Could everyone please post your favorite?! I am bored with the same old thing and i need to mix it up. I need some ideas:D

I usually just throw together:
Whatever frozen fruit I happen to have, usually Raspberries, blueberries and grapes, a banana(great way to get rid of brown bananas), protein powder, flaxseed, skim milk and a bit of cranberry juice. YUMMMMM!:)

Jes, what's your recipe? Oh, and your new "do" looks great!

I'd also love to hear what others do

Has anyone heard or seen frozen pineapple?? A coworker was telling me the other day he threw frozen pineapple in his smoothie- and I swear I've never seen that!

I buy bananas on what I call the 'scratch and dent' shelf in my produce department. These are the bananas that are a little too ripe to sell (and they are way cheaper too LOL). I take them home, peel them, then put them in a bag in the freezer. I like frozen banana in chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry protein drinks. Ground flaxseed usually goes in all my shakes too.

This is kind of 'unclean' but for a change I've also put diet orange soda with vanilla protein powder and it makes something that resembles a creamsicle.

A while ago I found a website with a bunch of protein shake recipes. Some of them are kind of strange (check out 'the Hulk') but others I've tried are pretty good.

I make baked apple smoothies, sweet potato smoothies (this tastes like sweet pot. pie), pumpkin smoothies. I do freeze pineapple and make pineapple smoothies. I also use blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, and bananas. I like to use choc protein powder, PB and bananas. I have also made a choc-covered cherry smoothie which is good - choc protein powder, cherry coffee syrup, and choc soy milk.

Jane, can I have your recipe for baked apple, sweet potatoe and pumpkin smoothies? I'd love to hear how you make these. Sounds yummy! Thanks!

Sure Debbie..

All of these smoothies take one scoop of vanilla protein powder and a cup of skim milk or soy milk if you prefer.

For the baked apple - I bake my apples with splenda and cinnamon. I usually add just a shake more cinnamon to my smoothie. I freeze one cup of baked apples for this.

For the pumpkin - I freeze one cup of pumpkin puree, add cinnamon, nutmeg, and you'll have to add a little splenda or sweetner of your choice to this one, pumpkin isn't as sweet. Of course, sweetner to your taste.

For the sweet potato - bake or zap a sweet potato in the microwave. I use one that will give me one cup of sweet potato, freeze. This one is good without cinnamon or with. I think without the cinnamon it tastes like a piece of sweet potato pie. This one has a creamy consistency.

Enjoy!!

My morning usual:
about 8 oz. pomegranate juice (optional: soak 1 Tbsp dried goji berries in juice about 15 minutes before adding rest of ingredients). 1 scoop Vegan Complete meal replacement/protein powder. Contents of two Vegan Joint supplement capsules. 1 Tbsp. flax powder. 1 Tbsp maca root powder. 1/2 cup (more or less) of aloe vera juice. Fill container the rest of the way with mixture of frozen strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, sweet black cherries (the mix changes from day to day), and if using a lot of rasperries, a dash of stevia powder.

these all sound yummy!!!

TK thanks for the link!

Wendy: thanks:) i typically just do powder, soymilk and frozen berries.

i have chocolate soy milk this week, so i may try the pb addition:9

I apologize in advance for this really "dumb" question, but honestly, I don't cook (I'm much better at eating ;)). When you bake the the apple about how long do you need to leave it in the oven for? Would you put it on 350 degrees? (I knew that huge silver thing with knobs in the kitchen under the microwave would be good for something some day.)

LOL Robin... :) I usually bake mine about 375 for about 20 or 30 minutes. You can tell I'm not exact on this either. Just watch the apples, you can tell when they become tender. If in doubt, just stick a fork in them.

I just had one with banana, frozen berries, skim milk and vanilla protein powder. Pretty tastey!

I've also done banana, p/b, skim milk and chocolate protein powder. :9

I've also used f/f vanilla soy milk in lieu of skim milk as well.

I've yet to make one that I didn't like! I don't get very creative though, I must admit...

Kathryn, I read how wonderful pomegranate juice is for your health (this is just one article):

I was wondering is there any brand you would recommend and if I could buy it online? I would love to find something that good to mix in with my Vegan Complete.

One slice lite tofu, 1/2 cup each frozen raspberries and blackberries, 1/4 cup oatmeal, 1 packet splenda, 1 teaspoon almond butter. Add water to get desired consistency. Delicious!

I used to use "Pom" brand (available in many grocery stores). Then I discovered an organic "super antioxidant" juice blend with mostly pomegranate from "Lakewood" that my grocery store started carrying. They actually added an organic food section near produce, and had this and some other new juices. When I came back to get a "refill" a couple of weeks later, they no longer had the pomegranate or even a place for it on the shelves! (stuff I like seems to "disappear" from stores!) But I talked to the assistant manager, and they got it back in. (If your grocery store won't do that, you could probably order it through them by the case at a discount, if their supplier carries it---and if you want that much!).

The Lakewood mix has pomegrante, cherry, blueberry, apple, grape, acerola cherry, and green tea extract. And it costs less than the POM brand ($3.89 for 32 ounces vs. $5.95 for 24 ounces). But because it isn't all pomegranate, I use more than I do of the plain pomegranate juice.

ETA: the Lakewood website is " www.lakewoodjuices.com " . They might list their suppliers.
