Good morning ladies! No workout for me yet - just sipping my coffee and reading the newspaper.

My weather forecast is calling for rain and snow late tonight and early tomorrow, with temps right around freezing. I have to run 12 miles tomorrow morning! I don't wanna do that in the rain and snow!

BBIAB

MOrning, katie! what a nice start to yourday!
i wouldnt run 1 mile in the snow, nevermind 12!!!

-
I was DANGEROUSLY close to skipping my WO lat ngiht. Even got out of my WO clothes, put on my pjs. But I changed my mind and got my WO clothes back on and rocked Plyo Crdio circuit. Sweat was rolling off me and in the punching at the end it was flyin' everywhere!

bbl.....wiggly baby

Morning ladies

I went to sleep and slept so well last night...ear plugs and all.

Katie please don't send that cold weather down here. I was suppose to take the kids to the RM Fair but it's too cold. Instead we are headed to the mall for winter coats.

Kate good going with the change of mind workout.

I need to do some cardio today, maybe kickboxing.

Good Morning Everyone!

I am starting to feel better but not 100% yet. I will try yesterday's workout - Disc 30 or 31 Chest and Back today. I don't think I have the energy to double up so I will do today's workout tomorrow. No big plans for the weekend. It is rainy and cold here so I will probably stay in and read a book. SIL's birthday is Monday so I may need to run out and get something today since Chris is working. Eats have been a little carb heavy but I will try to get more protein and veggies today. Most of my veggies yesterday were starchy veggies.

Katie, this is terrible weather to run in. I can't wait for this rain to clear out.
Wendy, glad you got your workout in and a little extra at the end.
Kate, good job getting your workout in last night. I want to see a nutritionist too but it is so expensive. Maybe if I find a new job but I have a whole list of things I want.
Klaudia, ^5 on getting your workout done. Did you ever find shoes for the wedding?
Lisa, I had to stop buying ice cream because I was eating it after dinner. Now I let Chris pick the flavors and he usually gets flavors I don't like.
Robin, I need a new winter coat too but I am not up to shopping for one.
Anne, glad your beers and books went better. When will you have your connection at home?
Angie, good idea going to bed to avoid eating. I usually brush my teeth to stop eating.

Morning Colleen I hear ya about staying in. Why is it so cold already.
And snowing too

Who is going to order the cathe calendar? I have to order cathe and sparkpeople calendar.

Hey girls!

I slept really well last night and even slept in. Ryan and I did our last max interval plyo and it was rough. I rocked the power jumps. I did a "drop" set and made myself do 20/12/8 - it was great!

We went to the grocery store and hardware store and now I'm going to run and go tanning.

Ryan and I are having a "stay in" date night tonight. We've decided once a month to cook something fun together, (not clean and tidy) and a dessert and wine. Basically, there is no fun in going out because the food isn't very good so we decided to make our own food and enjoy that and it's MUCH cheaper. Tonight we're having a lamb/curry meal. It sounds so yummy.

Kate, do you have any good biscuit recipes? We found one in joy of cooking but are open to suggestions. WTG on doing your WO last night! I'm so proud of you! That's motivation!

Katie, did you do your run? I'd be curling up next to the fireplace for sure. What did you and Chris do last night?

Robin, glad you got good sleep last night too. Good luck coat shopping. I want the Cathe calendar but I've never had one.

Colleen, I think your plan to stay in and read sounds like a good one. I hope you feel better.

Off to go tanning. Have a good day!

I feel like I've gotten a full day in already!
Made big breakfast for the fam but I dutifully ate my oats & berries. Also made a cake (http://www.playinghouseblog.com/2009/07/rainbow-cake.html) for my niece's 1st bday tomorrow. I'm going to frost it better than they did tho!;):D Will post pics after it's frosted, maybe tonight or tmrw.
Got the girls off to swim WITH MIKE. He didn't want to go and it's technically my turn but I have too much to do to go sit at the pool for 2 hrs.

Robin, KB sounds good!

Colleen, Hope you find somehting good for SIL. I find it so hard to shop for others.
That's an ambitious WO! Careful if you're not up to par!

Angie, I do have some (lots!) of biscuit recipes - let me dig some up for you.
WTG ON POEWR JUMPS! Don't you feel so accomplished at the end of EVERY SINGLE WO!?!?! I love how Ins makes me feel. I do love Cathe, but Insanity is just WOW.
NICE IDEA on the date night. That is very nice!

off to look for recipes....

you'd never guess they're LF!

