects the time and money I spend on it too - 'nuff said on that the...

    Workout Warriors Jan 3rd - Jan 9th

Okay, don't expect this too often, but I sent this to Janis, so thought I'd post it here (both laziness and expediency). I've been sick the last couple of weeks and am just starting to come out of it: The 1st I was really still quite sick, but I was bound and determined to run, just for...

What things can you NOT live without?

For anyone interested in this topic, I strongly recommend David R. Palmer's Emergence, a post-apocalyptic novel. Best book on the planet, IMO.

    Workout Manager - WOW!

It says my BMI is 195, so I'm not wild about that part! Clearly, there's something I'm supposed to enter and haven't.

    Changing Mark Twain

A couple of weeks ago, I tried to listen to Huck Finn on audio book. I just was so disturbed by the racism that I had to stop very quickly. I don't think it should be changed for everyone for all time, but it might be nice to have the option of listening to a less racist version. I get how it...

Open Invitation to everyone to join our Workout Warriors check-in

I've lurked on your check-in for a long time and it's nice to see you guys starting back up! If I was going to do a check-in, I'd do this one, but I'm just way too busy to be a regular participant and I have too many other things to feel guilty about not keeping up with! So I'll probably...

Is this the Year of the KettleBell?

I'm pretty much over kettlebells. I don't find they really hit the muscles the way I want them to and there's too much potential for injury. Kind of fun once in a while, especially the swings, but not for serious strength training for me.
