HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LORA!!!
Debbie - I did active recovery weeks b/w each mesocycle. If I felt I needed a total day off, this is when I took one during the week too. I didn't even notice that she said just recovery and not active recovery this time so I did the same for both in between weeks, which was good cardio work and fun stuff I wanted to try, or missed, b/c I was doing STS.
Theresa - I think I sent you my macros, and consult your BFFM too. He lists some very good macro ideas for different scenarios. I think fats at about 25-30% is good (and I am talking healthy fats from nuts, nut butters, olive oil, avocados, etc plus whatever is naturally occurring in the protein/dairy/carbs you ingest) - I like to be no higher than 30% which is easy, protein at about 35-40%, and carbs at about 35-40%. This is on a daily, in general basis. I like to see protein and carbs about even. If I am wanting to really lean out more, I lower the carbs some and up the protein but I can't function for long this way! And my carbs are largely from fruits and veggies - the rest are whole grains/brown rice or sweet potatoes.
Diane Sue - I guess you were referring to the new Eat Clean cookbook by Tosca Reno yesterday? I just ordered that myself and am waiting for it to get here. Amazon seems to be pokey lately.
Yesterday, I took a complete and total rest day. I cleaned the entire house though. My allergies are so bad. Miserable, really. And our temps are so hot again. Ugh. Monday, though, I swam 450 yards, biked 6 and ran 2. The duathlon is Sunday (and thankfully, it will be at least a bit cooler that day) so I am preparing for that and this is also active recovery week for me. Today, I will swim, and I feel like I need to do yoga b/c my muscles just feel tired and tense. I will probably take an easy spin on my bike too. We'll see.
Happy Wednesday
