Which Older Workouts to Buy?

Hey everyone - I just received Cathe's five new workouts (have done all except Cardio Fusion), and I am enjoying them SO MUCH I am inspired to buy some more ...

I am partial to the cardio / step ones, but also love the IMAX series ... so I was looking through the list and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about future purchases. here's my favourites (so you know what I like):

IMAX 2
LOMAX
RHYTHMIC STEP
STEP BLAST
CARDIO & WEIGHTS
DRILL MAX
LOW IMPACT CIRCUIT

And here's what I am trying to choose between:

Bootcamp & Muscle Endurance
The Terminator
Cross Train Express
Circuit Max & Cardio Kicks
Cardio Hits

Please help!!

I would get Terminator. I love this DVD. It has compilations of IMAX 2, Cardio & Weights, Bootcamp and Muscle Endurance. They are all long (70-80 minutes), challenging workouts. IMAX Xtreme has the most cardio. The Viper is the longest at, I think, 80 minutes (has lots of Boot Camp and Muscle Endurance). I think the Gauntlet is my favorite. Here is a summary:

The Gauntlet
The Gauntlet was made by combining One Imax 2 interval + one Boot Camp lower body + one Cardio & Weights compound weights + one Boot Camp upper body + one Boot camp cardio..... Then repeat this pattern 7 times doing different exercises each time

The Viper
The Viper was made by combining One cardio section from Cardio & Weights + one Imax2 interval + two or three Muscle Endurance upper body heavy weights Then repeat this pattern 4 times doing different exercises each time.

Imax Xtreme

Imax Xtreme was made by combining One cardio section from Cardio & Weights + one Imax2 interval + two or three Muscle Endurance upper body heavy weights Then repeat this pattern 4 times doing different exercises each time.

It looks like you like complex step. Cardio Hits is kind of athletic choreography but I like Step Works the best and the cooldown in Step Fit has macarena type moves.

Boot Camp and Muscle Endurance have some good premixes but maybe you're better off getting the Terminator for an idea if you like them. Boot Camp has athletic choreography. The ab work in BC and ME is tough. ME is a great endurance workout. I don't have CTX but if you do a search, I'm sure you can find plenty of info. I've read some of the workouts are space hogs and 4 out of the 5 have step workouts and that there are a lot of plyo moves. Leaner Legs is supposed to be one of Cathe's toughest leg workouts. I haven't done Circuit Max or Cardio Kicks either so I can't comment.

HTH.

Hi

I can't help weighing in with a vote - BootCamp/ME has to be one of my all time favorites. I have had such benefits from both Boot Camp and ME and I especially love the extra focus on abs. Of all my growing Cathe collection, this is one DVD I cannot life without.

In my humble opinion....

Good luck!

the terminator u already have 2 of the three workouts.
bootcamp/me is mostly upper body

I have 2 votes...First is Boot Camp/ME..Great advanced workout...if you like Drill Max, you'll enjoy Boot Camp, and I notice that you don't have a full body weight workout in your current line up, so ME will be a great addition.

That being said..I love CTX!!There is so much to use on this set...I use at least part of it every week. You get some step, Hi/Lo, kickboxing(a nice intro since you don't have any of those either), as well as a very tough leg workout as well as upper body....AND 4 ab workouts!! How can you go wrong!?!?! All of the workouts are under an hour...Which makes them great to work in on a day that you don't have much time.

I agree with the previous poster that you don't really need the Terminator..And I personally can't get past the old outfits in Cardio Hits.

Hope this helps! Happy Shopping!

I like terminator and hardcore extreme. IMO would be the terminator out of all of your choices.

Good luck. You will love whatever you pick. :)

Ok, Here's my thoughts:

BC & ME: A "must-have duo". The Bonus workout is worth the price alone. Great for overall fitness, endurance, and fat-burning. You may get a little muscle out of ME if you are newer to that type of training. Certainly some definition, anyway.

Terminator: A great thing if you love circuits, and do not have a multichanger DVD player, or don't like mixing and matching. I do these a lot, too.

CXT: I would do these a lot more if I had more space. If you want quick, intense cardio with one body part per day, you will like this set. It is a whole rotation in and of itself.

CM & CK: Circuit Max still is the biggest calorie burner for me, and I really enjoy CK. Many would call CK easier- (compared to KPC or Kick Max)- but I have found I can make it as intense as I want it.

Cardio Hits: Enjoy them all, but for some reason I don't reach for these as much. There are a couple moves that I have trouble with because of space. Kinda dated, which makes them even more fun for me. Gotta love those outfits.

Overall: You have listed some of my favorites as yours, so I am gonna recommend BC & ME, then Terminator. Yes, you have Imax 2 and C&W, which is what the Terminators are made from, but they are put together so very well and you already know the music is great. The sequencing is really well-done.

Alexandra,

BUY ALL :)

But seriously, sounds like you have too much cardio and not enough weight workouts in your collection. I would buy Boot Camp/Muscle Endurance. Muscle Endurance is awesome for increasing your strength.

Of the ones you mentioned, I'm thinking Terminator - which is a compilation of Imax 2, Boot Camp, Muscle Endurance and Cardio & Weights. Because it is a compilation, most of it won't be that new to you. However, it consists of 3 kick your butt hard workouts and although familiar, the workouts do take on a different feel in this compilation. Since you like Imax 2 and C&W, this could be a good option for you. But because it is tough, it might not be one that you reach for all the time - you have to be feeling strong. Or maybe that appeals to you?

Alternatively, since you like step, I'd consider Cardio Hits. It's 3 step routines - The DVD is a little dated, but the workouts are fun. It's just step, no blasts, no intervals. Very good solid workouts for a lower intensity cardio day.

Based on the workouts you like, I wouldn't go with CTX or CM/CK as your next purchase. Bootcamp is a tough workout but it's one that you really have to push yourself to get a good workout - - it's an easy one to cheat with. For that reason I don't reach for it that frequently but I'd choose that one over CTX or CM.