Reduced-Fat Buttermilk Biscuits
Makes 12

Underbaked, these biscuits are gummy. Check under a biscuit after 17 minutes. If the underside is still pale, bake up to 3 minutes more until golden brown on top and bottom.

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons unsalted butter , cut into 1/2-inch pieces and frozen for 1 hour
3 tablespoons Neufchatel (1/3 less fat) cream cheese , cut into 1/2-inch pieces and frozen for 1 hour
1 1/4 cups nonfat buttermilk
1. MIX DOUGH Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 450 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Pulse flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, butter, and cream cheese in food processor until mixture resembles coarse meal; transfer to large bowl. Stir in buttermilk until combined.

2. CUT BISCUITS On a lightly floured surface, knead dough until smooth, 8 to 10 times. Pat dough into 9-inch circle, about ¾ inch thick. Using 2½-inch biscuit cutter dipped in flour, cut out rounds of dough and arrange on prepared baking sheet. Pat remaining dough into ¾-inch-thick circle and cut out remaining biscuits.

3. BAKE BISCUITS Bake until biscuits begin to rise, about 5 minutes, then rotate pan and reduce oven temperature to 400 degrees. Bake until golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes more, then transfer to wire rack. Serve warm.

I don't make these "bonnet-style" - I jsut shape them normaly

Quaker Bonnet Biscuits
Makes 18

To make these biscuits without a food processor, freeze the sticks of butter until hard and then grate them into the dry ingredients using the large holes of a box grater. Toss gently with your hands to evenly distribute the butter, and proceed with the recipe.

1 cup whole milk
1 large egg
1 package rapid-rise yeast or instant yeast
4 cups all-purpose flour , plus extra for work surface
2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons table salt
8 tablespoons unsalted butter (1-stick), cut into 1/2-inch pieces and chilled, plus 1 additional tablespoon, melted (for assembling biscuits)
1. Adjust oven racks to upper-middle and lower-middle positions and heat oven to 200 degrees. Once oven reaches 200 degrees, maintain temperature for 10 minutes, then turn off oven.

2. Stir milk, egg, and yeast together in large measuring cup until combined.

3. Process flour, sugar, and salt in food processor until combined. Add chilled butter and pulse until mixture looks like coarse cornmeal, about fifteen 1-second pulses. Transfer to large bowl.

4. Stir in milk mixture until dough comes together. Turn dough out onto lightly floured work surface. Briefly knead to bring dough together, about 1 minute, adding more flour if necessary. Following steps 1 through 4 in the photos, roll, cut, and assemble biscuits on parchment-lined baking sheets. Cover with kitchen towels and place in warm oven. Let rise until doubled in size, 25 to 35 minutes.

5. Remove baking sheets with biscuits from oven and heat oven to 375 degrees; return baking sheets to oven once it is fully preheated. Bake biscuits until golden brown, about 15 minutes, rotating and switching baking sheets halfway through baking time. Serve hot or warm.

never made these, but they look good!

High-Rise Herb Biscuits
Makes 10 large biscuits

Use fresh, bright green dill for the best herb flavor.

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
6 tablespoons unsalted butter , 3 tablespoons chilled and cut into 1/2 inch pieces, 3 tablespoons melted
1/2 cup shredded dill Havarti cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
3/4 cup whole milk cottage cheese
1/2 cup whole milk
1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill leaves
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1. Adjust oven rack to upper-middle position and heat oven to 450 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Pulse flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cayenne, chilled butter, Havarti, and Parmesan in food processor until mixture resembles wet sand, about ten 1-second pulses. Transfer to large bowl. Process cottage cheese, milk, dill, and lemon juice in food processor until smooth. Stir cottage cheese mixture into flour mixture until combined.

3. On lightly floured countertop, knead dough until smooth, 8 to 10 kneads. Pat dough into 7-inch circle about 1 inch thick. Using 2-inch biscuit cutter dipped in flour, cut out rounds of dough and invert onto prepared baking sheet according to photos at right. Gather remaining dough and pat into 1-inch-thick circle and cut out remaining biscuits.

