Which weight workouts 'best'?

I'm a little confused on the Cathe strength workouts and would greatly appreciate any comments/suggestions. Which workouts are 'best' for building/retaining muscle?

I bought Power Hour thinking it would cover all my bases but I rarely see anyone refer to it for increasing strength/definition. Did I just waste my money on that Dvd because I see the Pyramid series recommended alot and Slow & Heavy.

So...which workouts are the 'best' workouts for building building muscle and keeping it?

Power Hour is an endurance workout as is Muscle Endurance, Body Max's upper body and one of the Body Blast series and Legs and Glutes. You need both strength and endurance to build proper muscles. Pure Strength, the Pyramids and Slow and Heavy and again the other weight tape on the Body Blast are all strength/ muscle building workouts. MIS falls in the middle somewhere. You will get some definition from Power Hour, you won't necessarily build muscle unless you increase your weight and slow down the reps. I did that with Power Hour before I got some strength tapes. :) A rotation using Slow and Heavy, Pure Strength series and the Pyramids would build you some muscle especially with Slow and Heavy. But every now and then it is good to stick a week or 2 of endurance in there with it to give the muscles a break and to mix it up some.

I pretty much stick with the PS series with Slow and Heavy thrown in for variety ( I can only bring my chest to fatigue on Slow and Heavy chest, and it is the only one that I feel it the next day with also). Though I did feel for the first time doing endurance the other day with chest mixing the chest from Body Max and MIS together and I felt that that next day too.

You did not waste your money on that DVD it is good and has MIS on it and it can be considered a strength tape or an endurance tape all depending on how you work it. And you have the circuit training workout of Body Max which is great. And of course one on my first purchases trusty old Power Hour. The lunges in that will kill you.

Hope I helped you some.:D

RE: Annette

Hi Annette,

Would you consider CTX endurance or strength?? To me it seems like a bit of both, but I just wanted to hear another opinion on this.

TIA

Aila:)

RE: Annette

I personally only have 1 of the CTX series and that is All Step(came with my step). The shoulders on that one really get me good. Because of the reps being so fast and nonstop between exercises I would venture to say endurance. But with the quality of the fast pace and no breaks it takes you to a quick fatigue like a strength workout does. So like the other poster said probably somewhere in the middle.

Sorry probably not much help am I?!!?:+ :p :)

RE: Annette

Omg...did Power Hour this afternoon and my legs are like jello! I have never pushed myself so hard as in that workout and I kept wanting to break but I pushed on through...until the last set of those low lunges! That cashed me out! My legs were shaking so much my whole body was a'quiver!

Definitely well worth the money! That is the kind of burn I could never get with The Firm workouts. Boy, I am a Cathe fan for sure now!
