who is not doing cardio

I wanted to know who is not doing cardio and is only focusing on weights or has cut cardio down to 1 to 2 times per week? what are your results?

I stopped cardio 5-6 days per week almost a year ago... Best results in my life! BF dropped, scale went down (during recovery weeks) - cant stay too scale focused when you lift heavier...
Best time saving, physique changing move I ever did.

I do Kick 1x per week (30-40 min)
Hiit 2x per week (20 min)
Thats it for cardio!

what body type are you if you don't mind me asking. also what is your weight routine with such little cardio. are your HITT sessions on a treadmill? what are your sprint interval times for this? sorry so many questions. I feel like i may not need that much cardio as long as i lift heavy.

Hi Kariev,

I only do cardio about twice a week right now and sometimes only once. Now, my goal has always been to do 3 cardio sessions per week but I almost never make it!x( I've been keeping a detailed workout log for about 3 years so it's really easy for me to go back and check my actually frequency of workouts. This is usually a big, sometimes disappointing, eye opener

I started increasing the strength training and decreasing the cardio in May of 2007 and I saw a difference pretty quickly. I have been experimenting with different types of weight workouts and rotations and it seems that I do best with a couple of full body workouts per week with a weight somewhere between medium and heavy and a couple of really fun, steady state type cardio sessions.

I do HIIT too, but contrary to the current thinking on cardio and fat loss, I seem to see better progress (weight control wise) with steady state like running, walking, and stuff like Rythmic Step!!! Also, I don't see great results with compound moves or circuit workouts. So I save those for "fun" days. I do love the HIIT for actually increasing my cardio endurance though

I did do the PS series with the weights 3X a week and two days of cardio. A few of those weeks only had one cardio day:eek: I saw good results from this too. Definitely slimmed down! Lost about a half of pant size without changing my diet at all.

The real reason the full body workouts work better for me is that when I break up all the body parts throughout the week there is a greater likelihood that something is going to get left out for that week!x(

Well, anyway, that's my story, I'm still experimenting and have started a whole new rotation which still includes a total of 6 days per week. But I am seriously considering going to just 5 days a week and alternating between 3- strenth, 2 - cardio and 2-strenght, 3 - cardio!

So what do you find works for you? What kinds of workouts do you like best?

Sorry this is such a long post!!!

Kerry

I am 44- perimenopausal body that had become bottom heavy. I am 5'5 with EXTREMELY small bone structure. I lift heavy for upper & moderate for lower... I use NO risers on step.... Plyo type work brings out the best in my lower
My rotation (which I change up regularly + I use varied instructors so the approach changes things up)
1. Lower w/ Weights (IE GS Legs)
2. Upper Split + Kick
3. Plyo or Leg Drills done in Hiit method
3. Upper Split
4. Lower w/ Weights (different than day 1)
5. Upper Split
6. cardio coach run /bike, Blasts only of LowMax, any Imax etc...done in Hiit method (just use your pause button)
REPEAT
I take rest days as I need/want- I dont stress about # of days per week any more...

Eating CLEAN is crucial regardless of your rotation:eek:

great post. for me, i have always done 3 strength workouts and 2 or 3 cardios per week. i got great results from an upper/lower body split but have been experimenting with 3 day splits like GS. I've started to get into circuits as well b/c i just think they are fun. I don't have weight to loose which is why i'm questioning doing more then 2 cardios per week. however i'm afraid to drop to 2 b/c i don't want to gain.
