Hi Girls.

Today's work out will be Jari's Ripped and Chiseled. I just got it in the mail y'day. I will be making it an upper body only work out though. My knee is feeling pretty darned good right now. I don't want to do ANYTHING to to mess that up before Sunday. :)

Good morning Wendy and all who follow!

Never got a chance to check in yesterday, so I'll report yesterday's workout as cardio...which was a treadmill run. Today's workout was Bryan Kest's Power Yoga. I really liked it. Needed something to help relieve some of the stress that IS my life, and that seemed to fit the bill today. I'm thinking I need to it more often.

Admittedly, the X just isn't really doin' it for me right now. :eek: Just not feelin' it, for some reason. I know I have to come up with some sort of rotation, but I don't want it to be strictly P90X because it's starting to cause me a bit of a dread factor. I'm thinking I'll keep a couple of the workouts in, like Core Syn, but come up with something that excites me a little more. I don't know... I do know that I'd like 2-3 full body workouts each week, and then three days of cardio. I guess that's a good place to start :) I'll figure something out.

Morning Ladies!

Well my knee is feeling a bit better today!! Funny .. VBF was complaining about her hip hurting from dancing .. we were moaning and groaning thru class.. I called it the geriatric class last night!! :eek: .. but managed a decent circuit class .. nothing up to par of my usual but I think everyone enjoyed a so-so easy class .. we sweated and pushed thru upper and lower body shaping .. much easier than I am used to teaching though .. although for an easy class .. my shoulders are tight and my core is sore .. so must have done something right!! LOL

Wendy .. glad the knee is better - still sending those positive healing knee vibes .. to have you primed for the upcoming race! ;) WOO HOO .. go Wendy!!

Jen .. that is what I am doing w/the X .. kinda making it my own .. not following a rotation .. mixing it up w/my classes and Cathe workouts .. it lessens the DREAD factor a lot doing it that way .. and keeps you from getting too bored also!!

Jacque - thanks for the CA history lesson .. I love hearing about different areas and their rich history .. helps me visualize better!! :) I should have been smart like you and brought a better shoe choice .. but really thought I would not be there that long .. but it was too much fun to leave early!! LOL

Angie - been meaning to ask you on the mushrooms you pick .. how do you know which ones are good and which ones are poisonous?? We have them growing all over down here .. but would not dare pick any. Hope little Maggie is all better today!!

Dee Dee - are you back to the RCR w/o now??

Not sure what I am doing today at lunch .. may "try" heavy legs in the gym .. if my knee holds out ..?? will play it by ear. Tonight's class is going to be the core/pushup/plank/yoga matt class ... :confused: .. gonna be hurting tommorrow!!

Jen: Sorry you aren't feeling the X. Don't force it. Do what appeals to you. I thought about doing the X for the 6 weeks between race training but I've changed my mind. :p I'll be doing a Jari Love/Turbo Jam rotation instead.

Laura: Glad your knee is on the upswing too. Glad you took it easy last night at class.

Off to do Ripped and Chiseled's upper body only...I have a feeling this is gonna H_U_R_T!!!! I haven't done a Jari work out in AGES!:eek:

Hiya chicks

I went to work for a bit this morning to get caught up. Hopefully now I can get out early tomorrow.:D I went and got the boys some big pumpkins to carve for this weekend. It was quite a workout gettin' those suckers out of the field and into the car. I can't wait to bake those pumpkin seeds. Yummmmmmmo!
Surprisingly I was sore in the low back and shoulders today from Squeeze yesterday. Today will be CoreSyn.

Laura - DH did a jazzy split on the floor??? Wow! Was HE sore the next day too?? I think my DH would've suffered an injury with that type of move. LOL!
Crackin up at the geriatrics class comment. I can just envision you wheeling in there with your jazzy scooter someday and still inflicting torture.:eek::p:D
We only pick the morrels which grow in the spring. We don't pick any schrooms in the fall. We have a bunch here too but don't know which ones would be good to eat and which ones are not.

