    The Having Kids Debate

First and foremost, it's okay to not want children. You are not a freak of nature and you are not some awful ogre. You are simply an intelligent woman who knows her mind. I'll bet for every story about how wonderful being a mom is, there are, right here on the Cathe boards, an equal number of...

    What are you reading?

I have to agree that the Red Tent is an amazing book! I highly recommend it! I'm almost done, and I don't want the story to end.

    outgoing or homebody

I'm married to a man who has to be one of the most social on the planet. We're constantly on the go. I enjoy it for the most part, except when things last past 10PM. I'm up at 4:30 during the week to get in my workouts, so by 10, I'm toast. If I stay up too late, I'm still awake early and...

If your happy and you know it....

Happy it's Friday and my DH's birthday and we have fun dinner plans with the kids Happy my boss thinks I'm doing such a great job. Happy I have my pretty baby girl's senior pictures on my desk so I can look at her beautiful face whenever I want (and at least in these, she's always smiling :p).

    vegas/Yosemite/SF trip?

You can spend a week in any one of those locations. :P I think you'd be better off picking two. Either Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon or SF and Yosemite. The sheer driving involved otherwise would be pretty overwhelming to get everything done in a week. It could be done, but you would not...

What happened to my summer (RANT)

Okay, this Californian is going to stop complaining about the last few days of rain I've endured - especially as they came after basically 5 months of sunshine. But we also had an odd summer. Temps were either 10 degree below normal or over 100. There was not much in between. I've heard...

Bear cub no match for 200lbs of weights!

Had to chuckle because I've been doing a bit of bulking up this season, too. Fortunately, i think it's under control and the weight is starting to come back off, but MAN at one point I was really wondering if my thyroid was out of whack.

    Nan VS the Guacamole

Well, at least guacamole is healthy. It may not be slenderizing, but it is good for you. It could be a lot worse. Good job at working it off!

Is the treadmill bad for you?

My friend who is a doctor who specializes in MRI's says to not use treadmills as well. He says that the treadmill forces you to run and walk in a very unnatural position and can seriously aggravate knees and hips. He says he sees more injuries from people using treadmills than any other piece...

Question about Needle Biopsy for Thyroid

My doc said that he could not give me anything. So I did it stone cold sober, and honestly, it was not as bad as it sounds. The needles are very fine and yes, it's scary (I have a healthy desire to live and my instincts screamed that poking needles in my neck was not a good way to do this)...

    Passing Out

My step daughter has had this happen twice. For her it's a combination of low blood pressure when standing up quickly and not eating enough. They will put her through a battery of tests (although, we have really good insurance, and I think the hospitals milked us a bit on some of those...

Injury from Chalean Extreme. Anyone hurt themselves over doing it?

I know several people who have hurt themselves with CLX. I started feeling it in my sciatica nerve from leaning over with the heavy weights. I have three friends who messed up their wrists from gripping such heavy weights. Shoulder injuries are common. I stopped the program and traded it on...

Did Insanity live up to its promises??

I can't speak to real results as I've only been doing Insanity for a couple of weeks, but I can speak to the workouts. I do find them fun. They push me in a different way than other workouts do. Even my DH who sees me work out in the AM as he readies himself for the gym, says that they look...

    great transformation

I've done TT. For the most part it's workouts from paper. It is basically set of exercises repeated three times - squats, lunges, push ups, pull ups, and ab work. They are good programs and will kick your butt, but they are not for everyone. I just put on some rocking music and go to town.

    Wish me luck...extensive bloodwork today...:(

Clarissa - I can't help you with the bloodwork, but I also have a goiter and some large nodules. I went through the "C" scare and got a lot of help from the wonderful ladies on this forum. I will tell you, that nodules are rarely cancerous (mine were not) and even if they do come back...

    Day Hiking (Trekking) Shoe Recommendations

Merrell's have the arch in the wrong spot for me and are very uncomfortable. I swear by Lowa's. So, everyone is different. I also think a good pair a Keen's might work well, although as Claire pointed out, there are creepy crawlies. Keen's have pretty enclosed sandals that provide just...
