I Got Stood Up For My Interview!

I was hoping to come back here and report good news about my interview this morning except the unbelievable happened. Despite having a confirmed phone interview slot with a Mr. Lopez at 10:22 AM this morning, I was stood up by the interviewer. He never called me. I had everything prepared - proof of internet speed test, copy of job description, questions to ask, answers to questions that I might be asked and a copy of my resume. The only contact person I had was the lady who sent me the interview invite paperwork and I did let her know that I never got the interview call but I'm not sure if I'll even get a response.

I knew what I was getting into by reapplying with them. It was a toxic work environment, poor management and sweatshop like working conditions where you weren't even supposed to use the restroom until your scheduled break or lunchtime. I had the mindset that this was paid training and a steppingstone to something better in the insurance industry. So now, I'm back to square one and regrouping and figuring out what to do next. I've got other job applications out there but the competition is unreal. I've all but given up on applying for anything in healthcare with my CNA license because I don't think I could handle the stress of a nursing home right now and I'm unsure about home health as well because of the low pay and the fact that nobody wants to hire someone and train them. And the hospital jobs require experience and the competition is unreal. Yesterday I got an email from Linkedin with a job at Methodist hospital and 25 people had clicked apply just through Linkedin and another nursing assistant at a rehab hospital where I really wanted to work and there were 49 people who had applied through Linkedin.

Y’all won’t believe this! So I’d just gotten back from walking Luca and here’s an email from the recruiter who stood me up saying they were doing group interviews and I’d already missed one time slot. I raced into the office and waited on the Microsoft teams meeting but nobody let me in the meeting. I emailed the recruiter with my internet speed test results and told him I wanted to interview but couldn’t get into the meeting. After getting back from Walgreens getting my husbands cough meds, I got into the meeting and interviewed with another applicant. So I got a job offer but it’s contingent upon my eligibility for rehire with my former company which I’m unsure about because my last week of work I had a tech issue with my company issued computer and had to go over a few heads to get my final paycheck. Provided all goes through I’d be starting paid training on 3/31.

That's great forward progress!!
It’s the one and only glimmer of hope I’ve had. I couldn’t believe the competition for CNA healthcare jobs. I mean how do you narrow down a pool of at least 49 applicants for one opening?

When I was having trouble getting into the meeting my husband was like oh just let it go and forget about it and I said no this is opportunity that I can’t pass up and I’m going to at least try to get into this interview despite being stood up this morning.

don’t assume everyone applying for a job is sincerely wanting the job, or has the qualifications for the job. There are many reasons people apply for jobs. some of those reasons are kind of bizarre.
If you want into the field, send in your application and just focus on what you can offer the company. That is what you control.

Thank you! I’ve actually applied at Methodist and the computer system automatically eliminates you if you don’t have the required 6 months of patient care experience and I’ve applied to the other rehab hospital twice getting two rejection emails that they’re going with someone with more experience. It’s all computer applications these days, no more walking in and filling out something in person.
