Why no calf work in squat rack leg?

I am really enjoying STS and can't wait to start the 3.5 month cycle over again. I'm seeing great results. Just wondering if there was a reason for not putting calf work in the Meso 3 squat rack leg option.
 
Karla, I thought I heard Cathe say in one of the M3 Squat Rack workouts that the calves are used as an assist muscle during all of the exercises. I assumed that is why she did not call out the calves in a separate exercise.
 
karla, I asked the same thing a while back and didn't see an answer. If the answer is that the calves get used as an "assist" muscle in Meso 3 leg workouts, why do we work them separately in other meso leg workouts? Tons of exercises that engage the calves secondarily are done in those, too, right? Just wondering and hope Cathe gets a second to answer! :D
 
I've been adding in 3 sets of calf pumps (20 reps) to the squat rack legs. I've done them in between the static lunge sets, and it works well.

I wish she'd added some calf work in too, but it's not a big deal just to put them in yourself. I'm guessing they just didn't want the workouts to go too long or something.
