Just wondering, how many of you are using whey protein supplements to complement your diet and weight training program?
I was at GNC today to get a tub of pure whey protein powder to supplement my current diet and fitness regime. I am not getting enough protein as I would like, and to top it off, I lift weights as well. I thought that I needed more protein to rebuild my muscles after my workout so that I can get good definition.
Those salespeople at GNC tried their best to steer me away from the huge tubs of whey protein lined up at the shelf (all of them had huge hulky men on the label), and instead pointed me to protein meal replacements designed for women to lose weight! The nerve x( . I tried explaining to them that I wanted protein powder as a supplement because I do weight lifting. Somehow they had a hard time registering that fact and repeatedly suggest I go for the protein weight loss thingy.
I walked off from the store not buying anything, but will be going to another GNC outlet soon.
Can anyone share their experience with whey protein supplements? I know that it is ridiculous to think that they are exclusively for men and that consuming them will lead to huge bulky muscles for women.
