Who's your jerk at work?

I have realized that everyone must deal with one

So, since I can't take a hammer to the back of his head, I thought at least I could vent here, and everyone could share their woes of what they have to deal with on a day-to-day basis.

My jerk at work is a fat bald 50-ish arrogant male @ss that struts around like he owns the place, knows 2% about everything on the face of the earth and tries to snow the supervisor into thinking he's the expert on everything. He treats everyone like his servant, and his ignorance and behavior have made it to people on the outside, so whenever I go to a conference people go "who is that idiot and why does he still work there?"

He has taken my hard drive, pulled info off of it, then wouldn't give it back. He has tried to sabotage very successful projects that I have conceived of, implemented, and pulled off without a hitch, yet he scampers to the new boss (we've re'orgd, the old boss left, and the new boss hasn't caught on yet) to tell him how I should be doing things. So of course the (male) boss asks, "why aren't you doing it this way, Jerk-face over here says it's better

Yesterday my head nearly exploded at this, so I gave my boss an intelligent answer to this idiot's false claims, and he understands now. But it won't stop that @ss-face from trying it again.

My old boss covered for him at every turn because he thought he was a genius. What the old boss doesn't know is that this guy mocked him behind his back, then brown-nosed him in the office. So, now I have to deal with this still, and hope that the new boss catches on to this guy. I just wish he'd retire or step into an elevator shaft.

Ok, I feel a little bit better now.....

Sorry to hear you have to deal with this.

Here's what I did when I was so angry at my boss I could spit: My therapist told me to go home and punch a pillow. I couldn't get into punching pillows, so I copied a photo of Boss Man onto my computer desktop at home, and downloaded a program which allowed me to attack the face on the screen in about a dozen different ways, including fire-bombing him, spray-painting him, and having ants slowly eat his face. :D It worked so well, I actually like the guy now. Of course, he wasn't even a fraction as awful as your Jerk Guy, and no way can you ever like Jerk Guy, but it may help you deal with some of your anger so that when you're at work you can calmly and intelligently explain your side of things until Mr. Jerk slowly loses all credibility. (insert evil grin here).

In time, he WILL get what's coming to him.

I've been out of the workforce for a long time, so I've had 14 years to get over my idiot boss fortunately.

I do have a family member who fills that vacant spot now. It's not nearly as bad because we don't see each other often, but any contact with this person makes me want to smack him/her upside the head.

Ok!...so the person that get's me all fired up the most, is THE CREDIT CARD LADY....Lisa! Oh gosh sometimes I want to RING HER NECK!....

All of us cashiers have to try to sell the store credit cards to all the customers. She's come to all of our registers multiple times a day and reminds us how to "sell" the credit cards.

ALL OF US know the drill! On top of that....I DON'T WANT TO SELL CC'S TO OUR CUSTOMERS (lisa!!!!!)...I'm screaming at her in my head! LOL...

I know that a lot of us are financially struggling and I don't think that asking people to sign up for CC's is a good thing.

Lisa almost got in to a fist fight cause she was making one of the employees soooo mad! ...Anyway...that's the person I can't stand that most at my work! ha!:D

Jerks at work

OK, with the economy the way it is and layoffs happening all around I have to say one thing: Thank GOODNESS I HAVE A JOB that I can HATE people at work. And then I don't hate them so much. To be honest, I don't really hate anyone at work.

Well, if you want "jerk", then I guess it is the management at my place of business that refuse to deal with the serious problem person in our office. This woman has caused several people to quit over the years with her animosity and overall meanness. She is also incompetent and needs to go away just for that reason alone. It is amazing how she badmouths the very people who seem too "afraid" of her to get rid of her. For one thing, we are not a union place of business, so documentation would not be a problem. Plus, she is almost 80 years old and insists that she will work there until she falls over dead. Now, with all due respect to elderly workers, this woman could be 30 and still not have the level of competence necessary for the job she is supposedly doing, but she is having some health issues that prevent her from doing her job accurately.
She may be the nasty one, but like I stated at the outset, the "jerks" are the ones who don't have the fortitude to deal with her.

mine is a middle aged woman who likes to point out everybody's faults but flaunts hers like its something to be proud of(married women shouldn't be in the clubs screwing about with other men you are either married or not) texts on the phone all day at work like she is a teenager always showing dirty pics or jokes like ppl want to see that crap talking about partying and getting drunk. complains how her grown daughter raises her child and generally seems like she knows all this about life and is better then everybody. like working in a high school isn't hard enough but you have this on top of it. and the screwed up part is she is older then me but acts just like the high schoolers.

she is the one that gives me a hard time about my body shape. can't help i have had a baby and several surgeries so my tummy is a little loose in a some areas but many have been nice to not point out her mustache or lack of cleveage(which is probably why she always gives me a hard time i am pretty ample in the departments she lacks LOL)

aside from that the downtown ppl that always come in and no matter how great of a job you are doing or how hard you are working there is never a pat on the back there is "do better do this do that". geesh in a department where ppl don't even want this job over nothing i would think one would be nice to the harder working employees. we would all give a little more crap about our jobs if we felt appreciated a little more instead of oh do better. the only way i can do better is if i started cooking steak for school lunches LOL.

