Who cares - June

My I have a bit of catching up to do! It feels weird to post when every post is, I rose my bike! Monday neighbor and I rode 30 miles, she is keeping up better with her new bike, but as she says, I still blow the doors off her when we are climbing hills. Tues I hikes with my BFF! I did a total of 7 miles! Just a minor twinge in my fiit/ankle, yea me! Still being sensible (that statement sounds very Ronne-like). Today a short ride of 18 miles with my neighbor. DH is sick , we think he caught it last day of his biz trip. I'm trying not to catch it since we leave Sunday for SD.

Ronne, the fact you mention gears/ratios makes me think you know something! I still need to learn about the technical aspect of it, I just ride! My BFF is doing yoga, I think it's those that are flexible that like that. Makes sense that we like the things we can do pretty well.

Jody, lol on competition with neighbor, of course we did! She actually blew past me a bit and I couldn't have that! Boom, passed her back and she had no reserves. She really needs to work on her cardio. No colonoscopy for me, I have no plans to either. I think they should pay me for the misery you have to go through! I'm going to take the British stance on that!

Mary, you sound like the life of the party [emoji322]!

Murphy, WTG with the rotation. You have a long way to go with the kids, but then you're the youngster around here!

Hi all

Murphy - I'd forgotten your kids were so young. I can't imagine having a 9 year old around now. Nice age!

Mary - have a great time with youngest DS.

Lisa - No, I don't believe me! I'm just very good at picking up vocab without understanding what I'm talking about. It must have been fun doing a hike. That's a decent distance as well.

Did a LBB premix today. I was doing the Standing/Drills premix but got to the end of the Standing and felt like I'd had a good enough workout so went straight to the stretch. (It's that s word again Lisa!

Hi all! I did 30 min of LIC today, working tomorrow so maybe I'll have time to do some stairs.
Ronne, f/u was meant to be follow up and it was in reference to helping my mom get her treatment for her thyroid resolved. She's losing about a half pound a day and I'm concerned it isn't just the thyroid. Regarding DD exams, they were written, not forms, right? Best wishes, I'm guessing she'll do well.
Lisa, LOL, at least you are posting activity. Sometimes I just show up w/ no workouts to show. I thought of you making fun of my no arms today when I was doing step. : P
Mary have a fun weekend!
Murphy, I'll post pic of dd. I'm jelly too but she's working and studying. You'll see what I mean.
Roxie, it takes me years to unpack boxes, good luck.
Tracy, if I do those stairs I'll think of you.

Hi fit babes! Obviously, I'm not keeping up here!

Let's see. I did have the colonoscopy as recommended and the prep you do at home is worse than the procedure. I was really loopy during it and it wasn't painful. And don't need to do it again for another 10 years (well less than that now) and my mind isn't nagging me to do it. Or my doctor!

Did you do stairs Jody? I did them again today. The stair climb I'm doing is in early August and costs $45. It's to raise money for a no-kill animal shelter. I can definitely support that! I still follow the 21 DF plan for the most part. I added a few things back in after the first 21 days and admit I enjoy Adams peanut butter too much and have to watch it! I'm more of a salt person than a sweets person. Hope you got your spa appt.! DH gave me a gift certificate for a spa treatment and just need to figure out what I wanna do. I don't feel groggy or anything from the stuff I take to help me sleep, it's all OTC stuff and it's not too strong.

Lisa, I'm so glad you had a good hike! I'm hoping to get one in soon with a hiking buddy. We just can't mesh our schedules at the moment. And of your neighbor getting a new top of the line bike--I get it! The accessories make the workout better. :)

Ronne, I figured out that Cardio Slam is a lot longer than the 40 minutes or so it says on the dvd so I don't do it all either! That's a long time to wait for exam results, but I understand it if it's nationwide!

Mary, stairs are a great low impact workout, if you don't run them or be a maniac like you saw at the gym! I may take 2 at a time now and again but there is no running on my part! I also envy all the fun you have. :D

Murphy, good going on sticking with the rotation! I do them my way--no weekend workouts and do premixes if necessary. You are totally rocking it!!

Roxie, I hope things get better for you! I can't recall the first day of work ever being an incredibly joyful one for me, ever! And the unpacking will get done eventually. Once you have your everyday stuff unpacked, the rest will come in time. When DH and I moved to our current house, we had stuff in 2 storage units and an apt. and this place was full of boxes for a good 6 months or more. And that was after the garage sale and donations to Goodwill!

I decided not to do any workouts on the rotation this week because I want to start it sometime. I did Push/Pull from BB and my legs were feeling it the next day, woo! Ran with BB, and did some ab and arm work yesterday. Anyone ever do the 100 rep challenges from XT? I did and I'm pleased to report that my arms did not fall off which I was sure they were going to do.

