When do you start decorating?

I bought some new decorations today. Nothing elaborate, just some cute things from a local store. Now it is snowing and my 3 and 4 year old boys are losing their mind!

They are so excited about Christmas that I want this season to last forever! Anybody ever decorate the weekend before Thanksgiving?

If not, when do you decorate?

The day after Thanksgving! I am a catalog-online shopper so no malls for me, I just decorate and then eat my turkey sandwich for lunch and enjoy the start of the Christmas holiday season!

I do fall decorations until Thanksgiving and then I go all out for Xmas. I love love love this time of year!!

Along the same lines I refuse to listen to Xmas music until after Thanksgiving. :D

My DS birthday is in early December so we never decorate until after that.
But I LOVE Christmas decorations. And I could listen to the music today. Just puts me in a happy and festive mood. :D:D
We get personalized ornaments every year and the boys 4and 7 LOVE seeing their old ones.

Ellie, my mom and dad always did the personalized decorations for us! Every Xmas I love pulling them out and remembering those wonderful Christmases when I was a wee girl. :)

Me too!!! About the decorating part.... But I find myself turning on the xmas tunes earlier in the season.

We will put up the xmas tree on Thanksgiving -- after the big meal, nap, and dessert;)

I put my tree up today(just the tree- no ornaments yet). It's a 10' flocked artificial tree. It's so pretty, and a pretty big mess too! All that flocking gets on me and everything! I just finished cleaning up.

I like my tree up for Thanksgiving.:)

Elliemom - my DD has an early December birthday as well so for years we NEVER decorated before the celebration of her birthday. However, this year she is turning 16 and we are spending the night in NYC with a couple of her cousins so there is NO party at our house.

Therefore, this is the first year in a very long, long time I can decorate when I want versus not decorating until mid-December to give her a birthday theme without anything about Christmas but it always seemed that I would put the trip up only to take it down so quickly!

I am looking forward to being able to finally decorate when I would like to!!

I started last weekend!!!

I love decorating and I reasoned it thusly...

I live in Mexico = no thanksgiving = xmas decorating directly after Halloween.

DH may have tried to object to this line of reasoning. Not sure, couldn't hear him over "White Christmas". >:)

Without fail, I decorate the day after Thanksgiving (though I start the season earlier because I start shopping in August and I have been known to send Christmas cards before Thanksgiving--but not doing that this year).

I like to decorate weekend after Thanksgiving, but will be decorating weekend before this year since I will be out of town. I love the decorations, but it is too much work not to have it up as long as possible.

I decorate for fall and do X-mas the first of Dec. My mom gave the three of us onaments every year and when I got married, I had a tree full!!! I've been doing the same for my three since their first X-mas. I hope they do the same for theor kids someday...:)

I start as late as possible (if I had my way, it'd go up on Christmas Eve or not at all) and I take it down as soon as I can. This year it'll go up the weekend before Christmas (20/21) and come down on the 27th or so.

Did you ever know that you're my hero???

It's not that I dislike Christmas, but I just don't feel like celebrating it the entire month of December (or longer!).

I decorate late too. We have a small house and the tree (even a small one) just takes up so much room. Also we get a permit to cut a tree from certain designated areas of AZ state forest. Since it's a real tree I don't like having it up too long before Christmas for fear that it will dry out and become a fire hazard. I really enjoy going to cut it down. We pack a picnic and make a day trip out of it.

okay, I am going to sound like a big scrooge, but I do not put up any Christmas decorations. I just don't like them. I am not one to normally display knick knacks and crafts any other time of year. I have gotten a few decorations as Christmas gifts in the past from family members that think I should decorate, but they just sit in my basement. I used to have a little Christmas tree that was about 2.5 foot tall. I kept it decorated and just threw a trash bag over it 11 months of the year. I finally threw it away though after my dog peed on it.

We also stopped buying Christmas presents for almost everyone. We still buy a little toy for the small babies and tots. Once they his five years old they get a charity gift certificate from us. We use justgive.org -- it is tax deductible for us and the receive gets to choose the charity of their choice. Last year four of the kids never redeemed their charity gift cards, since they never expire we are just reprinting them and giving it to them again. Honestly, noone that I know actually needs anything.

I'm a big ole' scrooge, too, Monica.

Haven't had a tree in almost 10 years, this year I'm giving all my ornaments away to my niece. The only thing I'm keeping is a stocking for the dog. :D

I'm so glad others feel the same way. If I had kidlets, I would do the whole Christmas thing but it just seems like a big interruption and I'm way too lazy to drag everything out of storage for just a couple of weeks.

We adopt a family every year for Christmas so no presents for the family either. I'm so excited though because we have our Christmas family. I can't wait to go shopping for them!!
