Your rehab leg exercises

Hi Cathe,

I hurt my foot on Jan. 21. I got off the treadmill and heard a crack with pain and it hasn't been the same every since. I've been able to do the treadmill incline walking and the elliptical. The foot doctor said that low-imact or no impact would be OK. She also said, "No lunges and squats." I just had an ultrasound on my foot and am waiting for the results on that. The dr. doing the scan said that he saw "something" in there, but deep down (on the top of my foot where it flexes). He wouldn't tell me what he thinks it is. :-(

I saw your reply in another thread about exercises you have been doing for your legs to avoid atrophy. Could you share them?

I have been using GSL & PLB floor work a lot. I have no problems doing those.

TIA!

Dallas

Hi Again,

I tried to edit some of my typos. Oops. However, editing limits has expired. Also, tried to add that the doctor just called and said the problem in my foot is impingement syndrome. I have to go for physical therapy and she prescribed an anti-inflammatory. I have never heard of that before.

No running, high impact, etc for at least a month she said. I feel your frustration Cathe.;( ;( :-( :-( It's a good thing I can still do core and upper body!!

I'd still be interested in your rehab exercises if you don't mind.

Thanks, Dallas

I hope your foot feels better soon. If you are still doing leg workouts and having no problems with them then you don't have to worry about leg atrophy because the muscles are still being quite challenged. Atrophy occurs from lack of use.

Since I am not supposed to be doing any heavy leg workouts for now, I am doing simple inner and outer thigh raises with the band plus legs raises for hams and quads, and some calf raises to keep the calf toned up. Just the basics to keep the overall legs toned, nothing fancy and nothing aggressive.

Oh yes, GSL & PLB floor is TOUGH especially doing them back-to-back!!! I just really miss my lunges and squats. I know that sounds absurd. ha ha!

Have you heard of impingement syndrome? I don't know if you saw my second post.

Thanks, Cathe
