Yoga Journal's Yoga for Flexibility

Does anyone have this video and, if so, have you done the whole thing all at once? It has two sections, back bends and forward bends. I'm wondering if it's ok to do them both one right after the other, or is that not safe? I don't have a lot of yoga experience (have done YJ's Yoga for Beginners and one of Baron Baptiste's a few times each); I really just got this to do on off days to try to improve my flexibility and get some good stretching in.

TIA for any thoughts!:)

I've never done the whole thing... the backbends usually wipe me out and I'm ready to stop after the first section. I'm not a yoga master, but I think if you had the time and energy, you could do the whole tape -- tell me if I'm wrong... :)
I figure in a live yoga class you're doing both forward and backward bends in a single class.
Good Luck! ;-)

That makes sense. I guess I'll just go by how strong I'm feeling/how much time I have.

Thanks!:)

Hi! I have this tape and do it weekly. I break up the sections, though. I am an ectomorph and that body type is not the most flexible. One section at a time is enough for me. I have noticed a big improvement in flexibility and in posture since I started this tape about 6 months ago.

Hi Marie,

I have that DVD for the boxed set. I was able to do the whole thing at once the first time I did it. And I'm a beginner! As long as you follow what the instructors say, it's pretty safe. Only go as far as your body can. Do you have Yoga Journal's yoga for relaxation? That's my best beginner YG pick. I end my Cathe workouts with either of the two sections of that DVD. Happy stretching!:)

Hi Marie, I have that entire Yoga Journal series, and I have done the Flexibility tape in it's entirety. It's a great tape!!

I'm also not a yoga master but since Patricia Walden did not contraindicate doing both sections back to back, I can't see any reason not to, unless of course it doesn't feel right to you.

I adore this tape! I've been doing it (forward bending section only) as an add-on to my Cathe workouts for about a month and have seen enormous improvement in my flexibility, much more so than with power yoga tapes. (Although I still love power yoga and do it a couple times a week.)

I don't know if you have a DVD player, but this tape is available as a bonus on "Yoga Journal's Yoga for Beginners" DVD. So much better than having to fast forward and rewind all the time!