Jacque - Sounds like maybe next week being rest week will be a good week to be out of town. At least that week is much more "sub" friendly.
I think Squeeze is very Yoga-ish but maybe Wendy will chime in here too since I know she has this one. It has a lot of low weight - high rep exercises with several stretches in there too. She only uses a 3# weight and there are times where I did not even use that. She has some moves that are kinda dangerous IMO, so I just don't use the weight in those moves. I think anytime you get whippin those weights around it's easy to tear a muscle, so I like more slow and controlled moves with weights. Although, most of her moves are fine. I really don't like the fact that she has no rhythm (her moves don't match the music at all) and says that "we're almost done" and keeps on going and going. *lol* Maybe it wouldn't bug me so much if I did it more often and knew what to expect. I'm such a Cathe snob.:p Nobody will ever come close to her, but I use her as my benchmark standard. I guess that kinda sucks for everyone elses vids I try to do. LOL!
Did that tennis ball work to get into those muscles? How's the hammie today?

Wendy - So....how was the Jari workout? I have a couple Di gave me that I haven't tried yet. Maybe I should give her a shot.

Jen - Maybe a 3 day split with 3 cardio days in there?? There's lots of Cathe's you could put in there for any of Tony's w/o's. I did a Cathe/Tony hybrid once that worked out nicely to get muscle and fight boredom. I hear you on the X dread. By the time the 12 weeks is up, I'm soooooo ready for something different.

A shout out to the rest of you girls. I've got to go tackle CoreSyn....

Howdy to all,

Was awake very early and though I had Yoga on tap - was going to do the whole thing but then fell back to sleep ! That was niiiiice - even had a dream - it's been a long time since I slept that hard !:p So got up on time and lo and behold, it was a PlyoX day anyhow. Got it done and felt good - the hammy was a bit tight so didn't bend down too far, but burned a good 650 cals with HR from 130 - 164.

Waaayyyy tooooo busy at work today. My AM snack was at 11:15. It will be a late lunch - BB to catch up.
 
Hi Again Girls.

Ripped And Chiseled upper body is done and all I can say is YEOWCH! Great burner!!! She does supersets so it's also a great pick for one body part a day since everything is together. Well, except for the lats. The woman always does back in the beginning and then lat pull overs AFTER triceps! I HATE THAT! I have to remember to skip to lats right after the rest of the back work. When I do lat pull overs after tri's my tri's hurt so bad that I can't concentrate on my lats and therefore can not go as heavy as I should be able to. Mental note is made for next time. Aside from that, I enjoyed it. I haven't done Jari's stuff in ages. I used to enjoy it so this should be a fun rotation for me coupled with the Turbo Jam cardios and one run per week to keep up the endurance while I'm not involved in race training. :)

Ang: How freakin' big are the pumpkins you picked woman!? LOL Glad you got some work done today. Any fun plans for the coming weekend? If you like endurance work outs then definately give Jari a try. Just block out her too thin Barbie Doll appearance and you'll probably like the work outs. ;)

Jacque: Good job with Plyo but how in the world do you confuse yoga and plyo!? They are worlds apart! LOL

Heading to MIL's for dinner soon and also supposed to be starting my Salsa dance class tonight. My friend that I am supposed to dance with stayed home from work sick though so I have a feeling we are going to miss the first class and there's only 4 of them. How lame is that!? :(

Well .. no lunch w/o for me ... wasnt the knee but time crunch . oh well!! Tonight's class will make up for it ... :confused::)

I know what move hurt my knee .. the boss drug out the fall decorations .. and I have on heels I bent down .. butt near the ankles .. and OUCHIE... it was the low low .. low as you can go dancing queen move that took out my knee .. think I went TOO LOW w/a high heel and problably over extended the knee past the toes .... but it PAINED again .. and back to throbbing .. but it definately is NOT my old injury .. no tears or strains .. think I just moved wrong and have some inflammation built up in there .. a little rest .. ice and ibuprofen should do the trick! Tonight's class should not stress it too bad .. may have to modify some of the lower body stuff .. but other than that I should be able to teach my reg. kick arse class!! :D

Wendy .. LOL about the way too thin barbie doll Jari .. that is why I have never purchased any of her DVD's .. I cant get past her thinness .. very disturbing to me ... I have had 2 of my friends suffer from anorexia and I cant stomach watching her .. she is just WAY too thin!!!

Ang .. we must not have good shrooms here .. dont think we have them in the spring .. just being curious .. cause I LOVE shrooms! DH would not dare admit he was sore from his John Travolta moves .. LOL .. but he sure was moving slow the next day .. LOL!! I just wish I had him on video .. OMG ... I would love to replay it .. LOL!!!

