I love the cold, it makes me feel great, and I can do so much more without having poping pain meds because the heat of summer causes me soo much pain and I can only take so much before I need a little help to keep going. But as the saying goes, if March comes in like a Lion it will go out like a lamb which means warm weather is around the corner, so this really is a good thing it's really cold right now, it means that summer is nearly here and it will warm up really quick.
My old timers were right, they told me last summer we'd have one of the worse winters in the last 10 years, and at first I didn't believe them as it sayed pretty warm threw November. And then a couple of weeks before Christmas we finally got winter and snow, so it really hasn't been that long for us. Just basically 2 and 1/2 months or so.
I even seen it snow up at the Grand Canyon in Az, June 18, it was my high school graduation, and my school booked a white water rafting trip for the seniors. But it had to be rescheduled as they got over 3 inches of snow, and the colorado rive is pretty cold in the summer, the won't let people raft when it's snowing as it's too dangerous for a lot of reason, one is if you fall out of the raft you can get hypothermia really easy, and being in an area where moderen technology can't reach you, that's a very bad thing, as even if you get hurt on a trip, they still got to hike out with you until they are high enough up in the canyon so they can bring in some type of air craft to haul you all the way out. For those that don't know, the rim of the Grand Canyon is over 5000 ft above sea level, they get snow there every year, and they get a lot of it. Even parts of the rim are blocked off during winter because they are so snowy and icy, that they are just too dangerous to visit and explore during winter. But if your intested in Skiing if that ever happens to snow while your visiting the Canyon there is a huge ski resort about an hour away.
So yes the snow fall that late in the year was unusual, but it wasn't a freak thing, like getting snow never happens. We did all get to run around and throw snow balls at each other, just we were all in t-shirt and shorts, since the part of Az we were in, was up to 110 already. No one ever thought of packing a pair of pants or a long sleved shirt. So we were all pretty cold in a short time and headed back to the nice warm bus.
It's one of things I love about Az, drove 3 or 4 hours, and you'd be in a competely different enviroment with competely different weather. Some of the city folks would actually drive up to Flagstaff go snow skiing for the morning then drive back to Havasu and jump on the lake and go water skiing in the after noon/evening during the winter.
Besides it could be worst we could be living in Antarctica were 50 degress is a hot summer day and -40 is a nice winter day. And at night it gets much colder as well as if you have an snow storm can easily drop to -80 or -90 degrees. You don't have to worry about driving, you'll be nearly frozen by the time you got to your car. That's when you actaully live under the snow because it's warmer then being on top of the snow. I know it's cold and it seems like winter has been going on forever, but it really hasn't.
Stay healthy and go workout to warm up the body,
