Hey Ladies, does anyone know of any legitimate work at home jobs that could help me earn some income? Thanks, Lori

Are you wanting to work from home as your main income or just earn extra? I'd love to just work from home period. I get so tired of the daily grind of same time in, same time out.

I'd be interested in something like this as well.

I wish I could work at home also. You see ads all over for work at home but you never know what is legit and what is a scam. I would love it to make some xtra cash and get rid of the cc's. :D

I work from home and love it! I didn't necessarily apply for a WAH job, but when called for the interview, I indicated that's what I was interested in. Our group is split between locations anyway. The recruiter checked with the hiring manager and they were still interested in interviewing me. Long story short...I got the job and now work at home.

Legitimate opportunites for work at home:

- Home based Customer Service. Companies train you as a customer service agent and equip you to handle customer service hotline calls or respond to customer complaint emails from home. You may have to attend training in person before you get started. I am aware that this model of customer service is becoming very popular from tracking industry trends in customer service, but I dont know the names of companies that are the best in this model yet. Here is a link: http://apply.westathome.com/

- Catering. This is a business rather than employment, but you could be a caterer's caterer, or supplier to local small restaurants if cooking/baking is your thing. All you can limit your role to is in dropping off the food items to them to serve / sell. You can specialize in just a few menu items that you make very well, or even just one. I am not sure of the licensing needs since I am not in US. A way to break in could be to establish the list of potential businesses in your area and make an appointment to visit them with samples. I know people who make just one or two special dishes from home that they supply to more than one buyer on order. Some grow their business beyond what they imagined possible using this model. My mum is a well know bakery/cookery consultant/teacher in India. Some of her students who were housewives started out with this. One specialized in home made chocolates. The business grew so much that her husband quit his job to handle marketing. Another started with supplying cakes to caterers of parties. She runs her own bakery today.

Hello, do you know of any other at home customer service besides westathome? Thanks, Lori

I'm interested in this also for extra income. Any idea how much this pays per hour? I looked on some of them but they don't mention it, looks like you need to apply first.

The pay can range from minimum wage to $25 per hour based on skills, whether you have prior experience and the type of project you are assigned. Work that includes technical support (supporting computers or software programs) and/or data entry can pay even more.

Do you have a special field that you work in? I've been in the legal field since I was 19 (I started in 1984). In 1996 I quit my job working in a lawfirm to stay home with my 3 and 7 year old girls. After about 8 months, my 3 year old started going to preschool for 4 hours a day and I started to go stir crazy (since I'm so used to working), so I went to several legal temp agencies and signed up (with the condition that I would only work at home). I did get a several assignments from one agency, but was told by all the others that they would be slim to none (which I expected and I didn't hear from them). My old boss also would call me for special assignments when he was going to trial, etc., but nothing on a steady basis (which I wanted). I also looked in the classifieds every day in my paper (just in case) and one day I happened upon an ad for a paralegal who they stated could work in their office or "your own". I thought this meant I could work at home so I applied and sure enough, I could work from home. I got the job (that was over 12 years ago!) and I'm still working solely from home for this attorney (I do go into the office about once a week to get my mail and ask questions if I have any, but that's it). So what I would suggest is, if you have a specific field you are qualified in, sign up with agencies in this field restricting your work to be from home onlyw (you just never know), plus really look at the ads in the paper each day. I would have never dreamed I would have found an ad specifically for someone to work at home (especially legal work!). Of course I had been saying lots of prayers prior to me finding this job, so I know it was God answering them! I do wish you the best of luck -- if you can find a job at home, it is wonderful. My kids were small when I first started this job, but now my youngest is 16 and my oldest is about to begin her junior year in college. A lot of my friends think I should be ready to go back out and work in an office so I can be "around" people. I still have no desire to work outside of the office! Maybe I'm weird!
