Spot opened up! Now I'm nervous

VERY clique-ish. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed. Felt too much like high school and I hated high school: at 32, I'm too old for such foolishness. But, beat up?? Are you serious?

Spot opened up! Now I'm nervous

I went by myself in 2011 and had fun. Unfortunately, I stopped going because I did not feel welcome among many of the Cathletes, who tend to stick together, thus making me feel like I was being "ignored." Not to sound negative, but that is what my experience was. I don't think it was...

Peak Fit Challenge/Michelle Dozois - For Advanced Exercisers?

My biggest issue with these workouts is momentum: you can't possibly build muscle when you're flinging the weights around at the speed she is. While I like them and they're very FIRM-esque (the old FIRM's anyway), I will never do them as part of the intended program.

Nutrisystem, Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers?

Well, Nutrisystem must have changed over the years because I've been on it for 5 weeks and love all the food and the scale is finally moving in the right direction. Plus it teaches you to eat 5-6 smaller meals per day, which is exactly what all the trainers and fitness professionals tell you to...

    Tosca Reno Bankrupt RKP

Agreed. The problem with this country is no one takes personal responsibility anymore. Also, if you eat fast food in moderation, it's not "unhealthy." Some people truly do just eat at, say, McDonalds once in a while. We should not demonize a company simply because those with no self-control...

Peak Fit Challenge/Michelle Dozois - For Advanced Exercisers?

I never said there wasn't any weight-lifting value. There is weight-lifting value in the sense she uses the weights to make the cardio/moves more intense. However, due to the sheer speed you are lifting (she even says at one point that you don't have to use full range of motion for bicep curls...

Peak Fit Challenge/Michelle Dozois - For Advanced Exercisers?

I have this system and just did Cardio Strength 2 for the first time. I too agree these are advanced but there is hardly any emphasis on strength-building: the weights are there simply to induce/enhance the cardio effect because she goes way too fast for you to lift heavy with proper form...

    Pedal Power Suggestion

I second the suggestion for a beats per minute counter for purposes of gauging my intensity. Is that possible?

    1

I lost over 100 lbs twice in my life and each time it was slow (3+ years), and it made no difference as to skin elasticity. I will always have loose skin in my upper arms and upper thighs that can only be removed by surgery: even had a tummy tuck and breast lift 13 years ago when I first lost...

    Yet Another Insanity Thread

I completed Insanity last year and haven't done one of the workouts since. They are very repetitive and boring, the music is awful, and my results were just so-so. I really need to sell the set because I can't see myself ever subjecting myself to this type of torture again.

    STS vs Chalean Extreme

I know what I've experienced, and I'm telling you that without changing my eating between the two programs, I lost weight/inches with ChaLEAN Extreme but gained each time I tried STS. I was consuming at most 1500 calories per day when doing STS (same with ChaLEAN, which is a heavy lifting...

    STS vs Chalean Extreme

I lost weight and gained definition from ChaLEAN Extreme. I quit STS after 6 weeks twice because I kept gaining inches! So I think CL is the better program: at least, for me. Also like how it requires much less equipment.

Help, discouraged...getting bigger but feel I'm doing things right

Those who have gained with STS: have you experienced the same with Xtrain? I want to do a 90 day rotation or Xtrain but cannot gain bulk: I have too much body fat to lose. I'm in my 7th week of Turbo Fire and am just starting to lose a little.

Help, discouraged...getting bigger but feel I'm doing things right

This is exactly what happened to me when I did STS: after 6 weeks of STS, I quit because I was gaining inches. NOT good! Wish I knew the answer but it only seems to happen when I use Cathe's heavy lifting workouts: when I did ChaLEAN Extreme, I lost inches...weird.

    I'm getting braces!!!

I am 32 and got my braces 4 months ago. While my teeth are straight, I need braces to get my teeth in the exact correct alignment for orthognathic surgery to correct my upper jaw (I have an underbite). I will be in braces at least another 20 months or so but I will be having the jaw surgery...

    Facebook Friends

I'm also going to say something that's unpopular. I defriended several Cathletes on FB because all they talk about is fitness. I want my friends to be interesting, multidimensional people, and I've come to find many of the Cathletes I was friends with would only talk about Cathe and working...

    Insanity program

I did this last April and got decent but not excellent results, and I didn't cheat or modify the moves at all. I haven't touched the workouts since. In fact, I think I want to sell them because the dread factor is just way too high for me to ever want to do them again. I also have Insanity...

Is there a way to substitute Super Cuts into 30 Day rotation?

When I'm able to work out again (I've been very sick), I will try to do more Super Cuts than Hard Strikes: I'm one of the few who is not in love with Hard Strikes, but then I'm not a huge boxing or kickboxing fan so that is to be expected.
