When/How long did you discover Cathe?

2005, her DVD came with the step; my 1st purchase was 4 day split. I think that's when I truly became hooked and I haven't looked back.

    Weights for Squats

I also have difficult lifting anything over 50lbs over my head so I use the weighted vest which will add an additional 10lbs to my squats. I don't have a squat rack. I think I could go heavier using a squat rack but I do what I can with safety in mind; don't want to risk injury, so I'll add...

    Pushups

I have to agree with everyone here. The more I do, the better I get at it. I do as many as I can on my toes then drop to my knees. Also building core strength is important. When I 1st started with Cathe, I could only do a few but now I can do 20 on my toes & I've done as many as 30 on a good...

    Low Impact Challenge-Learning Curve?

I did this workout this morning & did surprisingly better, but right about the time I tell myself "I've got it", is when I mess up. LOL. Each time I do the wo, it gets a little easier. Still having trouble on combo 4, but I figure eventually I'll get it.

    AfterBurn Bonus Burn

I haven't tried the bonus burn, but AfterBurn is one of the workouts where I end up drenched in sweat & it keeps dripping & running down my arms & legs after I'm done. I'm not sure I'm ready to do the bonus but it's definitely on my "to do" list.

    Low Impact Challenge-Learning Curve?

This one is definitely a challenge for me. I'm not very coordinated either so I usually have to march in place in some spots because I'm having trouble getting the choreography. The 1st time I tried this one I tripped a couple of times. Counting out loud helps me too & watching in slow motion. I...

    Afraid of Slide & Glides

what I've done is do smaller movements; not go as far or as deep until I get comfortable with the movements or only work the legs & then add the arms later. I think you need to do what's comfortable for you. I agree, it is better to be safe than risk injury.

Low Impact Series: What were they thinking?

I'm with NY25 on this one, I haven't notice the music with all my heavy breathing & trying to keep up w/Cathe, but I do feel like my core gets worked with all the balance moves, the dragging planks, burpees, mountain climbers, and the other moves already mentioned.

    Youngest and oldest Cathletes!

I'll be 53 next week. I started with Cathe about 6 years ago when I purchased a step & her DVD was inside. 1st purchase was 4DS.

    What are your substitutes for....

I used 4 - 1/2 weights stacked up for the height; it's all I had on the spur of the moment. They worked fine.

DH said he doesn't want man arms on me grrrr

I'm pretty fortunate in that my DH is in the educated crowd when it comes to weight lifting; plus he likes the results bc it means I can help him unload deer corn from his truck (each bag weighs 40+lbs) or help him move a frig, etc.

Thx for the warning. I haven't done this one yet, but it's good to be forewarned.

How often or how long do you exercise a day?

I usually workout in the morning M-F with one of Cathe's DVD's or another cardio, weight or circuit DVD. Then hubby & I walk 3-4 miles in the evening M-Th and then a longer walk on Saturday. Right now we are training for 1/2 marathon in November so we alternate btw long & shorter walks on...

Which workouts have you done so far?

I did After Burn this morning. It was great. I was totally dripping with sweat & trembling by the end of it. I also had a little trouble with the jumping jacks; I felt awkward but I think it will take a few times for me to get used to the disks on this exercise & couple of the other ones.

    Afterburn: Two Thumbs Up!

Boy you weren't kidding about the sweat factory. I had sweat dripping everywhere & by the end I was shaking & really having to push to the end, but I loved it. I can't wait to try the other workouts in this series.

Long Vent Alert: Setting the record straight

"Christian" - " person professing belief in Jesus as the Christ, or in the religion based on the teachings of Jesus". Taken from an old Webster's dictionary, but I agree some people claim to be Christian but their acts do not reflect the teachings of Christ.
