Your world can turn on a dime....hug your loved ones!

Hug your loved ones tonight. Tell them ALL how much they mean to you.

I got a dose of reality this past weekend.

I got news Friday night that a friend of mine, who is a teacher at our school, took her 6th grader to the Pediatrician. He hadn't had a bowel movement in a week, which isn't unusual for HIM. At the age of 2, he almost died when his kidneys failed. His mom was a perfect match so he now has one of hers. They've been fighting certain illnesses all these years. Then Friday....BAM! Ped took a blood test, and this child has been diagnosed with leukemia. 11 YEARS OLD! For Pete's Sake! What is going on in this world?

Just goes to show. One day your biggest concern is how to get your child to eat his veggies or how to keep your children from bickering. Then the next day.....your biggest concern is what Doc to choose to keep your child ALIVE!

I came home late that night after a night out with my lady friends. I crawled into bed with my 7 year old and cried.

Hug your family. They're precious!

That is so sad Gayle! Thanks for the much needed reminder of how precious every day is with our loved ones! I will keep your friend in my prayers.

Oh thats so sad :(
Hugs for them. I do think of these things and it scares me. I'm thankful for my family and our health. I do have a cousin who had leukemia at a young age and did recover from it. Shes now married with children. I hope he will be ok.

Oh Gayle that is so so sad. One of my biggest fears is just that (see my profile).

Have you had a drive in your local area for bone marrow donors at all? We had one here for a pastor many years ago and I am still on the list for that. The pastor is actually doing well and I'm thinking it has been at least 10 years.

Hope all goes well for you and your friend.

Prayers for your friend and her son and for the strength to get thru this. I just wanted to say that a friend of ours son was also diagnosed with leukemia 10 years ago when he was three. He survived and is doing very well. There is hope that he can get thru this.

{{{HUGS}}}for your friend and her family. such a hard thing to watch the child go through a tough illness. i was getting grumpy b/c dh took the day off today and i wanted to do laundry. laundry could be done tomorrow maybe he just wanted to relax with me today.

Gayle I am so sorry for this news. I hope this kid gets into remission fast and permanently.

And you are so right to remind us all of our blessings!

Gayle, you're so right, and I'm grateful for the reminder to appreciate my loved ones. I'm praying for your friend and her DS.
