Which Fitness Celebrities that is annoying to you???????

RE: Which Fitness Celebrities that is annoying to you??...

Man, this thread is funny! I personally do not care for Denise Austin or any of the Firm ladies. The Firm workouts always seem like they are afraid to show anyone sweating or working hard. I always roll my eyes when I do those workouts.

I really enjoy Billy Blanks and Cathe (of course) because they really push you. Have you ever worked out with Keli Roberts? I also enjoy some of her work also.

I don't care for Janet Brooks who does an upper body w/o on The Firm.
I don't like to work out with Nancy Tucker either. Jen Carmen's voice gets on my nerves for some reason but I liked her w/o's. Tony Little grates on my nerves. I have a Denise Austin yoga/pilates DVD that I don't do very much, if at all lately. I just didn't take to her. It is hard to "put up with" some of the former fitness instructors I once did because, IMHO, Cathe surpasses them all. I really like Cathe's cueing, encouragement, and humor that seems to come at just the right time.

It's funny you say that. In BSS3 (which I own, hanging head in shame) they were sooooooooo skinny. A few ladies mentioned they looked anarexic including me, and we were scorched for even saying anything about how they look. As a matter of fact, our threads were deleted on the Firm Forum just for mentioning how they looked. Then BSS4 came out (which I also own, really hanging my head in shame now) and everybody's boobs had magically increased a cup size. Hmmmmmm.......maybe they are trying to be Barbie....

Denise Austin really bugs me.

Also, I didn't care for Cory Everson's workouts. The cues were non-existent.

Cathe really is the best instructor out there!

What a great thread!

- Denise Austin: She *never* shuts up! She just keeps on and on in that breathy phone sex voice, "motivation....dedication." GAG.

- Kathy Smith: Don't mind her except for her bizarre whooping and cheering that someone else also mentioned.

- Billy Blanks: I like tae-bo, mostly the early stuff and have a soft spot for Billy and his lousy queing. Just dislike in his earlier stuff when he starts to preach about reaching up for my higher power. I don't know why, that just always seemed obnoxious to me.

- The Firm: these women remind me of the girls I couldn't stand in high school. Their workouts are as if the popular clique decided to get together and do an exercise video.

- Gilad: Okay, I think he is HILARIOUS. Did anyone catch the episode on FitTV where he had the CAMEL on set? Judging from the outfits it was some 90's workout session. He was in Jordan I think and had the whole Middle Eastern theme going. Off to one side was some Arab guy sitting on a camel, groovin' to the beat. It was absolutely priceless. I showed it to my DH and he thought it was a spoof.

Good venting thread but I'm sure every one of these instructors mentioned have provided inspiration and motivation to someone. That is what really counts. Getting someone to improve their health is the real measure of the instructor. Some people make comments about Cathe that upset members of this board. I understand that, and I think some of these comments are upsetting members of other fan bases, which may not reflect well on Cathe or us. Believe me when I say that I have responded to this type of thread before, but for some reason this thought just ran through my head today. Maybe these comments are better suited to review type threads when there is as specific reason for bringing them up. Or maybe I'm just being a party pooper.

You probably are not aware of her, but there is a mexican woman which is known as "the queen of kids". She has or used to have a tv show for kids. Her name is Tatiana and Tony Little looks exactly like her.:7

Denise Austin for me...hands down!! I do her Pilates video, but I turn the sound OFF. She is so breathy, she sounds like she's doing a porn video or something. It's really weird!!!! And I agree, the Firm ladies are definitely Stepford like!!

Oh, I love Billy Blanks - he got me started on my fitness quest. But even I have to admit that whenever I do his workouts now - the "Advanced" ones, I end up talking to the tv, telling him to shut up and get on with the workout. He talks SO MUCH!! I don't mind it when we're doing something, but when we're marching it out - I usually end up aiming kicks at the tv while he's blabbing. He really should try a workout that is choreographed and thought out before hand, not just made up on the fly.

I had a Jane Fonda step tape (gave it to a friend who is a real beginner) that switches between three instructors (not one of whom is Jane). One of the women is a tall blonde named Laurel who drives me absolutely batty. If I heard, "Work your body" in that terminally perky voice one more time, I'd, well, it's a good thing I gave away the tape... I am also not a fan of Denise Austin.

While I agree with Jordan that all of these people who annoy us have inspired people and deserve credit for that, I also think this question is rather harmless. I lost a lot of weight with Richard Simmons. While he is probably one of the most annoying people on the planet (I could not imagine having dinner with him *shudders*), he has helped a lot of people. As have the others. But, he's still one of the most annoying people on the planet.

This thread has had me cracking up. I must be part of the "Don't like Denise Austin", her voice does annoy me and I don't think that her workouts are very good.
Tony Little is nothing but a pain in the ears, how in the world can anyone tolerate that man?!?!?!?!?
The ladies from The Firm, with the exception of Ali were horrible. There is one who's voice is deeper than my husbands and their workouts are so boring, at least the older ones. But I will give them credit in bringing attention to the effectiveness of combining cardio with resistance training.
I tried Billy Blanks and got so frustrated with his poor sequencing that I had to stop the tape and go for a run.
I absolutely adore Cathe. Her workouts are the best and they are worth every single penny.
I will agree with the reply above mine, these folks although they may not be our cup of tea they have at least brought attention to how important it is to live a healthy life-style, but hands down Cathe is the best. I must send a High Five to Kathy Gonzalez who introduced to me her a few years ago, thank you so much, wish that I could find you again.
Lynn

Thanks

I cant stand Denise Austin. She just irks me.....However I do love
Billy Blanks.....I love Tae Bo........I just discovered Cathe.....I have never tried any of the others.........

I absolutely can NOT stand Denise Austin!!! Her raspy voice holds a "I know soooo much more than you do" tone to it. Her eyes seem to be fixated in a continuous, non-blinking trance.

Moira Stott is annoying and she won't shut up!

The loud counting that Billy Blanks's class does is really annoying.

Suzanne from The Lotte Berk Method "Hip huggers" is very annoying and she, too, won't shut up. The workout is very good, but I do it less and less because of her.

It's funny to see all the comments about Sharon Mann. I didn't know her show aired in the U.S.!! Until a couple of years ago, she was an instructor at my fitness club in Toronto, Canada. At some point she started billing herself as a "celebrity instructor" and had the club post publicity photos of her along with a bio. (You might expect that from a guest instructor, but not from someone who is on the regular schedule!) Her bio always says "award winning world-renowned instructor, mom to three boys, star of many videos, star of her own fitness show on TV, co-owner of Burntrax Music Productions" ... anyway, clearly she has a great life and she can successfully juggle it, not like the rest of us losers! Sparky (she actually spells her real name "Sharyn") is practically Sharon Mann's shadow. At the Can Fit Pro conference in Toronto every year, Sparky is there carrying Sharon Mann's display case ... behind the desk selling her music CDs and videos to the crowds... generally fawning. My SIL was on a rowing team with Sparky once and introduced me to her (not because I cared one way or the other, just because Sparky came up to talk to my SIL while I was talking to her, and kept looking at her watch as if she didn't have time for me to finish talking) -- well she was one of the most self-absorbed b****es I have ever met! She also kept looking me up and down in a way that really bothered me. Anyway, I think that both Sharon and Sparky are really full of themselves.

RE: Which Fitness Celebrities that is annoying to you??...

Gilad is very annoying to me. He only does 50% of the workout. If you are an instructor, just do it. I'm pretty sure before taping, they went thur the routine. And also Sharon Mann's "SPARKY"! She really need to simmer down.......
