I told my daughter something very similar to that letter (of course not as well put). Of course there is a Santa Claus. He's just not the guy in the red suit that has flying reindeer. He is the spirit of Christmas - the joy of giving without receiving. The joy of doing unto others with no expectations.

My son is 9 too. He found out about Santa in 2nd grade. He had a hunch and asked me, so I told him the truth. I'd rather it come from me than a mean kid at school. (That's what happened to me)


He was fine with it.
