Who Cares? November : )

Hi girls! Today did a Cathe live.

Ronne, hope you are feeling better! Funny, I still have to start shopping!

Jody, 4 trampolines to go to London? Sounds like an amazing deal to me! DD leaves Florida tonight after the game, another 22 + hours on a bus. She will be home Thursday. DS comes home at midnight tonight!!!!!

Lisa, isn’t this weather crazy? 50’s here. Enjoy your massage tomorrow. I’m so glad you found something to work for you. DH tells me to try it, however I get drug tested, don’t want to lose my job!

Tracey, I love workout shoes, I must have 15 pairs, all different colors and styles, I get them on sale, match all my leggings!

Hi to Murphy and Roxie!

Might be here kind of sporadic with the kids coming home. DS leaves for Europe right after Christmas, he’s going to Stockholm, Amsterdam, (for New Years), Paris, Rome and Venice. I’ll be going to Target for the after Christmas sales! Lol! Mary

HI all,
Did an UB MM premix. The LB premix is on the schedule for tomorrow and I think I will try the shorter UB MM premix the day after. I should probably save it for a day I am really short on time but what the heck. :)

Mary - I am so jealous of your son. That trip sounds amazing.

Waves to all.
Murphy

Today I did RWH LIH1 and abs1. I liked that the abs were not that long, but I was prepared to skip some chapters. My younger dd did it as well but she was sore cuz she did Legs and Glutes w/ some abs yesterday!

Murphy I appreciate shorter workouts most all the time.

Mary, I'm a little jelly of your son, too but LMAO at you being at Target. Hooray! (Insert Target Lady from SNL reference).

Lisa, my RWH workout this morn was from our road trip days so you can picture me with teeny tiny arms and 3/4 speed. I'm not the woman I once was!

Ronne, in reference to my visit, did you ever find out who the VIP was who was visiting? I keep forgetting to ask.

Waves to the rest! Everyone have all the decorations up? We are warmed up here again, I had the heat on for a few days but we are back to AC. I'm working next two days, I hope we are a little slower than the last few I worked.

HI all. I took a rest day today. I was just so tired. I am trying to avoid that holiday run-down feeling. Waves to all.

Murphy

Hi everyone! I've been lazy last 2 days. Today I'm spinning no matter what! Mary, why does DH say to try it? Jody, as long as we keep moving! I tagged you and others in that cycling article because you said your favorite was resistance training, that used to be mine too. The article at least justified to me that being forced into cycling was a good thing!
As usual I can't remember anything else for personals. Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, I know Mary will! Enjoy those kids!

Lisa, I felt like the study showed benefit for Hiit (via stationary bike). I agree with Hiit for sure. I've done fewer and fewer long cardio sessions, even though I enjoy a long hike or bike ride. I just don't think its the most bang for my buck. Cycling has totally agreed with you for sure. You probably do a lot of Hiit with your hills interspersed in your rides as well as get the benefit of those long endurance workouts.

A study published Tuesday in the medical journalCell Metabolismshows that cycling three times a week in short, high-intensity bursts for a total of 48 minutes can greatly help reduce the effects of aging at a cellular level in the elderly by boosting energy and reducing frailty.

Today is an upper body workout RUUB. I've noticed my resting hr went from mid 60s as per my fit bit to mid 70s while in London (hello wine and late nights and caffeine tablets) and it is slowly dropping back down. I'm off today, maybe I'll finalize holiday stuff. We put some laser projection lights up outside. They look great. Apparently I bought them last year on markdown since they were $$.

Have a great holiday everyone!!!

I totally made up for my laziness , yesterday, I did one and a half hours of spinning, was just into the holiday music was being played for the classes. Today I did another 50 minutes holiday music. Ronnie, sorry for the miss spelling I’m verbally dictating this anyway my right hamstring is a little twinges and I thought of you. Then I noticed when I leaned against the counter and hit my glute a certain way the pain ran down my hamstring so I think it’s sciatica, from all the heavy resistance I’ve been trying to do on the spin bike. Also my knee hurts and these are the exact pains my neighbor has and I kept telling her to use it easier gear and now I have proof. Jody, true it did touch on the HIIT portion, and yeah going up those hills definitely like an interval. In fact for this one hill we’re going pretty easy for a long time and I have to be careful not to have my heart rate be too low when I enter the hill or else I’m going from like 80 beats a minute to 150 in like a minute and that I think can bring on that lovely headache. I know I do a lot of long rides but that’s mostly for the mental boost and emotional boost. It’s funny how we all zone in on what’s important to us from reading an article, for me it was just the fact of cycling, for you was that HIIT portion, and for my neighbor she said 48 minutes. As in we should only be cycling for 48 minutes instead of the four hour ride we do, of course four hours is because she so slow and I have to wait on her a lot. Hope everybody is ready for Christmas I finally have plans nailed down with the boys and their spouses!

