Windows 7

The other night, I purchased a new processor with 7. My old processor with XP was running and dying slow. So far, I love the quick response and how many things are easy to access. The Live Email is not my primary account, I opened up my Office 7 to do that.
My HP printer was made compatible to the new software.

New toys are always fun.

Everyone I know loves Windows 7. I've been on a few computers with it and HATE IT! I need to get one installed at home so I can mess with it and learn it. I am just finding it very difficult to find all the older things XP had. I know they are out there, I just can't find them.

Also feel the same about Excel and Word 7. I cannot believe the change in these software programs. Very confusing for me.

When I was at U of Phoenix, I was encouraged to use Office 7 although I was still on XP so I had to stay up to par with technology. To me, there are similarities with VISTA of 7. I have VISTA on my laptop. It's all web-based. My processor is twice as powerful, less expensive than my previous tower, and smaller.

Hi JT,

I just bought a new Gateway computer last week after using Window XP. I'm wondering how did you manage to get your HP printer to work? I tried to install my old HP printer but kept getting a message it was only compatible with Window XP or older, not Visa or Windows 7.

How did you make your HP printer compatible to the new software?

I just started a new job on Monday, and they use Office 2007. This is my first time using it and although I'm usually an Office whiz, I am struggling a bit- why did they make everything so flippin' hard to find? Why does Microsoft always want to fix what ain't broke and never fixes what needs it? This is making the process of starting a new job even harder than it would already be.

Hello CountrySide.
I have a online subscription to Geek Squad thru Best Buy, they created a bridge on my new pc so that my printer will work. There is information thru Microsoft to make it happen. I believe the search is "Microsoft 7 and HP Printers." My printer is only 3 years old.
Personally, I have enjoyed Windows 7. Office 7 has templates on many of the old forms you used to use on 2000. I like it alot.

I hate that as well. Newer versions should be improved, meaning MORE USER FRIENDLY, not futzed with just to make them different.

I had to use Powerpoint 2007 one day, and it took me forever to figure out how to find and open my document (it's like they wanted to make it as difficult as possible, or somebody at Microsoft is having a laugh at our expense!)

I've had Windows 7 for about a year now and really like it. There are a lot of things that I still need to learn about, but I don't mind. Sometimes it seems that lots of stuff is just change for change's sake which can be annoying, but it's always happening, so I just learn it!

I just bought a new laptop with windows 7 too.
I had vista before and it was so slow it drove me crazy.
Now I have to remind myself that I no longer have to turn it on then occupy myself
with breakfast or something while waiting for it. I don't have to wait for it to shut down.
I don't have to wait for it to close a page.
All that time I wasted before is now waisted on Ma Jong. he he

Cottagecheeks,
Yes, I did notice that too. My old XP processor took FOREVER to open up. This works so fast. Also, I have opened up LiveMail for my Hotmail address and using Office 7 for my primary email address. I used to turn it on and do other things while waiting for it.
Personally, I have no problems with VISTA on my Toshiba.

I so agree with you!!! I had an interview and a test on a Windows 7 machine. Needless to say I was lost and I consider myself a computer whiz. I was so flumexed by the stupid thing I almost got up and left. I did the best I could and never got a call back. No surprise there.

WTH is Microsoft thinking anyways? Like Kathryn said, they should be making these more user friendly, not so different that you can't even figure out how to open a template. Ridiculous!

Boy, do I have to eat my (microsoft) word(s) I can be pretty patient with learning new technology, but am realizing that my movies I made in Vista are not supported in Windows 7 live movie maker  REALLY??????? I never realized that an updated version of something would not support a previous version. Ridiculous.

Odd and crazy, 7 should support Vista......I had to get a patch/bridge for my HP printer from Geek Squad which was based on XP/VISTA.

That's the thing that bothers me the most about MS. Why do we need patches???? These new upgrades should be able to support EVERYTHING. Especially anything you had installed with XP or Vista. Doesn't make any sense.

I got my old printer to work. All I had to do was not use the installation disk that came with the printer. Just had to plug the printer into the USB port, turn on the power and Window 7 automatically installed the right drivers and what ever else it needed.
