Women on the Pill Choose Men Poorly!

That's interesting! I was never really on the pill until I got married to my second DH. I still think he's sexy. He drives me up a wall sometimes, but I think that's just marriage. It would be interesting to see more studies.
 
Oh yeah, my DD and I were talking about this today. She´s on the pill due to heavy and painful periods, but also at the age of looking for a mate, so she´s thinking that she´ll be attracted to men who turn out to be bad for her. So, seriously, what other options are there to straighten out her periods?
 
honestly this is going to sound bad but if you met my neighbors and some other parents in our scout troop. even if they met a bad man at least they are on the pill and won't have kids with a man that would take off!!! seems in this city doesn't matter if you are on the pill or not :confused:

as beavs said lots of jerks in the world. went through a few frogs before i found my PITA prince :p

Oh, I don't know...I wasn't on the pill when I married my ex husband...I think I was just young and stupid...

Second husband was a good choice for all the right reasons!

I wouldn't let one study make her change from the pill. I get bad periods too, and the best thing I ever did was to go on the pill. I'm not spending 2 weeks out of every month as a raging bundle of wacky emotions.
 
Absolutely no offense to the original poster (who obviously didn't write the article), but this has got to be the biggest load of crap I've read in a long time. How do you even remotely study this? Relationships are so complicated as it is, how could you possibly point to a medication as "attracting" you to the wrong guy. There are just way too many variables and too many wrong guys out there for me to find anything about this the least bit credible. And for someone who was on the pill when she met her DH, I think I did darn well! ;)
 
I agree with Liann, this is way too simplified!

I wasn't on the pill, I am still not and before I got married I would ALWAYS pick the wrong guy. Put 100 guys in front of me, blindfold me and I would pick the one and only jerk with amazing accuracy.

I think it changed when I met DH, well, I least I hope so although I am not always sure :eek:

I love my hubby and we are newlyweds...but how can you not love a guy who fell in love with you when you smell liked horse manure and you've cleaned so many stalls your sweat even smells like horse crap...a man that can see past all that...wow! He's a keeper...

I agree with Liann--this study is absurd. What really angered me when I read it was the comments submitted by readers at the bottom. Some jackass wrote this:

"I think that each exhusband should sue their ex wives if they were on the pill b4 they got married. Sue them for false attraction and wasting their lives for duplicitous love. If this is true women have alot to answer for."

What a moron.

And just to clarify, I posted this because I found it ridiculous and wanted to share the laugh, not because I thought it was relevant in any way. These studies always make me roll my eyes!

That is flippin hilarious! Maybe if men were responsible for birth control they wouldn't be so silly. Or maybe they'd prefer women stop taking the pill, so they'd......ahem.........have to get married? Oh lordy, I am just LMAO at that comment!

I fell for my ex hubby b/c he smelled like dog. Wet Newfoundland to be exact. Should he sue me? :D
 
I can't tell you how much I love being able to blame the pill and not my own poor judgment for all those "what was I thinking" relationships!!
 
hehe.....in my case, the pill saved me from my own bad judgement.
Met guy, got on pill, had kids together = BAD BAD BAD

after divorce.....
got on pill again, met guy = HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY + A KEEPER!

i'm insanely attracted to him and his smell too!

Well, if the pill has that effect on women, I wonder what viagra does for a man's judgement? No research there...I wonder why?


But seriously, what real purpose is there for a study like this? I married my one and only 24 years ago and was on the pill for years. Its still the real deal and going strong, so don't go second-guessing yourself ladies.

Lol, congratulations! In a way it seems kind of silly to me, and in another way, duh!! There's a couple other BIG hormonal changes women go through during their lifetimes...no way to avoid those. I think it's called...growth? As a woman, as a person, of course feelings are going to change.

I read an article on this previously which had a slightly different spin. It alluded to women on the pill picking men more like their fathers, brothers, etc who had a similar or "familiar" smell. It did strike on the fact that genetic variation is of course important, but it had less of a doomsday/ your marriage is going to fail approach.
