Which is best workout to work each muscle to the max?

Cathlete
I am currently doing UBP & LBP. Lower does it, definitely works each muscle to failure. But UBP doesn't on all exercises (bicep work kills me in that one, only time I've ever had to stop).
Of course I'm new in that I only started using Cathe's tapes this past fall so am not as familiar with her other workouts (other than ones from FIT TV, which is where I found out that I could do her workouts - was terrified to try before that).
Question is - for lifting heavy (working to failure), would MIS be best, or Slow & Heavy? Or, of course any suggestions anyone might have.
I own the Pyramids, BC & ME, MuscleMax and LowMax. I haven't gotten to MuscleMax yet - but have heard it's more endurance than pure strenth. If I'm wrong about that please let me know.

Thanks,
Caren

Gym Styles and S&H. They're both friers. PS is also good, but I've used it so much for so long my body's gotten used to it. So I'm laying off of it for a while. I did gain a whole lot of strength with PS.

I did tape that series on FitTV so will begin to do S&H but am sure I'll have to purchase the DVD to get full benefit. So far Push Pull seems to be the only one somewhat intact.
Have to admit, I was in shape before I used Cathe's tapes, but since doing her workouts for only 6 months, I now have muscles and definition that you can see. I love feeling strong.

Caren,
I'd like to add another vote for the GS Workouts, GS Chest and Triceps always gets me to muscle failure and the band work really gets into the muscles b/c you are working so hard to stabilze at the same time. PS is also great and S&H, but I literally can't complete the tricep work in GS and by the time we get around to biceps in GS Back, Shoulders, Biceps I have about 10 fewer pounds on my barbell than Cathe.
Have fun!

Thank you - I will check out GS Chest & Triceps.
Is the work in it like Muscle Max? Just want to check because I do have that workout and want to get something different.
I did LBP this morning - am utterly astounded each time I do this one at how hard it is - by the time I finish the SB floor work I feel like the strongest sadist who ever lived. I love doing that workout.

The work in GS Chest and Triceps might have a few overlaps w/ MM, I can't remember exactly right now, but the work it so exhaustive and complete that it is definitely in a category by itself. By the time you even get to triceps they are pretty fatigued, working as stabilizers for all the hard and heavy chest work. It's amazing!

Obviously you think GS Upper Body is better than S&H. Have to look on the Website - I seem to remember that you purchase them separately-will check because I want the best one I can get. It certainly sounds like GS will be one you can work up to and keep using without outgrowing.

I definitely vote for S&H. But you can go heavy in the GS series and Musclemax too. I also finding out the usin the band along with weights is a great way to shcok the muscles. The bands come in different resistances too...:)...Carole

Slow & Heavy is my vote for going very heavy to failure on each muscle group (except maybe legs - without a squat rack or a spotter it's hard to get to failure but you WILL get a good burn). I've used the Gym Styles and Muscle Max to go heavy by pausing the DVD for a slightly longer rest between sets.

For lower body, my vote is for S&H. I agree about the squat rack, I use one for leg work because it is difficult for me to repeatedly lift over 70lbs over my head. For upper body, it is Gym Style followed by S&H.

A total fryer for my upper body was when I did one body part per day using first S&H and then immediately following that by the same bodypart section in CTX Upper Body. Adding CTX gave me that extra oomph, almost like the band exercises in the GS series.

I am relatively new to Cathe's workout, so don't always know what the abbreviations stand for - which one is CTX?

Have to say I am amazed by all the replies - right now I think (since I did tape S&H from FitTV and am financially challenged), that I will start with S&H and as soon as I can afford it I will buy Gym Styles Upper (both); I like the idea of also using bands. Of course never know when I'll break down and get S&H too - one of the reasons that I am financially challenged - I have a hard time saying No to myself especially when it comes to exercise - I mean it is good for you so can rationalize well.

But please tell me what CTX is, I am at work and can't go on the site to check which one it might be.

Thank you.

Caren,
CTX is Cross Train Express.

I'm really enjoying the Gym Styles right now. I get doms almost every workout, which I didn't experience before, even with Slow & Heavy. Both are excellent series.

Thank you - I can't wait to order Gym Styles - my birthday is coming up so if don't get cash to buy it, will buy it anyway as my own birthday present to myself. I'm really looking forward to doing it now, since it's gotten so many recommendations.

Will also put CTX on my list for future.