4. Bake until golden brown, 13 to 15 minutes. Remove from oven and brush tops with melted butter. Cool 5 minutes. Serve warm or hot. The biscuits will keep at room temperature for up to 1 day. (Reheat individual biscuits by microwaving them on highest power for 10 seconds.)

these are melt-in-your-mouth oh-so-good!!!!!!!

Angel Biscuits
Makes 16

You will need a 2 1/2 inch round biscuit cutter for this recipe

1 cup buttermilk , heated to 110 degrees
1 envelope (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant or rapid-rise yeast
2 1/2 cups bleached all-purpose flour , plus extra for work surface
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
8 tablespoons vegetable shortening , cut into 1/2-inch pieces and chilled
2 tablespoons unsalted butter , melted
1. Adjust oven racks to upper-middle and lower-middle positions and heat oven to 200 degrees. Maintain temperature for 10 minutes, then turn off oven. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. Stir buttermilk and yeast together until dissolved. In bowl of standing mixer fitted with paddle attachment, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt on low speed until combined. Add shortening and mix until just incorporated, about 1 minute. Slowly mix in buttermilk mixture until dough comes together, about 30 seconds. Fit mixer with dough hook and mix on low speed until dough is shiny and smooth, about 2 minutes.

3. On lightly floured surface, knead dough briefly to form smooth ball. Roll dough into 10-inch circle, about 1/2 inch thick. Using 21/2-inch biscuit cutter dipped in flour, cut out rounds and transfer to prepared baking sheets. Gather remaining dough and pat into 1/2-inch-thick circle. Cut remaining biscuits and transfer to baking sheets. Shape according to photos at right. Cover dough with kitchen towels and place in warm oven. Let rise until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.

4. Remove baking sheets from oven and heat oven to 350 degrees. Once oven is fully heated, remove kitchen towels and bake until biscuits are golden brown, 12 to 14 minutes, switching and rotating sheets halfway through baking. Remove from oven and brush tops with melted butter. Serve.

Food Processor Method: In step 2, process flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt until thoroughly mixed. Add shortening and pulse until only pea-sized pieces of shortening remain, about 6 one-second pulses. Add buttermilk mixture in steady stream and pulse until dough comes together, about 6 more pulses. (Dough will be very sticky.) Turn dough out onto floured work surface and knead until shiny and smooth, about 5 minutes, adding more flour as necessary. Continue recipe with rolling out dough as directed in step 3.

Happy Weekend!

Slept in til 8 this morning and that with my friend and her 6 month old who surprised me with a visit yesterday staying over! Busy day of dance and shopping today-lucky for me Darrin was home this morning to help and our neighbor is driving Milla this afternoon so I don't have to do it all. No workout planned-too much to fit in. Tomorrow will be either Push Pull or Muscle Max-gotta make the muscles pop for that sleeveless dress;)

Katie, hope the weather holds out for your run!

Kate, great job on getting that workout in after you already had your jammies on! I feel like a sloth after reading your post!

Robin, yay to uniterrupted sleep! May I suggest the KM KB/BC premix? I did it yesterday and it was tough!

Angie, great idea for date night! Darrin and I really need to work on that.

Colleen, I'm so glad we don't exchange gifts with siblings! I have a hard enough time shopping for myself! Going to DSW this afternoon!

Hi to Anne, Wendy, Lisa, and Nina:)

BBL...

Quick drive by--hi everybody! I promise to do personals later. I'm being lazy today, but going to a movie in a few minutes. Have a good Saturday!

anne

quick post here as 1. i am finishing cleaning this entire huge house 2. i am grumpy. i told myself i wouldn't even post today b/c i was so sad and down (said that at 2am), but i am better than i was at that point, so here i am. so, first, for accountability, i splurged on some choc covered almonds and dried fruit last night. i almost had ice cream too, but that was enough damage. then dh and i fought, about my long run i planned to do sunday, so i went to bed, and slept horribly. i think that made me more sad. anyways, quiet am. i did run once everyone was up, and it was lovely and a crisp 60 degrees. played at the park with the boys, picnic lunch, and as i said i am finsihing my cleaning now. i am frustrated at the 3 boys in this house who do not help, but i suppose i should not complain. eats are spot on today, and they will stay that way, if only b/c my tummy feels funny. off to visit my mom in an hour - wish me luck.

katie, can you run some of that on your tm? i used to do that in maine if it was too cold. good luck.

kate, you are my inspiration.

angie, what a nice date idea. what do you do with the gilrs, though?

colleen, take it easy and feel better.

klaudia, hope the company was fun, and you will rock that dress. send me pics!

hi wendy, hi lisa

robin, sorry for the cold. come down here. it is perfect weather right now.

back at it, back in a while

Nina sorry about your night last night. And IMO I think that the boys should help you out with the house work, even if they make more of a mess. With all of the stress that you are under, no wonder you need a long run.

