Thank you all so much again for your responses to my sheepish little nicotine-infused confessional yesterday! I've printed all of your responses and added them to my file "The Road To Quitsville", and I have no doubt your encouragement will buoy me up when resolve flickers a little.

I tend not to "do" Thanksgiving very much, but I do count my blessings this time of year even more than normal. I visit this site every day and then some, and I'm grateful for it, and I'm grateful for all of you!

Let's keep keepin' the faith . . .

This site tops my list of things I am grateful for! I have a beloved sister, a close friend and a neice who are very dear to me and live in Tucson. We are so far apart though that we rarely see each other. We talk on the phone but even that can get not done because we are busy, busy, busy! The person I talk to the most is six years-old and while I adore Sam, we don't share the same interests! But everyday I talk to you goddesses and nuts, learn something new and valuable and laugh alot.

:D I am glad you brought up the subject of smoking A-Jock! I really thought if I were to bring it up I would get slammed, plus I was embarassed! When a well respected individual as yourself brings it up, it is time for me to confess. How long have you been smoking? Have you set a target date or have you already started? When it comes time for me to quit, I will feel comfortable posting as everyone seems understanding. This time in my life is not suggestable as I would surely relapse! Again, let me know if you ever need encouragement! Good Luck!

A-Jock, the real blessing is what you're doing for your life expectancy and your health!! I'm an RN and I work in CCU. A large majority of our patients - especially this time of year - are in with Congestive Heart Failure and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease exacerbation symptoms. Almost all of them are or have been big time smokers. Nearly all our patients with heart disease once were or still are smokers. We're seeing them younger and younger. We just had a 34 year old man who had two stents placed in coronary arteries. Heart disease at 34! Yep - you guessed it - he smokes. Cigarettes will rob you of all the good you do for your body with your workouts. I've watched enough people slowly die from the effects of nicotine on their bodies. I've been a critical care nurse for 17 and a half years. It ain't a pretty death. I'm SO proud of you for doing this! You're given yourself one of the greatest blessings of all - your health. You CAN do this!! Anytime you need encouragement, we're all here!! We'll be your cheerleaders!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving...even if you don't "do" this holiday, you have the right idea in counting your blessings.
And a special congratulations on quiting smoking and "Best Wishes"!!! I am a former smoker myself (five years I think) and it still amazes me how much better I feel without the cigs!!!
So keep up the faith, A-jock!!! You see you have plenty of "cheerleaders" here to keep you going when it gets tough...and it will, but there's no doubt here you will do well!!!