Ugh me too and unfortunately my family member is also my boss. Her husband is a dentist. I swear she must have been born with yellow eyes (Rosemary's Baby) and small horns that are only visable if you shave her head. I started working part time for them as a favor since they were short staff and now almost 6 years later it is like working for the Mafia there is no way out. She uses the F-bomb in her daily vocabulary more than most people use the word "the" or "and." She has a massive Napolean complex and blames everyone for her downfalls. Her and her husband get into physical fights all the time in front of their children, . . who are just a mirrored reflection of their parents they are only 4 and 5. They curse, eat skittles for breakfast, chocolate and chips for dinner, and sleep at 11pm, and they hit each other a lot! What I really just hate is being surrounded by negativity all the time, . . it is why I took up running. I take my agression and frustration out running. I can't believe how much it has helped.

I'm so sorry...I know how this sort of thing feels.

My jerk is the boss - he plays favorites. Last week I watched as everyone in the office got a cash award but me. One of the people got a cash award for "doing their job!" and a few years back I created a project and worked on it for two years - didn't even get an atta girl. Boss is super close friends with a man in the office I call hillbilly - he's a stupid hick. Doesn't even understand the concept of wrapping text in an email - his emails are sent with shoddy format and all choppy as a result. He's admitted to me that when he doesn't undertand something about his job, he makes crap up! And tells the made up stories to customers! To top it off, I have personally witnessed him sleeping on the job countless times - and I mean HEAD BOBBING BACK sleeping in his chair. The boss knows this and does nothing, but last year, when someone complained that I used the phone too much, even though my father was sick with cancer and I was talking to family members, he sent me to the slaughter.

So yeah....he's a JERK....

My jerk is a part timer who spends most of her limited time on the phone with her tennis pals or running her side business on my company's time. She is friends with the wife of one of the bosses, so everyone either doesn't notice or turns a blind eye.

To top it off, when she does show up for work, doing all of us a favor by gracing us with her presence, within 45 seconds her personal phone rings and she is braying like a donkey to whoever has called her. Ugh!

My jerk is my co-worker. She is the most miserable person I have ever met. Her name in the office is Misery. Everyday she arrives in bad mood and creates a black cloud atmosphere for everyone else. She likes no one, blames everyone else for her nonsense. She is just down right rude, has no common courtesy for others. Needless to say when she is not there the office happy and upbeat.

My jerk is a smarmy misogynist who puts everyone down in meetings and then laughs at his own 'witty' comments. Anyone he has ever worked for can't wait to pawn him off on someone else, except for my manager and they have been friends for 15 years. He was originally asked to leave my division by my manager's manager and now is back and pulling the same crap. When I complained about him, I was told that 'it's just the way he is and you will get used to it'. So another woman complained about the way he treats her and was again blown off by my manager.

I don't invite him to any meeting that I hold (and I don't have to because its my project and his input is meaningless and he doesn't have a freaking clue) and now he is complaining to people that I 'gave him the cold shoulder'. Please! I'm the first one that hasn't put up with his crap. I don't ignore him, but I will not engage him in any way.

While I am grateful for a job, I've really been re-evaulating my position here. I have over 20 years of experience in IT and I really have not seen many changes in the 'good ole boys network'.

And I'm tired of printing out this guys picture and putting it on my heavy bag :D.

My boss for sure! You know, the guy who pees & poos on the toilet seat (that's when he leaves it down, most of the time he just leaves it up for us girls to replace).

He plays favorites too--always w/the guys & lower level female employees. If you're a woman in management, it's pretty much a guarantee you'll get treated like crap.

I've learned to live w/it b/c I'm glad I have a job in this economy, plus the fact that he comes in at 11:00 every morning gives me the flexibility of an extra long a.m. workout when the urge strikes. ;)

Oh wait, people have told me I shouldn't mention work or my boss. Or maybe it's OK now for me to mention it. I am so confused! :D

It's got to be Lauramax who complains about everyone else. Is on the computer posting on twitter, facebook, and forums all day and not doing what she is paid to do by the taxpayers.

I say we all report KeWl.

Go to the upper right hand corner of KeWl's post and click on it. Then type a message to SNM. If enough of us report this stalker, then SNM has to do something about it.

LauraMax has EVERY FREAKIN' RIGHT to post in this forum. You have no say in the matter. And at least 99% of us are at work posting. Why is she being singled out because of this?
