Hi all,
Had to fill out some paperwork tonite, take a little nap and here I am finally. The walk after work never materialized. Think I was just not into it and DH didn't seem interested so no walk. I then curled up with an afghan on the couch and took a little catnap. Not sure I really need the nap. Think it's just getting to be a little habit at this point.
Ooh, Lea, the pancake recipe sounds like a good one before a long bike ride. Think I will have those on Sunday morning as we have a longish one planned in prep for the following Sunday's 60 miler. I still haven't picked up the almond butter but will get to the store this weekend. Thanks so much!
Debra, you're back! We sure wondered where you had gone! Can't wait to hear about your tattoo. I'm one of those who secretly would like one but DH would not be happy. Your trip sounds wonderful, walks on the beach, nice! I'll be in Phase 3 on Monday. Recovery week this week and Core Syn tomorrow.
Tracy, I'm really curious about the Evening Primrose Oil amount that you take. I take a 1000mg softgel once a day. It has helped with breast soreness. What other symptoms does it help with for you?
How does the flax oil help you? I'm 48 now and still pretty regular with my periods and no hot flashes yet. Like you, I don't do the froggie very well either. I'm always hoping I don't dislocate a hip or something, (really not that bad, it's just an awkward position). I do think I'm getting a bit looser though.
Sandra, yep, they jokingly refer to their bike training sessions as the Garage Boys Bike Workout. I know all of these guys from riding over the last 6 years, and most of them work at the prison where I work too. It's a small town. One of the guys is 50 and is really, really fast on a bike. He went to the Senior Games in Utah this year and was World Champion in cycling there. He's going to attend the World Police Games in Australia in March. That is too funny about the vegetable on the plate with pancakes. Think I could eat breakfast every meal of the day, I love oatmeal, cereals, pancakes so much. The sourdough was from a co-workers starter that she's had forever. They were so good (think I've said that before). I remember the Friendship Bread starter. People will run when they see you coming with it. The levels in Spinervals and Cardio Coach are % of Maximum Heart Rate. To really improve your cardio capacity, you have to push it at the higher levels for short to a bit longer periods of time and then recover for a bit at the lower levels, then back up again. That's what Cardio Coach & Spinervals are all about. Takes you out of your comfort zone for sure, but makes you fast, fast, fast. Sounds like your plan to get your DH in cycling shape is a very sound one. I'm going to take some time this weekend to review some of the Master Series workouts. I may be able to find something that my DH can do too. What kind of cycling does your DH do? Does he ride with a group or club? I'm thinking that lots of just riding will help for the endurance rides. It's amazing how fast a person can progress to long rides, of course after they get over the sore butt thing. I think a biggy for me has been to strengthen my core. If the core isn't strong, the power from your legs tends to leak out thru your middle, instead of getting to the pedals. A strong core and back help a lot with climbing hills. I usually try not to do a hard leg workout before a long bike ride as my legs will be too fatigued for the bike ride, which is no fun. I also think that if you can get yoga or stretching in there somewhere, it will help those tight hamstrings.
Traci, oooooh, new smaller sized jeans!! ^5's to you! And lunch with a friend. It was a good day indeed! I really need to sit down and write out a Post P90X rotation. I'm kind of thinking that my body is getting used to these workouts and I would really like to get out my Christi Taylor's, Cathe's step and some Turbo Jam. I'm also curious to see where I will be with the Pyramid Upper workout. I'll be previewing the Masters to see if I can incorporate them. So really, I haven't formed anything in my mind yet, except a break from P90X. However, I will not be doing mega cardio. I'm actually not a big cardio addict anyways but was probably doing it about 4 times a week plus my cycling.
Well must go now,
Monica, thinking and praying for you.
