5ks - getting addicted to running

Thanks everyone! I was so proud of DH yesterday - he got first in his age group as well, but 5th overall out of 74 runners and ran a 6:48 pace. Holy cow! Thanks also for the info on the IT band issues. It's really frustrating. I'm going to keep "rolling" with the foam roller (it's SO...

5ks - getting addicted to running

Hi Jane, You'd laugh, but running in the 13 degrees was actually more bearable than I thought. Yesterday's race was 40 which was PERFECT. Honestly, I'd take cooler over 90's anyday. Gets too dangerous in the heat for me. We're planning about 1 race per month as well. We're avid campers...

5ks - getting addicted to running

I'm sold! The running bug has bitten dh for the last year and he finally got me to run a race with him last weekend. I've kind of been a recreational jogger/walker, but never took it too seriously. Well, last weekend we ran a 7k (in 13 degrees the day after the Ohio blizzard on snowy,icy...

    Egg Question

In reference to eating clean, I think 1-2 yolks per week is ok. In most recipes I've seen, it usually calls for either only whites or mostly whites with one yolk thrown in. So, it's clean, just don't go crazy! Does anyone think the cartons of egg whites taste any better, worse or...

    Is this inconsiderate or what?!?!

Not a girl scout mom here but a cub scout mom and former samoa (well, I still love them if that's what they're still called...) lover, so can I comment ? :) This happens to us at virtually every den meeting we have. Our meeting is only one hour so I realize this doesn't give much time to go...

Any American Idol groupies here :)

<Snagging Lorrie by ankles as she scuttles out of thread>.... Hey! Do they have a 5k along with the marathon? DH and I are really getting into 5ks and my in-laws are all up in Cleveland. I'll have to see if we are busy or DH is on call that weekend as that sometimes gums things up a...

Any American Idol groupies here :)

Yeah, he is a cutie. The guys are really good and the ones I look forward most to watching. I usually DVR it, though, which honestly saves me 1/2 of the time due to all those damn commercials. Also, if one singer is particularly bad or the judges comments are too harsh/silly then I just...

    ? on cellulite

I feel your pain. I'm hoping my clean eating will help as others have attested to. My thighs and butt have it the worst. WeatherGirl (I'm a weather girl myself ;)) I found your info on the foam roller very interesting. I just purchased a foam roller from Target a few weeks for my IT band...

    ? for all you runners

Jennie, Are you in Columbus? Thought maybe since Brutus is your avatar :) If so, let me know. I have a friend running a half marathon down there in April. She has family down there and knows of specialty stores. I can find out which one is the best if you'd like. Heidi

    Cutting out all whites...

I agree about the potatoes. Obviously you can't slather them with butter and sour cream and french fries are not the best choice, but red skin potatoes either steamed or roasted are excellent and definitely sweet potatoes are clean Heidi

    Clean Eating magazine

I've really been enjoying the magazine and have purchased both issues that have come out so far. I think it'll come out every few months vs. monthly. We've used several of their recipes, and thoroughly enjoy the articles. It's a good read! Heidi

    Cutting out all whites...

I've been off white processed stuff as much as possible since Jan.1, and I feel great. Yes, have dropped a few pounds, but just really feel so much better. Keep it up. My kids groan as well since we eat healthier than other families. My oldest DS told a friend of mine that he likes to go to...

    Airbrush Tan

I bought a package of 5 for about $100 but have used only three. Honestly, I'm not terribly happy about the results. On day one, you look so dark that you are a freak, day 2 through 4 are a bit better, and then the fading, flaking, splotchiness occurs. So, no, not impressed. Guess I ought...

firm box w/cathe wo....moving into small space...

I think the fanny lifter would work for high step stuff - in fact, that's what I used since I didn't have the official high step. However, the transfirmer did NOT work well with step combos. Edges are twoo square, I tripped a lot...Wonder if you could get the smaller version of the step...

    Sugar question

I've been on the "no white sugar/processed" kick since New Year's. The only sugars I do eat are agave nectar, turbinado sugar in my tea, hot cocoa, and one square of dark choc. per day. No white bread, no HFCS, no artificial sweeteners. I can't say there was a switch that went off where I...

Congrats NY Giants and Eli Manning!!

I thought it was a superb game, and I loved seeing the underdog take the trophy! I wonder if they'll now blame the Pats loss on Gisele being there -- I bet they will, lol. Just like Jessica flubbing up Romo? What did you guys think of the commercials? Which was your fave? I liked the...

    breast implants

Are mammograms more difficult and do they affect the readings at all? I've considered it, but with my mom having had and survived breast cancer, it seem really vain on my part and irresponsible if it either is attributed to cancer or impedes/delays diagnosis. Just curious. Heidi