Hi anne

Kate love Biscuits but they don't love me.

Angie enjoy your stay in date night...good idea

just finish making soup and I've been cooking a pork tenderloin for tomorrow's dinner.

I survived Disc 31 Chest and Back!!!! Yeah!!!! I felt a little weak a couple of times but I made it through - every exercise and every rep (although I went a pound or two lighter on a couple of exercises). No point on killing myself. I finally feel much better and I was actually hungry for lunch so I splurged on a juicy hamburger. I know I didn't need it but I was craving it and after not really eating the past couple of days, one little hamburger is not going to kill me.

Angie, almost done! Yeah!!! Great job on Max Plyo. Enjoy your date night.
Kate, thanks for the biscuit recipes. I don't make them - too much temptation.
Robin, we are having pork tenderloin tonight for dinner.
Nina, sorry about the rough night last night. I am so jealous of your run at 60 degrees.
Klaudia, isn't it great to sleep in? Good luck shoe shopping.
Anne, don't you love lazy Saturdays? What movie are you seeing?

Hi ladies! Not having the greatest day here either. My sinuses are acting up and hoping my allergies don't kick in. I'm trying my hardest to stay positive and not complain or grumble about things that are getting to me. Nina, you are not alone. Anyway, I have Plyo Cardio Circuit on tap for today. Will do it this afternoon. I wanted to do it this morning, but no one to watch the baby to take a shower after my wo so I'm holding off.

Angie - I love sleeping in! Glad you got your rest. Congrats on finishing Insanity!
Kate - What kind of food coloring do you use? The gel ones? I've never seen those in a regular grocery store before. What a nice auntie! Seems like a lot of hardwork. I'm going to bake some of those oat muffins from Melanie's recipe. You made me crave them from the time you were talking about them earlier this week, lol.
Katie - Running in the snow! You are tough!
Robin - Good job on being on top of dinner for tomorrow too!
Nina - Sorry for all the troubles. Try to stay focused on the positive. I know that helps me. Hope your visit with your mom didn't bring any more stress.
Colleen - You're a wo machine! Enjoy your weekend.
Anne - Have fun at the movies. What are you watching?

I have a hour before I have to take my odd to ballet. My sister and her family are coming over tonight. Gotta figure out what to make for dinner. It's been an exhausting month for me. I can't wait for things to slow down and football to be over. Thankfully no game today. Enjoy your weekend ladies!

hey everyone - saorry for the complaining fest earlier - i need to buck up and get a new persprective!

visit with my mom went well, thankfully. what's even better, the boys had a great time. clean dinner for me (sal\ad and a small whole grain pita and an apple), so that makes a squeaky day - not even a choclate today! not sure what tomorrow will bring, but i am not going to sweat it.

lisa, enjoy your wo. i love plyo circut.

colleen, great job with the wo! funny, but 60 used to feel so hot to me to run in. now it is cool! how quickly we adapt.

robin, yummy eats for you this weekend. i have not cooked a thing, mostly b/c we need groceries, partly b/c i am unmotivated and have no time. my little boys are getting better at picking up after themselves and such. dh needs to do more but, ack, i cannot go there this weekend, kwim?

see you all in the am.. only positive posts from me! new goal;)

I promised personals, but now I'm tired. May I have a raincheck? I saw Whip It this afternoon and I liked it. It was a fun movie with a good message.

I bought the converter thing I needed to set up my work out area, but I tried to set it up and it doesn't work. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I even read the directions. I guess I'll have to call my brother and ask him to come over and take a look at it. I had planned to start working out again tomorrow, and I wanted to do a Cathe DVD, but it looks like no love for that. I think I can get the VCR to work, so I guess I could do something off VHS. We'll see how I feel in the AM.

Have a good night, everyone! I DVR'ed To Kill a Mockingbird, so I'm going to go watch that.