Warm earlier this week, then rain last night and today. Not complaining, it saved me from watering plants!

Take care fit babes! Tracy

Hi all

Tracy - yuck! Well, like you say, it's out of the way for another 10 years! I did do some of the 100 challenges. I think the only one I didn't do was the hip thrust as the position looked so awkward I thought I'd hurt myself. I really like Cathe's demeanour in those segments, she's really chatty. That's a good reminder, I might have to get them out as I haven't done one for ages.

Jody - thanks for the clarification. I think that's nurse's speak. Hope you can find out what's wrong with your mum, that's a large weight loss at that age. Yes, they're written papers varying from an hour to 2 and a half hours long. She's got 22 exams in total across all her subjects. One more week to go after this!

Did CSS and added on the abs from S&S as well. Weather's brightened up a bit after a few days of rain. I need to go shopping for Costa Rica this weekend, need to get some decent light walking shoes and trousers for rainforest walking.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Yesterday was HR UB premix, today, rode with neighbor, 28 miles, 1500 ft elevation gain! That's a lot! Rescheduled trip to SD because DH is still not feeling well . Neighbor says she still feels so slow, told her it takes time. Tracy, I've done them all once, they are quite challenging! Oops, DH needs me, gotta run!

Saturday was half of xt cbs, it was about right amount for the new sensible me. Today dh and I did an ebike ride, barely got my hr up, avg of 98, that's low, guess these ebike aren't as challenging for us. Thinking about selling them but then I can't take suki as she's just too heavy and awkward to take her on my little regular bike. Dh and I thinking about expanding into a mountain bike, not that we'd do rough trails so don't really know why except just because. I think the biking bug is biting hard! Dh was tired from our low intensity ride today though because of being so sick and still not up to snuff. Ronne, when is Costa Rica? Any special plans of things you're doing there, besides rain forest? Zip line? Hope all had a great weekend and those not working out got some steps in, I have to back off my steps, the ankle is hurting right where that extra bone is, sigh

Hello

Lisa - you really are addicted! You'll be able to open a small shop soon! We go in a month. I got some shoes for walking this weekend, I've got hiking boots but I wanted something a bit lighter but still waterproof and fairly solid for walking in rainforest. DD might do some surfing, we'll definitely check out the zip wires and tree top walks etc. And also a bit of lazing around!

Had a weekend off exercise in the end. But we did go out for a nice walk yesterday afternoon. Sun was shining and the countryside was looking beautiful.
Did a TTM premix today.

Hello hello. I did a walk/sprint today f/b sh bi tri and some abs from MIS. I think I did MIS ch and back with a run a few days back? I penciled in some workouts for the rest of June since I have my work schedule. I don't know why I never tried to plan that way before. Or maybe I have and didn't follow that either. : /

Ronne, one of my friends from Daytona is in Costa Rica right now! I bet your trip will be fun. I'm reading a London travel book with advice for US visitors like, "don't talk loud while on the tube" and stuff like that. LOL. Also, re the XT challenges, funny b/c I think the only one I've done repeatedly is the hip thrust.

Lisa, sorry DH not up to full speed. Oh, get it? ha ha. Yeah, it's funny to think of you two having 6 bikes for all your various needs. You need to keep an ebike in case I ever visit, I won't be able to keep up with you : D. Is your ankle hurting b/c of the hike?

I hope everyone else's week has been good, or rather off to a good start since today is Tues. IMG_61901.jpg

PS this is dd in Kruger catching rodents, it's not all big game glamour, ha ha!
PSS I was wondering about cloud vs hard drive back up storage for photos etc and wondered what choices you guys make. In the end I am putting my photos on amazon cloud since its included w/ my prime. I bought an external HD but I guess they break and so I went with cloud. Lisa I know you have used drop box. anyway.....

Hi ladies! Bicycling last 2 days, yesterday neighbor, today DH. He's finally on the mend. 50 miles done!

Jody, did is so pretty, rodent not do much. Your pun was clever. I'm not a very organized person with photos, they're all crammed on a hard drive much like the real photos from years shows are crammed in cardboard boxes. Good job on the workouts. Yes ankle did glare up and I had to make sure not to walk too much and used mobic (meloxicam) to combat the inflammation. Back to snuff now. I think we're keeping the ebikes for now. Ronne, I can't really think of why I need/want another bike. I could use 1 more gear (maybe 2) easier for these hills when I'm tired. Hmmm, maybe that's the reason! A mountain bike since it has more lower gears. But then I'd have to choose which to ride, it's like picking a favorite child!

Hi girls! How is everyone?? I have been working out, just not on the travel days.

Jody, DD is beautiful! Just like you! Even that little rodent is kind of cute. I think my photos are in the cloud somewhere?