Ok .. gotta run .. Boss just came in with MORE fall decorations .. sooo cool! BBL to check in!!! :D
 
UGH ! I thought yesterday was bad - today is even busier.

Maybe that is why I wanted Yoga X to be this AM because then tomorrow would be Friday and the weekend would be here again ! :eek: :rolleyes: :p

Wendy - well that sounds like a great workout ! Soooo veryyyy happy that your knee is feeling good - also sending < < < knee feel good > > > vibes. Only a week and a half to HM, right? Sorry to hear about you most likely missing Salsa class - but if I were you I'd be askeered of turning my knee the wrong way - maybe it was meant to be ? ? ?:confused: And just so I can work on this: how do you end up going to one Mom's or the other for dinner EVERY NIGHT? Just what am I doing wrong here? :D Kidding as I only have one MIL I could even go to and she's a great cook, but doesn't do the socializing thing much any longer. Must be nice to be close to them. Though I would miss DH's grilling if I went out too much. Enjoy !

Jen ! - good to see you today. Ahhhh, Brian Kest. The only yoga DVD I have - he makes me work up a great sweat ! I'm with ya on the boredom factor of P90X. Probably another reason I was trying to get through the week quicker ! :eek: I am hoping that the rest week next week will revive me a bit and then it will be the next round of DVD's which will hopefully be a bit different? (At least I can hope). If I still can't "feel it" then I'll switch to the rotation I was going to do or the one that is 1/2 Cathe, 1/2 P90X.

Laura - I think we may be sympathizing with Wendy - I "torqued" my knee a bit this AM too ! Made sure to be careful the remainder of the workout. Just what is a-happenin' to all of us, huh? Think you need to be careful at work lady ! Bendin' down in heels, just where was your Safety Director ! :rolleyes: Well hope your knee works better at class tonight and that you had fun decorating. Just what do you do when you go off to work everyday?

Angie - So Squeeze does yoga moves like downward dog, crescent pose, warrior, etc? Is that how you got sore shoulders? Yoga type with weights sure does sounds kinda dangerous. Holding poses is hard enough - if you can even get to the pose !:eek: LOL about the rythym comments - I remember a Denise Austin tape once upon a time - Blech ! talk about not keeping to the music. Had a couple of instructors like that when I was a gym rat - just couldn't bring myself to go again. Like the "Cathe snob" term !:D Feel like that myself.

Quick check in -

I practiced TK and did some core and kb swings. I still haven't made up my official rotation.:eek:

I saw Squeeze mentioned - I have it and like the lower body work - I tacked it on to P90X legs when I did my P90X rotation. I actually made up a couple different mish moshes and boy does it burn. I still use it but not weekly and I usually use it as an add on. I've only done the whole workout as produced once.

Ugh, DD is calling me gotta run.
 
Hey there Shirl - good to see you had a chance to pop in. Well as I keep hearing about other workouts I makes me even more bored with P0X.:( :eek:

Help keep me on track at least another week or two ladies . . . :eek:

CoreSyn is done and it was tough since my obliques were still sore from yesterday.:confused: Since this is rest week, I can't remember what workout I have in front of me for tomorrow.:rolleyes: I guess it'll be a surprise.:p

Jacque - Squeeze doesn't have any yoga moves, it's just yoga-like to me. Tracy does a lot of small moves that really burn ya. I don't really like it too much, but I know it's probably good for me. Don't get me wrong....it's not that it's not challenging (because it is) but I just don't like her all that much. I'll still continue to sub it in there for yogaX, but it's not exactly a w/o I would say I look forward to. It gets into those muscles that you didn't even know you had. The shoulders are sore from a lot of 3# weight moves.
Stay with the P90X plan, but maybe give yourself some wiggle room. I'm finding myself subbing in at least one workout per week but sticking to the weight workouts as written.

Hey Shirl - IA, the Squeeze moves for the LB burn. Those moves with the feet up on the wall brings tears to my eyes......Ouch!! I've only done that w/o as the full body one.....hmmmmmm....maybe should consider just adding in short segments to other workouts. Maybe then I would like it much more. LOL!

I guess I'd better get back to paying attention to the debate.....although sometimes I'd like to just jump through the screen and slap somebody. *lol*