We finally got some measurable snow last night, 4 inches so it's beginning to look like Christmas!

My hamstring is really bothering me so I decided to be sensible and not do any spending or anything and just rest it. Last night in the middle of the night I must have stretch my legs out and I had this huge Charlie horse in my right hamstring and I screamed out woke up my husband. I really was going to push through it but I remembered pass injuries I pushed through that never healed and just got worse so I'm doing the smart thing and resting hope all has a great holiday season

Hi girls! I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas! Wicked cold here, I mean wicked! I have been working out. DS is in Stockholm now, exhausted now with the traveling and time change. Amsterdam tomorrow. Other kids and I just hanging around. I think we are going to see Jumanji today. Dwayne Johnson is pretty easy to gaze upon! Hope a good day to all!

Mary, happy to share the cold with you! [emoji16]. I tried light spinning on Christmas but hamstring still hurting so resting when it's frigid day (was a high of 7 one day) and last 2 days it got above freezing so I walked Suki. We went out to dinner last night with the boys and the wives. I've been feeling a bit nauseated today, I think I have a touch of something that DH had a couple days ago.

Wow, Lisa, 1.5 hours of spinning to holiday music?? LOL! I hope you are feeling better/didn't get very sick. There is a long bike ride along a canal I might try to finally do this weekend.
Mary, I hope your son has wonderful fun and safe travels. My younger dd is still home for break and working on her paper. Older one off for the weekend to visit her dad and my dad in Daytona.
Checking the temps in all my cities of interest- we are cool enough to have windows open today (70F at the moment) but I see Mary is below freezing, brrrr. Do you (all ) have snow on the ground? I hope everyone had a great holiday.
I should be getting my new workouts soon, especially if I bother to check the mail, lol. Get together with my old dance buddies tonight and workout this afternoon are my plans for the day.
Who will start us off in the New Year? What will it be called? So much responsibility and commitment!

It was warm enough and snow all melted and trails dry to take a bike ride with DH. 18 miles, I'm exhausted, DH pushed me!

Jody, lol about the holiday music, the second spin class had some creative holiday music, not the typical songs and I just kept going! Hamstring is better, my brother told me not to do a hard resistance and instead stick with higher cadence like I do outside. My tummy is much better too!

Hello all! Have been doing Cathe live, figure I pay for it, should use it! I’m supposed to get the new dvds today. I will give them a go, so cold here, I can be active....in the house!

Jody, I can’t believe your DD has homework over break! That’s not right! My DD has been a bit lazy, generating energy for next semester. DS is doing ok, friend that he is with lost their phone in the first 24 hours, has put a bit of a damper, they are hitting up the Apple store today.

Lisa, cannot believe you can ride outside! The dogs here just look out the door, too afraid to go outside!

Roxie, are you going to do the KCM monthly subscription?

Hello to Murphy, Ronne and Tracey!

Happy New Year to all! Mary

I just finished SnS BC and yesterday was RWH Hiit LB Circ. I'm sort of following the Ripped and Sweaty rotation from users manual. Maybe I'll sub split body parts from the new workouts as that comes up. Mine haven't arrived just yet.
Mary, this thesis is from her Africa work. Perhaps could have been completed prior to break??? She's pretty busy. I don't envy her! Ugh to losing phone. There is a lot to getting the hang of travel. I'm srsly working on it myself! I hope the kids get things worked out easily.
Waves to all! I have to go see my friends again!

Hi fit babes! And Happy New Year to all of you!! Thank you so much for letting me join your forum, I really enjoy reading about each of you! Ready for my end of the year essay?

Hi Ronne! Thanks for setting the bar so high for Jody's visit! Glad you both had a great day together. I need a pop up pub at the end of my road! How do I get one of those? Hmmm, the GG premix? Do I have that one? If you are swearing at it, then it's probably not for me! I really enjoyed your rhyming prose about book group! And thank you for explaining Jody's accounting method because I didn't get it either. We've had cold temps this month with sunny days (pretty unusual for us) and got snow on Christmas Eve. Just beautiful. Now it's all melted away and we got close to 2 inches of rain in 2 days!

Lisa--so glad your foot and ankle are better and you were able to hike with BFF! We are getting another cavalier like BB but in a different color. BB is 7 and I call him all sorts of things like puddin' pop, booboo so he can still be BB too. I'd say if you are messy due to your creativity, then my DH is a creative genius around here! For example, he leaves wrappers on the counter rather than throwing them in recycling or the garbage. Grr! Congratulations on your DH's upcoming retirement! Jealous! I have a ways to go to get there myself. I think it's a good thing you miss him when he's gone! I can't believe you got to 60 degrees in December! That's unheard of here and I consider the western part of WA to be mild compared to most states east of us. I did partake in MJ in my youth but my sister was very against it. Then a few years ago she sent me an email asking, "Do you like pot? I do, I finally got that stick out of my a$$!" I burst out laughing. I'm glad your hamstring is better and your snow melted--nice!