Lisa, where do you store the bikes? Is DH all better?

Ronne, I love shopping for vacation and then buying when I'm on vacation! Will you be there for an extended time? It's so beautiful there!

Roxie, how's the new job going? Better? The unpacking?

Murphy, how are you??

Tracey, crazy hot here, 90's. I'm with Jody the hip thrusts are the only one I have ever done. I love working lower body the most tho.

Well, trip was fun. DH surprised us and flew down, so that was amazing! Traffic is D.C. is insane. Was so glad to park for the weekend! DS is working in Alexandria, I was worried this morning, he walks to work from the train. When you watch the news on a breaking story you just don't know what is going on.

We saw all the big sights, TONS of walking, I think my Fitbit told me I walked 22 miles in 3 days and climbed 68 flights of stairs. I was tired! Funny story, DS picked a restaurant, The Capital Grille, sounded reasonable, (I mean it's a grill!). The appetizers started at $22 and went up to $110!!! We all looked for the cheapest thing we could find and got out of there!! I'm sure we looked the tourist part!

Gotta get dinner, good night to all! Mary

Hi everyone

Mary - Sounds like you had a great time (if tiring). That's a lot of walking. Wow to the restaurant. DH and I had a similar experience a few years ago in Berlin, the restaurant didn't take credit cards so we ended up choosing the cheapest thing on the menu and a glass of water as that was all the cash we had!

Lisa - glad to hear DH is getting better. The bikes are (expensive) replacements for all the DVDs you used to buy!

Jody - great photo! I'm with Lisa on photos, I don't really do anything. An accident waiting to happen! I do have a Megadrive folder where I back stuff up in the cloud.

So, I've been getting the workouts in. Yoga on Tues, (an advanced one that didn't hurt!), Back & Biceps premix from RWH yesterday and Imax 3 premix 1–5 today.
Weather's great here at the moment. Nice temps and sunny. Went to book group last night and we sat outside till 11pm with a bat flying around us!

Good Evening,

Job is some what ok but when it's storming out not happy about driving. We still have some unpacking to do to be comfortable but getting there. Found out we live in an HOA and they don't want us parking the boat in the driveway so we had to take it out to our DD's.

Hi fit babes! Funny, the only XT challenge I haven't done is the hip thrusts! :D I am always looking for upper body workouts because I think there are a ton of leg workouts out there already. :)

Ronne, 22 exams??? Yikes! I take it that there is time given to study before each exam? I hope you have a wonderful time in Costa Rica, I've heard it is beautiful. Have you been there before? Good going on Imax 3, I avoid that one at all costs!

Lisa, I don't think you can have too many bikes! Or shoes, or workout outfits, the list can go on and on! If it makes you excited to ride, get what you want, er I mean need. :D I'm glad DH is feeling better and the 2 of you are back to rocking the rides! I hope your ankle is doing better too.

Jody, you crack me up! Maybe planning workouts then not doing them. I have to plan so I can psych myself up to do them. Then sometimes I change my mind completely and do something different. This week was figuring things out on the fly because I was not picked for jury duty. Next week, I'll start the June rotation because I won't be out of the office for work after all. Yippee! Your DD is beautiful, I don't know how I would deal with little rodents but she's doing just fine! Oh! Can I borrow that book about London? I plan to go there some year and don't want to be a rude American. o_O As for photo storage, I have some in boxes, DH has some on a hard drive, and I used Dropbox once to send my sister a video before you could upload them to Facebook. Dropbox closed my account due to lack of use! I take all of my photos with my IPad Mini now so I store them on Apple's cloud for free.

Mary, I'm glad you had a great trip! Seems like you got a few weeks' worth of workouts in too! DH and I wanted to have a nice dinner when we were in Vegas but really couldn't justify a meal that started at $40 per person. I mean, it's food. It wouldn't last long and it wasn't a show we could see or anything we could take home so we stuck with the cheaper eats. I'm glad DS is OK!

Hi Roxie! Glad you are getting settled in. I'm sorry about the HOA, they are not my favorite entities. I have a friend who defies his when they get too petty. :D

Hi Murphy! Are you doing the June rotation? Are your kids out of school now?

Workouts this week included Upper body and abs from High Reps, cardio with Greg Twombly's wife Sharon and abs with Amy and a timesaver from GS Legs today. Took BB out tonight in blustery pouring rain. This was after he went outside to do some business, then turned around to go back in the house. He promptly went into his crate in the hope that we would take him somewhere in the car to a place that wasn't raining. :D

Here's to sunshine and no crazy hot temps for anyone! Tracy

Hi everyone

Roxie - what's a HOA?

Tracy - she's been doing them over four weeks, so had to start revision a while ago. She finished today though, we can enjoy the summer now and she's finished school till September. Hope you get some sunshine.

