Wii fit or active

Hi!

I got Wii and Wii Fit for Xmas. It's great! Definitely a console game NOT for the couch potato!

Usually Wii comes with Sports, which is a nice collection of games & activities and the Wii Board comes with balance games, Yoga, cardio and weight training programs. You even get to choose a male or female trainer.

The fun thing is that not all games/activities are available to you right away. As you make progress more fun stuff is unlocked! Also, if you have a TV and a treadmill, you can use the jogging software and run through a nice park!

I'd say go for the Wii Sports package and the Wii Balance Board. And throw in an extra remote control to play doubles in Tennis or compete between family members.

Also, there's an updated pack coming soon which is called Wii Sports Resort and has an adaptor for the Wii remote control which catches even the slightest movement of your hand.

I used a bit of Wii during STS rest week. :D

does anyone have the wii fit or active. saw it on tv, looks fun!!!!

In my very humble opinion, Wii Fit is kind of a waste unless you are just getting into exercise or are very unfit. The balance games are fun, but not really "exercise" except that you are standing up and moving your body. But they are very challenging and great for balance. The cardio is basic and gets really boring really fast. Hula Hoop and the Running are the only things that get my heart rate up. But running in place really bothered a muscle in my leg, so I stopped. I was hoping my kids would use it--and they do like the balance games--but don't do them very often. The yoga exercises are good if you are just learning or for demonstration, but not as a yoga practice. The "strength" exercises are a joke. I don't really like the body test either, since it goes by BMI. And since I've worked very hard for the muscle I have, I'm in the "overweight" catergory.

I plan on purchasing EA Sports Active so I can use my investment in the balance board. It looks to be much more what I'm after. I'm hoping my 13-year-old son, in particular, uses it.

Just my review.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has tried EA Sports Active.

I purchased EA Sports Active yesterday. Going to try it out today at some point. Wii Fit is fun..but not challenging at all. My dd has fun with it and we enjoy the tennis. But its not a workout!

Looking forward to your review, Susan.

And I need to add that our family does love Wii Sports. But that isn't part of the Wii Fit package. Wii Sports Resort sounds very fun.

This is what I suspected when I looked into the Wii Fit. I have a Wii and the Wii sports are fun. Especially the training modes (Boxing is my favorite). But for cardio I'll stick to my DVDs. We mostly use the Wii for Rock Band and Guitar Hero :D

Does the EA Sports version require the balance board?

I think that it's a fun way to inject some activity in the day, and extra activity certainly helps, but it's not as effective as a real workout.

I have Wii Fit and it's fun, but not a real workout. I was looking at EA Sports Active on Amazon and it's getting good reviews. People are saying it's lots better than Wii Fit. Looks like some of the exercises in EA Sports Active can incorporate the Wii Fit balance board, but you don't need it.

Game Stop has a trade-in offer where you can trade in 3 Wii games for EA Sports Active (retail $59.99). We've got several games that we don't use very often, so I'm thinking about doing this.