Hi Roxie! I'm glad you are liking the new KCMs! I looked at them briefly but haven't looked at any clips yet.

Mary, every year is different for the holidays with us. Last year, we had a quiet Thanksgiving at my sister's, then an open house at our place on Christmas. This year, we had T-day at our place and everyone did their own thing for Christmas. I appreciate that we all try to keep the stress level down a bit with family gatherings and the holidays! I think I have 13 years to go to retirement. DH and I are putting money away for it but we're not quite clear on how much we'll need by the time we get there. I know we'll figure it out though. Are you going to continue with Cathe Live? Just curious, my friend has it and loves it. You know, I am right there with you on those phone distractions! Glad you didn't have any in the second row of the band concert. I must say I am jealous of your workout shoe collection! My outfits match up but the shoes, uh, not so much. I'm also jealous of your son's travels, it sounds like an awesome trip--with a new replacement phone of course!

Murphy, you cracked me up with your "blah, blah, blah" post but I completely understood it! Are you planning to do a rotation at the start of the new year? I'm going to do a new Beachbody rotation called 80 Day Obsession. We'll see if I can make it through all 80 days! I will if I don't get bored. It starts Jan. 15.

Jody, I need to friend you on FB so I can see all of your photos of your trip! And I have to say that DH and I are very American like you--when we go somewhere, we have to see everything and come back exhausted! I'm sorry you went to work on the wrong day! Were you able to find a washer for your mom? I have a Samsung front loader and I like it. I would only get a top loader again if it had an agitator in it. They still make those believe it or not but you have to find them! I did get new workout shoes, Nike again. It's hard not to when the clearance store was on my way home from a friend's house and they had 30% off on top of that! My only recommendation for Nike is to not buy Nike Free. They are less expensive for a reason! The cushioning doesn't last long. And for work, even though I'm not on my feet all day, I wear Dansko the most. I think the hard surfaces I've worked out on all these years has taken their toll! Doesn't it suck that you can only spend money once? But you only live once too so enjoy the experience! And easy maintenance is my motto, whenever I can use it! The thought process of getting a new puppy was Basil's breeder texting us on Thanksgiving, "I just had a litter and there are 2 male tri-color puppies. Are you interested?" We always wanted a companion for BB and we had agreed to breed him with one of her dogs but it just never worked out. But right now, I am unable to reach her and have no clue as to what is going on. She has a lot on her plate so I am being patient but I would like to hear from her. I'm not counting on getting the little guy until it happens! I cracked up with your question of who will start us off in the new year and what will it be called? That IS a lot of responsibility, especially for a newbie like me! But I am committed! I have a suggestion of what to call it but I'm fine if you don't want to use it: Strong and Sensible. I don't think there is a thread with that name but I don't know for sure!

So, for the past 2 weeks, I've probably done a whole lot of sorta workouts! By the 22nd, I couldn't put a Cathe workout in the player for anything. I was burned out, tired, stressed, whatever. My dream job opened up at work and I am sure there will be at least 50 applicants for it. And although I would love to say that I'll be fine if I don't get the position, I know I won't be fine. Then there was that train derailment you may or may not have heard about that affected quite a few of my friends and co-workers who take that route daily. I am so grateful that none of them were hurt driving to work that day. Christmas was quiet and relaxing though, mostly because DH was sick! But I cooked a lot of good food and took it easy. Then DH gave me his illness as one of his gifts! It knocked me down pretty badly but I am now feeling I am a part of the world again and not just an observer!

I am sorry if I was a downer, I don't mean to be! I know that this is a positive group and I definitely lean that way more often then not. Thanks for reading! I wish you all a wonderful and healthy 2018!!

Hi everyone

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. Way too much to catch up on but I have read everything at least. Tracy - you are never a downer!! I love reading your posts and I think your suggestion for next year's title is great. If everyone else is happy, let's go with that.
Glad to hear everyone's had a good Christmas. Mary - I bet your DS is having a ball in Europe. Where is he spending NYE?
Hugs and love to everyone and let's hope 2018 is a good one!

Hi I wanted to squeak a post in before NY, too! Tracy, I also like Strong and Sensible. Good luck w/ the new puppy if that is what the Universe has in store for you- and same thing for potential new job! I'll say a little prayer for you. Yes that train derail was pretty horrific. Ronne, yes I hope 2018 is a good one for us all!
No workout for me today. I'd spent two eves hanging with the dance friends (even had the chance to pass on some medical Mj). Last night was a bonfire- I didn't get home til 2 am! Then today I went to Jumanji with my dtrs and really enjoyed it- two thumbs up, quite recommend! I passed on another eve with the girls. I've already gained 10 pounds probably since getting home from London. I'm like the black out binge drinker except with food. Hey, 2018, time for a sensible change!
