breast implants

I wanted to ask if any of you ladies had them? I'm going to get them this year and wanted to know if you had them before babies? If you did, were they affected by your pregnancy? How was the recovery process?

I have them and got them before I had a child. They were not affected at all by my pregnancy. I did not BF but I could have. I tried but it just wasn't working out for me or my son and it had nothing to do with the implants.

As far as recovery, I stayed home from work for 10 days. I drove a stick shift car at the time. There was no way I could drive. Perhaps if that wasn't the case I could have gone back to work sooner. I'm not sure though. I can't remember how long there was any pain involved but the full and complete recovery process could take up to 6 months...some even say a year but I do not believe that. That does not mean that your activities will be limited for that long but that you may not see the "final product" until that point as your breasts go through alot of changing after the implants are put in place.

HTH a bit!:)

I have had mt implants for 31/2 years now and love them. I stayed home from work for two weeks. Doctors orders to not drive for two weeks. Part of that is the liability if you are involved in a car accident. This is what I was told when I had my first child.

As far as pain goes, I felt like an elephant was laying on my chest or as though I had concrete blocks attached to my chest. My DH was great with my every request to help make me comfy. I slept sitting up for at least a week.

Hope it goes well for you when you have your surgery. Just don't go too big unless you know that is the look you want. I didn't want people to know right off if I did or didn't have them.

Good Luck,

Christie

I have them, got them done after I literally lost my own large breasts through working out and weight loss. But I have been through numerous surgeries due to complications arising from a "lift" I had.

Please make sure you have a doctor you can trust. And keep in mind placing the implant behind the muscle is always best, it holds them in place and doesn't "ripple" like over the muscle implants. I consider myself somewhat of a "consumer expert" when it comes to breast implants!

Expect alot of swelling at first before they settle in. Its a little painful, but pain is controlled with meds so not too worry.

I am happy with them now, although sometimes I wish I would have gone smaller, I am quite large up top-larger then my once natural size "D" .

My DH loves them, so do I, but there are days I wish I I would have gone smaller. But I love that they stand up at attention and I look pretty good naked again.;) I think breast implants are really a personal thing, and I wish you all the best with your new "additions!":7

I used to be up to a DD and now I'm a "barely B". I must say that shirts fir much nicer now! Personally, I would never get them, but I was wondering if after you get them, don't you lose feeling in your nipples because they cut through nerves?

And did this affect your ability to do push-ups?

I'm just now able to do some serious push-ups with great form and I would HATE to lose that or have to work my way back up to that!

I have not lost feeling at all. And yes, I can still do pushups, I feel like its harder cause like I said earlier, the "girls" are pretty big!;) More weight to push up right?

Are mammograms more difficult and do they affect the readings at all? I've considered it, but with my mom having had and survived breast cancer, it seem really vain on my part and irresponsible if it either is attributed to cancer or impedes/delays diagnosis. Just curious.

Actually they have a new digital mammogram they use for women with implants. So it makes the process less painful and easier to see whats going on.

One thing you might want to check into before getting them is how health insurance will be affected. I was going to get them until a girlfriend of mine who got them said that if I were to get breast cancer health insurance would not cover me. That was quite a blow. That could compeletely wipe someone out financially (my maternal grandmother had breast cancer and a mastectomy, so I know it's in my family history). I got on a breast augmentation forum and that was confirmed. I also found out through that forum that some insurance companies won't even cover you if you have breast implants! That may be more unlikely, but I was shocked to hear that. Others said that some insurance companies charged a higher premium for those with implants. Just be sure to do your research. For me, I wasn't willing to take that risk after working so hard to make sure I had my retirement in good order. I think it was something like justbreastimplants.com. They don't talk about it much, as most people on there are getting them or have just gotten them, but the info is there.

I got them as a 40th birthday present for myself (can you say 'midlife crisis?'). I have 3 kids breast fed them all for >1yr so the girls were not exactly perky. I actually got the smallest ones, 250cc of normal saline, which made me a 'full C'. (Had a lift as well).
The recovery was brutal and I have a great tolerance for pain. If you've ever breasted and have become engorged, that's how I felt every day for at least 3 wks. Couldn't open jars/ bottles, wiping my kitchen clean, pulling open doors at stores . . . .you can't believe how much you use your chest muscles every day till they've been cut. I stayed out of work for 10 days (I'm a nurse, pretty physical job).
My husband thought I was nutty and honestly never thought they were great/better/ etc than ever. He's just that guy who loved me when he met me at a 100 lbs. and loves me now at . . . .quite a bit more ;-) . I had trouble w/ blouses that buttoned down the front pulling and looking tight so that wasn't so great. I loved that buying a bra wasn't like the search for the Holy Grail, trying to find one that fit.
2 mos. ago, for their 8th birthday, I had them removed, and honestly feel much happier without them. Call it growing up, (at 48?!), growing old (more likely) or whatever you'd like.
Good luck w/ your surgery and recovery. Make sure your doc is a board certified plastic surgeon etc. I don't regret having them, but I don't miss them either.