Busier day at work than I'd hoped for. Got KCM Bodysculpting done though. I love that workout, particularly the music.
Busy weekend ahead, DH is working tomorrow, so I'm doing double gymnastic run plus the shopping. Then Sunday DD's got a gym comp, then we're going out to eat in the evening to celebrate end of exams and Father's Day.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Ronne, woo hoo for DD! And good luck to her at gymnastics.

Roxie, I hope keeping boat at DD works out for you. Hopefully work will continue to improve as you settle in. I never feel too secure myself.

Mary, speaking of work, I was doing a respiratory procedure w/ a patient and this RN just looked at me and said she'd never ever do RT, she'd rather live on the street first. I was LMAO. It takes all kinds to make it work.

Lisa, you've become in love with the sport of cycling as much as the outdoors aspect, obvi. Well done on finding a groove for wherever you are at in life and doing so well. I was pondering my decline this morning and trying to pinpoint what exactly was the cause. I think age/meno but also physically I was really depleted after that Xtend Barre challenge where I was dieting, double dipping Cathe and Barre plus full time student, working and recently moved house (stress).

Tracy, did you have to go in at all for jury duty? Also, you took BB out for a walk in the pouring rain??? OMGosh that is commitment! I think in the past I have planned my workouts, but this time maybe I am planning light enough that I will follow through. So far so good, since I did today so maybe planning something I will do rather than planning something I *should* do will be the trick.

Thanks for the sweet thoughts on DD! Today I did a walk/sprint and Legs from MIS as well as some pushups on my Fit tower and some planks. I worked two days prior and on again over the weekend.
Hi Murphy!

PS loud tourists in ques and buses are annoying here as well!

Hi all! Today did yesterday's Cathe live, short and sweet, yesterday was the gym.

Jody, haha! Funny at that nurse! I think it's the sputum, at least for me that's what it is! I'd probably work at Aldi's instead of sputum, they pay pretty well around here.

Roxie, always an adjustment period. Thinking of you.

Tracey, Jody is right! In the rain? My dogs won't even go out if it's raining, they stick their heads out and walk away.

Lisa, are you on your bike trip??

Ronne, congrats to DD! Enjoy the celebrations!

Murphy, having fun with the kids??

Have to do a Target run, good day to all! Mary

Hi all, I'm still here, I've just been wiped out from cycling. Wed went 18 miles with neighbor, Thurs 15 miles with DH (but hilly), today (Fri) 30 miles with neighbor. I'm beat! That's 108 miles in 5 days. But now that I think about it SD may be more mileage than that! Oh and did half of XT Bi/tri yesterday too. I'm resting tomorrow and packing us for our trip. Sunday we leave and will probably do a short hike when we get there. Mary, Is DS liking his internship? I would have been worried about him after the shooting too! Good on you for walking so much, I've been resting the foot/ankle, have little pain. It's getting stupidly irritating but maybe it's because I know what to look out for and not to push thru. The bikes are in the garage, hanging on the walls. I talked myself out of buying another bike. Went instead to get my old regular bike from DS as it will be good for hauling Suki....I'm so much stronger now and I think I can do it. Left my car with him as a trial run to see if he wants it and to see if we can do without a second car. Especially since DH may be retiring sooner. We moved up his retirement date because we are tired of him traveling. Well, his mgr (and people at that level ) was offered a buyout program (supposedly really good), DH now gets to do some of his mgr work (mangaing people) with no increase in pay. Gossip is the package may be offered to next level of people down....that would be DH. I don't know if the gossip is correct though since they just got the numbers of who all took the buyout Wednesday. So we're doing a trial run with only 1 car so we have room in the garage for the bikes! Ronne, lol on bikes instead of DVDs. Enjoy your busy weekend. No big plans here for Father's Day (we'll be driving that day), then DH birthday is the next day. So his birthday will be spent cycling, surprise! Jody, I'm feeling pretty physically deplet3ed now, but I figure I'll rest when I die :) I am being smart on resting a couple days before we do 4 days straight of riding in SD. Tracy, I like your thinking about never too much (fill in the blank), but think you are crazy for walking BB in the rain! I guess you're used to rain. We hardly get rain here, but one spring we actually had to go buy an umbrella! That was probably 20 yrs ago. Roxie, hope the job gets better and that you can get the boat easily enough for your boating excursions. Murphy, what have you been up to?

So I'll probably be lurking next week, we will have spotty coverage. Last time we were there we got lost on the back roads and had to pull out. a paper map! Getting lost is really not possible, it was more we didn't want to end up far from where we intended to be. Road signs, none, more figured it out from how the road curved and matched it up on the map vs finding the road name. I'm kinda looking forward to being off the grid....that is until I want to look at something online! :)
