Whey protien and weight loss

I am currently on the WW program. I have over 100 pounds to loose - as you can see below. I am currently doing a rotation of Cathe's PP. I am wondering if it will help or hinder me to use my Protoplex protien shakes after my weight workouts. It is not many points (two points on WW) or calories if I use water and one more point for any fruit I use ... so a total of three WW points. I have not read much about protien shakes and trying to lose large amounts of weight. Any info would be helpful.

Thanks!!

p.s. As of today I am 6.8lbs smaller.... YEAH!!!!!!!

Kim--

I can't really say about losing a lot of weight, but adding protein shakes to my diet has really helped with definition, and I dropped about 5 pounds over 3 months. That's a lot, since I don't really need to lose weight. I have about 2 a day, plus adding protein rich foods to my diet, too.

Good luck!

Kim,

Protein shakes can be really useful, particularly if you are training hard. I see you are using WW points. Rather than having "junk" points in your intake, concentrate on having some protein and carb at every meal. The protein helps with recovery, takes longer to digest (higher metabolic cost) and best of all keeps you feeling full.

A protein shake and piece of fruit post workout sounds like a great idea to me.

Congratulations on your success so far.

Thanks for the feedback Liz. I was thinking it would be a great postwork out meal/snack and I am trying to eat 5-7 small meals/day. It seems to be working to keep the hunger at bay and I am losing pretty well thus far. Just a little apprehensive to add the shakes.
